Looks beautiful, gorgeous hard to walk on sand, if you have your flat board you can slide from top of the dunes to the bottom.

I thought it would be a fun short climb to the top and then down over to the beach to watch the sunset. I was really wrong. These dunes are huge and go on forever. You could easily spend several hours just playing and trying to remember your way back. Watched the sunset from the top of the first dune.
Worth the stop.

Possibly not steep enough for sliding. But still a lot of fun climbing the dunes. We been there on a hot day, so hot on a bare foot.

Go pass the sign that says "Henty Dunes Picnic Area", park at the small carpark and the slopes to enter the dunes is right next to the carpark. Once you head up the steep slopes, you may choose the slope on your left to slide down with the sandboard. Sandboards can be rented from various shops like the Big4 holiday park or gordon river cruise shop.

Well worth the steep climb and the hazardous descent.

Highly recommended to do a ATV adventure tour with Ian. Don’t be nervous, great way to cover ground in the dunes and Ian is good company. We still went when it was raining on and off and had a great time

Magnificent experience. Good for off-roading.
Climb to the top of the dune and roll down.
Must need a 4x4 for great experience. Great place for photo shoot. Been there second time still looks amazing there.

Nice area. A lot of potholes on the road going into the dunes. Tips: have a great fun and climb up and down the actual dune rather than using the path

Can't image we have such big sand area in our island! We haven't reach the beach, but it still got lots of fun on the road.

Awesome dunes don’t forgot to bring a boogie board, sled or a sign
There’s a good view from the top you can see the beach
You can drive up onto the dunes with a 4x4 but the walls are a bit tight

A hidden gem. Hard to explain just how vast these sand dunes are. Pretty cool!

Get some to tobaggan and race down the dunes. But keep in mind that walking back up is hard work

Fun place to explore and spend an evening at. Best viewed at sunset in my opinion.

My dad climbed up the dunes first by foot before everyone copied him. Best experience ever, dude running it was nice too. My sister and mum hated it and cried at the end so not for everyone. But I would do it again a million times if I could. I’m petrified of many things like bungee jumping but for some reason I could do this without a single cry for help.

This was a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours and you can hire a sled from a number of places in Strahan.
