Super impressed by this place. An enormous amount of historical items and information here. Some highlights include being able to walk through an old train carriage, seeing an old class room fully set up and a huge display of cameras throughout the years. Entry for adults is only $5 and you can easily spend a couple of hours here

We got married at the chapel inside the calliope historical village. We hired both the chapel and pub for the wedding, Mona from the Historical village was lovely to deal with. The planning of the wedding went smoothly and the staff/ volunteers went above and beyond to ensure the day went perfectly. I could of not asked for a more beautiful place to have our special day

Fantastic place to stop for some lunch and a wander around the various buildings filled with Australian history. The staff there are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to look after you. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. It seems you can also camp there by the river for free, but we were just passing through.

We spent a lovely morning roaming around the 'town' and met a few of the 'locals'. It was a real step back in time with many facets of the local history. The people were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Loved it!

Great free camp, we were on the northside with great river views. You must be self contained on the northside but there are amenities on the southside.

A must see when travelling through or when staying at the river. We visited for morning and tea decided to do the tour, glad we did! Fantastic history and museums along with open cottages of times gone by. Well worth the $5 entrance fee, the staff are also lovely.

We took a drive on Sunday to check out the markets located in the Historical Village on the outskirts of Calliope.
There were so many stalls selling all kinds of wares. There were also lots of food trucks.
Whilst there you can visit all of the various preserved houses and buildings.
For the kids there is a train that goes around a specially built track.
Such a unique idea to combine the old with the new.
There is plenty if parking and the entry fee to the markets was $2.00.

Looking forward to the market day on next week. Very big event with 100 +stalls.
Nice day out with good variety of collections and displays. The buildings are moved there and have historical information. Cafe food is worth the stop

Just loving our stay at Calliope and our walk through this beautifully kept historical Village which is maintained by volunteers. It’s an absolute credit to them and definitely worth a visit. It’s located just off the Hwy and has a volunteer run cafe that serves up the best scones and coffee. Great for the whole family.

Great free stop over, nice views, we stayed on the north side which is higher from the river and for self contained vans, turn off from Bruce highway easy to miss 😀

Excellent displays of how it was.

Buildings are a collection transported to the site from the local area. Worth time and entry price.
