My Choice Variety Store

The people complaining about sub par customer service and bad quality, are really taking the mickey – this is a seriously no frills, super cheap shop, and the staff are hard working, do their job efficiently and with no fuss. I've never had a problem in about 5 years of going here. Nobody should expect a deluxe customer experience. You can get all sorts of household essentials, decorations, gift cards and wrap, etc, here. I've never had a problem, even when I've returned things (eg: I bought the wrong cable) for store credit. One of the guys that works there even re-printed a receipt for me once when I lost it, as I had to claim it for tax, which was above and beyond, without any fuss.

Surprisingly large selection

Basically you will find all sorts of odds and sods here from tools, kitchen ware, household stuff and more. It’s small but there is a lot of stuff in here. Often when I am looking for odds and sods I come here. It’s a family owned shop from what I can tell and it’s open seven days, or at least it seems that way. Prices are also not bad here but don’t expect high quality stuff.

Fairly basic but has lots of range and variety.

This place has EVERYTHING. A lot of it is cheap stuff but It does the job. They have cards, decorative boxes and packaging, costumes, party supplies, storage containers and boxes, all sorts of homeware, art supplies garden supplies, homeware maintenance, beauty, toys, craft and sports supplies plus a whole lot of other things. The staff don't understand customer service and the stuff is cheap, but if you really need a quick fix for something, this is the place

To say it was awful experience for me would be highly underestimated. They accused me of trying to steal a padlock (2.50$!) because I had to put it into my bag as I needed to answer my phone and I also had to buy pegs from them. Needless to say they had little idea as for what pegs were and offered me a washing bag 2 times. And told me in broken English 3 times at the counter they would call the coppers while I obviously would pay for it and checked my handbag with their hands. What an awful end of the day, I won't ever go there again.

After shopping at this store for 5 years and being known to the storekeeper as a regular customer, I purchased a dog toy that I found had soft plastic inside, like a plastic bag or plastic wrap - a serious choking hazard for dogs. My dog had ripped the toy open (nothing unusual about that, every other toy contains white stuffing material) and begun tearing up the plastic with his teeth, spitting out small bits of plastic. I took the toy and receipt back to the store, not even concerned about getting a refund or replacement but wanting the store to be aware of the danger of the product. As soon as the store owner realised I had a problem, she became astonishingly rude, loud and hysterical. She said they were retailers, not manufacturers, and they don't know what's inside the products. I told her that's why I was showing her. I explained she had a responsibility to take dangerous products off the shelf. She told me to go complain to fair trading, waved aggressively at the door and said "Go Way". I asked her if she had a dog herself and the answer was, of course, no. When I told her this soft plastic can cause a dog to choke and die, she literally rolled her eyes. I went to the dog toy shelf, found five other identical products (a squeaky toy shaped like a turkey), brought them to the front counter along with a different replacement toy of equal value. I told her to take the dangerous toys off the shelf (I have no doubt they are now right back there) and I showed her the toy I was taking as a replacement. I walked out. She started screaming YOU ROBBER YOU ROBBER. I reminded her that I'd showed her my receipt (she wasn't interested in the slightest) and that she doesn't care about product safety nor stand by her products. And I left. At all times i was polite and calm, though appalled at this woman's behaviour over one $7.50 purchase compared to my 5 years of regularly shopping there. I will never go back, nor will my family and friends. Be warned: do not buy pet items from this store, be wary of other items and if you ever need a refund or replacement, you won't get it.

If this does happen to you, stand your ground. Do not let this awful woman fail to uphold her duties as a retailer and don't allow her to treat you in this obnoxious way.

Side note: this store is utterly filthy. Check the floor as you walk in, just underneath the displays near the entrance. Wear a dust mask. Better yet, steer well clear.

Shop is full of cheap garbage. And if it breaks because of its low-grade quality, your request for an exchange or refund will result in the rudest retail experience you'll ever have. The owner is a liar and will tell you that 'you're the only one that this has ever happened to'. She has no concept of customer service or retention. Let the buyer beware.

Really disappointing. Lack of customer service the lady at the front register was blantently rude on a number of times. Zero etiquette. I have also found although sometimes it’s possible to pick up a bargain, a lot things are actually cheaper to find elsewhere. & you’ll probably get a smile !
