Best train ride I’ve ever been on! My two year old son especially loved it, his first time on a train and what a beauty. Wonderful trip into beautiful Maldon.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful volunteers how pour their time, blood, sweat and tears into making this all possible for others to enjoy.

We were surprised by how amazing our train trip was! Pay a bit more and go first class. Stunningly-resorted historic carriages make the trip luxurious and special. Our time in Maldon was full of interesting shops, food, art and history. On the train back to Castlemaine we enjoyed David’s G&Ts in The Parlour bar car while we watch beautiful Aussie bush out the windows. The volunteer staff were outstanding. Recommend this highly.

Lovely old station, architectural beauty with old posters collection on platform 3. Unfortunately, the steam train only goes on weekends, so I was unable to travel.

Lovely experience taking a step back in history on the train. Maldon in an interesting place to visit and we were fortunate to be there for the Sunday markets (second Sunday of the month).

Fabulous service from the staff who are friendly and so very kind and considerate. Went in the first class carriage it was beautifully appointed and so much fun really well worth the visit. Well done to all the volunteers who make it possible.

Surprised my partner with a trip on an old steam engine from Castlemaine to Maldon.
Sat in the first class cars with access to a bar and a platform from which to see a clear view of the landscape.
We loved the experience. The completely restored train was beautiful. The volunteers who run the operation are passionate about trains and very friendly.

Amazing trip back in time. Friendly staff members and cosy journey to Maldon and back to Castlemaine.

Great experience. Kids had lots of fun during christmas time. Steam engine and vintage feel of carriages was amazing.
To choose between Meldon or Castlemaine. I would suggest to depart from Castlemaine, spend couple of hours in Meldon and return. As there are more attractions like Botanical gardens, The Mill, city center and restaurants in Castlemaine so you can use your car to checkout those.

We had an enjoyable trip from Castlemaine to Maldon on this delightful old train. My only complaint is that there is no sign from the station indicating where the Maldon township was.

A fantastic day out me and my partner really enjoyed the trip to Maldon and the volunteers do an amazing job the stop in Maldon is a great enough time to grab some lunch and wander the township

Oh my goodness! We took the vintage train for a day trip to Maldon and back with our train-obsessed 2.5 year old.
It was a bloody delight!!
The stations and train carriages were gorgeous, the railway volunteers were friendly and helpful and the towns of Castlemaine and Maldon were lovely. We will definitely be returning to explore the area further and will definitely take the train again.

Fabulous day out, very relaxing. 30 kangaroos tried to race the train. Highly recommended train ride through rolling hills, bush and farm country.

Visited here today, and the enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff (probably volunteers) was awesome. We did not have time today but we will come back soon to take the full trip, first class looks awesome!

What a lovely experience.
The staff that work there are knowledgeable, informative and love to have a chat. The train itself is a stunning. A great piece of history.
The time in Maldon is just enough. I personally didn't need any longer. Enough time to browse the streets and have lunch.
It was a wonder day out with our 2 yo son.

Excellent way to spend an afternoon tripping to Maldon on the steam train. Volunteer staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the rail systems and the trains and their histories.
