A quirky structure is well worth a look. Convict built in the 1800s & no one has explained why the spikes were added! Maybe to stop cows wandering off or as revenge by the convicts. Have fun guessing! A unique experience & a fascinating look into our convict heritage

Cool little stop with a bridge constructed by convicts on probation who were made to join government work gangs as a condition of their probation. It’s amazing what the have constructed and how it’s stood the test of time. No idea why it’s spiky but it’s made it kinda iconic

If you're travelling along the A3 highway, it's definitely worth stopping for a few minutes to visit. Very unique bridge, never seen anything like it.

Small and unique bridge. Lots of spikes out of stones. Stopped by during our trip from Swansea to Porth Arthur in the morning. No tickets required. Next to the main road.

Hard work for those convicts. Harsh light under the summer soon. Bitterly cold in winter.

It was raining but good to know about history of area and how road and settlement was developed by convict labour between Little Swanport and Swansea.

A surprise for us to spot this. Was very interesting read of the area and what was there originally.

Aptly named! A useful spot to stretch and rest your legs. There’s an information board that provides some historical context but the reason why spikes were added to the bridge remains “elusive”.

What an interesting little find on our drive around... Worth a visit for sure. For a little something extra, go over the road and visit the Beautifully secluded Spikey Beach. What a stunning hidden delight.

Great little spot to stop and stretch the legs! It’s a cool and very unique bridge that I believe is underrated! If you haven’t walked or driven over it, at least do it once to say you have ticked off the Spiky Bridge! Obviously it’s a 5 out of 5 stars from me! Can highly recommend!

History buffs will love this and the story behind it. Incredible in reality.

It’s literally the coolest bridge we have seen and there is an amazing plaque here explaining when and how it was built, excellent bit of history! You can drive on the spiky bridge and go out the other side but would be best if you had a 4WD to do so, we couldn’t take our caravan across but we could park our 26ft caravan in the parking area just fine- just had to reverse out!

Easy parking off highway, a good story board about area, however would've liked more info/history on the bridge itself.

Great history. Amazing to know how they did it with minimal machinery.

Interesting spot to stop on the highway and once again gaze & ponder at the astounding work of convict labourers.
