My son and I had lunch here today because we had walked past people in the main street with amazing sushi rolls. They directed us to Watts River Cafe.

We were going to have take away, but the selection of quiches caught my eye and we decided to eat in.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The sushi rolls were delish and I opted for a trout and goat cheese pizza. The coffee is so good, and my son rated the chocolate milkshake! 🤩

There is a delightful and serene back veranda which is covered. They have blankets inside to put over your needs and rug up on colder days.

The front of the store has lots of cute handmade items to buy.

The staff are so friendly too. We had planned to have lunch somewhere else, but I’m so glad we discovered this gorgeous little cafe. I will definitely be bringing family and friends back here when we visit Healesville.

Also, we don’t have a pet dog, but I did see other people on the veranda with their dog. So, it’s really nice to know your best friend is welcome too. 💖

A surprise Japanese fusion cafe in this area. Salmon sushi roll is huge, heaps more ingredients than any sushi chain and the sushi roll is very fresh. Matcha is ok. It is too sweet to my liking. They also have Japanese dinner menu. Will certainly come back on next travel to try. Booking uis required for dinner and lunch if large group. The cafe is not huge. Have indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating are very pretty, surrounded by plants and decorations. Staff are very busy, but also friendly. Price is on high end, but worth it with the high quality of food and drinks. Plenty of parking nearby.

I was blown away by the House-Smoked Atlantic Salmon on my last visit.

This is now my favourite brunch dish in all of Healesville, possibly the world.

A delicate blend of textures and flavours that made every bite a vibrant moment of its own.
Throughout consumption, it was clear that attention to detail, balance, texture, and presentation, were all emphatically represented in this icon of culinary love.

I simply must repeat the experience.

We enjoy the Coffee, portugese cake, pudding, Green tea. Staff so friendly and good services. The pudding, she said is most popular there and the taste sweet and sour. But i dont like sour, actually nice combination.

A wonderful little cafe in the heart of Healesville.

We stopped here for Good Friday for a quick bite to eat when driving through.

The cafe itself has internal and external seating, clean and spacious it is comfortable overlooking the parkland to the rear of the Main Street of Healesville.

Greeted by our friendly and welcoming server in Mel, we sat outside. The menu is specific to local and regional selections of meals from starters to mains. The specials board changes weekly and also has a good selection of meals.

We ordered the Smoked trout Salad, the potatoe pancakes with the additional smoked salmon, the smoked salmon dish and the wagyu pie.

All meals were sizeable and flavourful with a fantastic combination of texture, taste and seasoning.

After our meals we ordered the Kumquat sponge cake. This was delicious with another great combination of sweet and sesame and a perfect texture blend between the sponge cake, wafer and accompanying wafer.

When in Healesville this is most definitely a spot to stop for great service, excellent food and all for a reasonable price.

Big shout out to Mel for providing excellent service, being engaging and kind, and providing a laugh.

Food was amazing! We had okonomiyaki with grilled scallops. A nice place and was very busy, but not too much so. Clearly regulars eat here too, so it must be good. Copped a little sass from one flustered waitress who apologised later, but all other staff were impeccably polite. I'd eat there again if in the area.

Wonderful inspired delicately cooked food. Super friendly professional staff ~ went out of their way to get a water bowl for puppy. Ate here twice on our weekend on Healesville. I recommend the salmon brekky, the cheesecake and the way sausage roll, but you can't go wrong.

What a delicious lunch! The lady serving at the front was a pleasure to talk to and very friendly. The roast pork cassoulet melted in the mouth. The fatty bits were cooked really well, caramelised and soft and just added another level to the dish. Chickpcas, the mushroom and the kranky were a beautiful combo. It just had so much hearty goodness flavour. The salmon cakes and beef cheeks were also very good. Generous portions.

Take away quiches were also fantastic.

It was great how they helped provide good takeaway food at a good price over the Covid lockdowns. And are keeping things affordable. Well done!

The only downside was the customer service sitting on the verandah out the back with lovely sun. The waitresses asked for drink orders twice. We asked for water but were left dry for quite some time. I ended up spotting some water bottles and cups and getting them myself. Perhaps they should have asked us to self serve if they don't serve the water rather than leaving us waiting.

Best cafe in Healsville. Amazing food, staff are friendly and the food is incredible. Home made style with good old fashion country hospitality. It’s amazing how many cafes don’t have service anymore. You cannot go wrong with old school manners and service.

What a great little cafe this is the thing that caught my eye was "fresh sushi" on the board outside. Pleasantly surprised that they sliced each roll up onto a plate with ginger and wasabi. Far better than any food court sushi it was fresh and delicious and a big serving for just two rolls. Could not fault it and the atmosphere was nice it wasn't super busy and the staff were very friendly it's my "go to" place now when I'm in Healesville

Friendly staff and very clean amenities. Hand sanitiser at every table and staff are quick to clean tables once finished. My husband had the Club Sandwich which tasted even better it looks. All in all, a great place to stop by on your day out or road trip, refuel yourself and relax.

2nd time here. Quite simply, the best food ever eaten since the first time I ate here.
In a small cafe in the heart of downtown Healesville, one would think they're dining in a 5* restaurant in the city, so good is this food.
Fri/Sat nights only, book and you won't be disappointed!!

magnificent salmon with oyster mushrooms, onion and amazing potatoe slice. Sensational calarmari and Steak sandwich. Best place to eat in Healesville by a country mile

We received a warm welcome, and the service was prompt and friendly. The soup of the day was delicious and prettily presented. It was great to have a choice of Japanese dishes as well. The large indoors area became filled with lively chatter and, after a while, I noticed that the smell of food cooking became quite noticeable. However, there's also a large outdoors seating area if you prefer to sit outside, with well-spaced tables. It was bathed in the afternoon winter sunshine when we were there. Our waitress split our bill when we requested this, which we appreciated, especially as this is not usually offered when the cafe gets very busy. I'd be happy to return and try some other dishes next time.
