Do yourself a favour and book a table here! The food is incredible and the service is outstanding. This is a couple that do everything themselves and they absolutely nail it. From the moment you walk in the door (warning - it's a bit hard to spot in the car park) you're warmly welcomed into a retro haven of delicious food, wine and service.
This was one of the best meals we had in the whole of Tasmania and would absolutely dine there again. The food is simple, fresh and local produce, prepared perfectly. You won't regret it!

We really loved the Waterloo restaurant. The food was awesome, the atmosphere and decor are very retro, and the people are really nice. It makes the whole experience very worthwhile.
I would recommend this as a MUST DO if you visit Swansea Tasmania.

Went to the restaurant for dinner. Food is delicious and served as reasonably priced generous sharing plates. I believe the menu changes constantly, but we had homemade focaccia, calamari, goat and pink eye potatoes. Plenty of food for 2 of us. Bookings are essential. Definitely recommend.

If you are looking for an ordinary pub experience this is not the place for you. If you are looking for delicious food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere you'll find no better place! This is hands down THE best meal we had in our two weeks travelling across Tasmania...and we had quite a few good ones during our time here.
The chef curates the menu seasonally and offers a varied selection of local produce that will delight your palates! Personal favourite of ours were the cod roe, tomato and basil entree (so refreshing!), braised rabbit (it fell off the bone just looking at it!) and the crayfish paccheri (so delicate and flavouful!)
Booking is a must and visiting if passing through Swansea is highly recommended!

As soon as Alex welcomed us, I knew we were in for a good night, and then as soon as I had the first bite of the first dish, I knew our gobs were too!
If you’re within any distance of Swansea, and you want to see what two dedicated restaurateurs can do with the best of local produce, the best of local, national, and international spirits and wines, all with a banging playlist, PLEASE go to The Waterloo!
Alex and Zac, you’ve got such a special place, I wish you the best!

To say this place is off its head good is an understatement. The waterloo was one of the main reason we came to Tasmania and made the trip to Swansea. Incredible, that this level of food, service, decor and wines are a result of a dedicated two person team. I will be back with bells on. A real shut up and take my money type situation <3

The food was incredible, everything was bursting with flavour and the service was excellent.
The dessert was a serious stand out.
Great atmosphere with comfortable seating options. Great local wines and a view to die for.

The Waterloo restaurant is definitely worth the drive. Such a nostalgic trip back in time with a banging 70s playlist and a restaurant full of furniture and crockery that will make your heart ache for your nan. The food is nana’s cooking but better…it’s delicious, fresh, zesty made from local produce with the menu changing weekly.
The wine menu is amazing - can’t put a foot wrong - and some of the local offering are the best
One of our best stops on our most recent trip of tassie…5 stars plus more!

Such a cool restaurant. Husband and wife team and some of the best food we have had in our two years in tassie. Do yourself a favour and book in advance so you can get in!

WOW. The food at this establishment was AMAZING. 2 person team that just are remarkable. Sharing plates, amazing playlist, old school funky vibe, great service and the food was to die for. Fresh produce, incredible meat and flavors. Spices, herbs. That dude knows how to cook!

To find a chef that is intune with his food is rare, this guy gets it!
Chargrilled octopus where it's not charred, but you can taste the char, and it's cooked to perfection.
Dishes that are perfectly balanced, courses that compliment each other.
Front of house is efficient, vibrant and polite.
A well oiled team.....

A real hidden gem. Husband and wife team showing how fine dining doesn’t have to be stuffy or overpriced. Don’t let the ho-hum hotel facade fool you; it gives some of Tassie’s best restaurants a run for their money. The vision, hard work and passion of these two is inspiring!

Phenomenal! Booked a table based on a recommendation and the dining experience exceeded all expectations. Every dish was outstanding, in particular the feather blade steak, malted creme brulee and the best baked choc cheesecake ever. Even the wines and beers are as unique as the dishes. To top it all off, it seemed to be run by two staff all evening who did an amazing job.

Bloody Brillant! Second time with friends. One of if not the best restaurant’s in Tassie! So welcoming & friendly! The food/wine/ beer is Devine! See ya next year Waterloo! Thanks for an awesome experience once again ✌

One of the best meals I have had in Australia hands down. Amidst a humble exterior nestles a phenomenal degustation experience that packs a real punch. The food was amazing. From the pork chop to the lemon verbena ice cream. I think if this place fondly. And what a view with the rainbow!

Highly recommend 💓💓
It was our Third day in Tasmania. After long drive from Stanley, we arrived Swansea beach around 6 pm. Just searching for any restaurant around and found this cozy diner. The food was surprisingly amazing and the service was kind and warm. We don’t eat land so we ordered house focaccia, fried calamari, Pepe rigate, crab spaghetti and choux craquellin for dessert. We were lucky to be the last group to dine in here this night. The delicious and warm food made our day :)

This is just about as unassuming as it gets. In the basement of a multi-level motel, the last think you expect is a 10/10 dining experience run by just about the friendliest locals you'll find anywhere in the world.
The food was amazing, the company was excellent and the drinks were just the cherry on top. If you're after an 80s vibe delicious sea food restaurant, this is the place to go.
