Super Hero Banh Mi Vietnamese Restaurant

I can't fault the quality and flavour of this food. It is delicious. I would only rate this takeaway less because I know I can get authentic banh mi from Footscray, Richmond, or Springvale for literally half the cost with the actual paté and Vietnamese mayonnaise spread. I am glad to see some culture in Castlemaine so well done on breaking into the market.

Good food in castlemaine vietnam food, i order bun with pork, it gluten free with a loot of vegie. The pork taste very nice and marinate. Need try the bun with pork recommend

Drove past this place by chance and noticed how busy it was... we thought we'd better see what all the fuss was about ! It did not disappoint. Food was sensational—full of flavour. Cant wait to go back. Vegan options are excellent (the sticky tofu is sooo good).

Hands down the best Vietnamese! I can’t find any good Vietnamese around Bendigo and just having moved from Melbourne and coming across this little gem I can honestly say I would drive 30 mins just for the food! It’s clean, tasty, fresh and the service is impeccable! HIGHLY recommend. I just wish they were open everyday!!

I absolutely adore everything about Superhero. From the quality of their fresh ingredients, to the effort that goes into perfecting each dish over and again.
Their staff are always accommodating and forthcoming about wait times, closures and new and exciting things to try.
As an incredibly small business in an overwhelmingly busy town, Mary and her team are SUPER HERO’s themselves.

We were delighted to move from Melbourne to Castlemaine and discover Superhero. By far the best banh mi & baos we’ve ever had.
Super generous with their fillings, perfectly balanced flavours & crunch and absolutely delicious. Oh and don’t get me started on their cakes & sweet stuff, equally yummy and often innovative

Honestly the best bao buns I have ever had and trust me I have enjoyed a lot! The flavour on their tofu is also totally incredible. We will drive hours out of our way to eat here it’s delicious 🤤

Not having a large migrant community anymore, Castlemaine relies on Melbourne visitors to bring it some variety and change. Just ask the locals.

Divide aside, without this frequent visitation of tourism, Castlemaine would not be the quirky place it is today, being one of the first places alongside Daylesford and Hepburn, Macedon and the Dandenongs to be poplulated with satellite residents of Melbourne.

Artists, musicians, bankers, and other privileged and creative types have always looked for refuge in either the trees or the salt water. Look the world over.

You will find these popular places in the states of Australia, other countries and islands around the world, and always with a connection to art and culture.

Here in Central Victoria, we are lucky to have the abundance of good food and drink, but it always comes with a price, the price, and that being the busiest days for business is always weekend-centric. Now that we have been paying the price for more than 20 years, it is a shame that we (all regional residents) have been hit even harder by investment greed to be moved along to lower value areas.

Enjoy these treats, as i do with the feeling of impermanence, sort of like a Banksy or a sand mandala. Know that, while you feel like the price you pay now might be steep, it will soon be forgotten, as the oppurtunity awarded to these businesses in the form of skilled staff will eventually peter off, as workers can no longer afford to travel from affordable accommodation to serve at minimum wage your deliciuos nourishment.

As always, the standard is the best option here, dont be fooled by your instagram diet or your political leanings on ethical consumption. Go with Pork, on a Bagguette with 🌶 and patè. Dont forget to indulge with a bao or 4 and live large. 😉

The gentleman behind the counter is very friendly and helpful. The service is always excellent food has wonderful flavour and texture. Very authentic bánh mì.

This tiny hidden away gem was a wonderfully discovery.
I thought I had tried and found the best Banh Mi in Victoria already.
I was wrong!
My boss a Castlemaine local, suggested I try her favorite only a few shops up from were we work.
I was absolutely blown away by this establishments authentic Vietnamese menu.
The Banh Mi was extremely tasty and flavoursome .the combination of all those flavours with roast pork on an lightly crusted baguette was fantastic and second to none.
I really wanted to keep this place a secret but just couldn't deprive you all.
Real quality food lovers of Victoria ,I know you will be impressed.

Incredible, so lucky to have this gem in our town. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Love the tofu bahn mi and bun, plus any desserts we have tried from here have also been first class.

Super Hero lived up to the expectations that the reviews indicated. Generous amounts of beautiful pork in both the bahn mi and the rice vermicelli along with plenty of fresh, crisp salad. Will certainly be back. Only problem was the amount of time it took to get through on the phone, but I guess that could be an indicator of just how popular Super Hero has become!
