Beautiful house, volunteer staff are very informative and helpful.
They were having a live drawing session on the gardens,the models dressed up in their best vintage outfits.

So amazing the family have left the house for the public to look through- its a gorgeous piece of history to Castlemaine.
Some bedrooms locked which was a bummer but still, give yourself enough time to soak in the gardens too.
Entry fee applies.

it’s interesting to see how the old day people lived and use the room, there is living room, dinning room, laundry room, maid room. there is a underground cellar where we can’t access at the moment, hopefully they will
open it up soon.
also, there is only one toilet which located outside of the main house. but what impress me most are the garden, with a tennis court. and the huge garden for the veggies or flowers.
right now, every are well taken care of, big trees there been living for such a long time

Very well-maintained home and garden, but the garden is a bit dry in the Summer, so I definitely recommend visiting in other seasons! It was interesting reading up on the history of the previous home owners.

Very passionate volunteers gave us an inspiring history and informative tour. You can't help but be inspired by the legacy of the great man that built this home. What a pioneer!
Highly recommended if you are keen on history and even if you are not I'm certain you will enjoy the art and this family's story. Can't believe it's free. Oh don't forget to wear the show covers

Gorgeous, well maintained house with well set out explanations and objects. Very interesting, I'd never heard of it even after driving past it once a week or so for my whole life! They need more marketing. The gardens are stunning, the daffodils are just starting now. The lady is friendly and helpful. Would visit again.

What a wonderful property. Shame some of the rooms are being used for admin purposes. Lovely to see the history is being preserved!

A real story of real people awaits you at this beautiful house museum. Everywhere you look are personal items that make Buda beautiful and evocative. The autumn garden would probably have benefitted from watering but it was still interesting to visit. I took advantage of the plant sales to buy a thyme plant.

Wonderful place to see soak up the genuine, untouched history". A "must visit" if you are ever in Castlemaine.
