Really enjoyed my meal and experience. Livia served me and was kind, patient and cheerful, really added to a positive atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back for further meals.

Good food, good coffee, great service. Very friendly and very nice. The food menu is your usual cafe fare but it is not like any other cafe, obviously they have their own twists on things and how the food is done.
Highly recommend the Contessa Corn Cakes.

You have a lot of options in the menu.
I didn't know what to choose so I ask the staff member for some recommendations and it was good idea. You can ask any variation if you are not satisfied about the current menu.

The attitude of the manager who was working today was probably one of the best I have seen in any cafe in Sydney. I was initially going to give this place a 1 star review because we waited patiently (given that we saw the signage warning they were short staffed) for 45 minutes for our food only to find out when we asked about our order that the kitchen missed it even though the staff had definitely put it in the queue around the same time as the orders of a big table of 7 next to us who had already been served their food, finished it and left by the time we asked for ours. The manager was so genuine when she apologised and actually seemed really concerned we were going to leave hungry and upset which is something really rare in service these days. She even insisted on giving us the meals for free but when they brought out the food 5 minutes later (they actually can cook pretty quick!) we thought it was made really well and tasted great. Given this and the really genuine attitude of the manager, we insisted on paying for our food and the manager asked if we would at least accept a discount as an apology if we wanted to pay. I will be coming back to this place and was pleasantly surprised how I went from being really upset and annoyed to leaving as an impressed customer. The manager working today (Sunday 9 Oct) is an absolute asset to your business!

Very nice cafe. I was warmly welcomed as soon as I set my first foot in the door and was offered a menu as soon as I sat down. In fact the (I think) guy in charge I noticed was very attentive to the comings and goings of people. Very friendly staff. Great coffee. Eggs were perfectly cooked.

Contessa is the definition of the neighborhood cafe. The staff were cheerful and exciting, I was amazed when I saw one of their staff walk an elderly person across the street to the bus stop.
The food did not disappoint, the fritters was filling and hits the spot for Sunday morning! The omelette was delicious and flavoursome.
Can't wait to come back!

Brunch that never disappoints. Great staff and really good food. The menu is short and sweet and offer pretty much what would be in your mind on any morning/brunch time. Located in the heart of Balmain, they do some really good coffee and tea options. The mural on their wall radiates a certain positivity so great place to have a quick meeting or even a good brainstorming session and walk away with an idea! Definitely our ‘go to’ many times in a month.

Ah-may-zing!! Best breakfast I've had in a long time in Sydney! So much flavour, and the combinations are perfect! It's also a pretty funky place. Highly recommend it and will definitely be going back!!

We came for breakfast and it was really worth it. Tasty food, good value as the portion are quite big!

The staff was very friendly and there were a lot of Seats, even outside.

We have a double shot espresso that was very good.

Overall a great experience and definitely worth a visit.

Always great! Love the Iced-chai, the French toast is literally the best, fluffy and well made. Absolutely loved the burger as well.

I’ve found Eggs Benedict Heaven! Costing under $20, the Hollandaise sauce (the most important part) is made to perfection and clings to the eggs. The eggs are very fresh and not too runny. And the staff are so friendly even when it’s super busy.

Love Contessa's fruity frappes and eggs benedict, and the fry-up brekkie is what all big breakfasts should aim to be. Service is always friendly and now that they have the space next door, there's plenty of seating.

Oh my gosh DIVINE food!!! Had the brioche French toast with bacon, caramelised banana and pure maple syrup and it exceeded my expectations!!! Great coffee too, can’t wait to go back!

Everything about this place is amazing, the staff are great and the quality of the food is stunning! Best place to eat and drink in Balmain. The best coffee on earth, my kids love the banana bread!
