Can always find a great gift for any age or interest, plus usually can't help myself with the local or novel or special interest selection they stock. The staff are always helpful, they gift-wrap if you ask, and order-in if they don't have what you're looking for. Love this store, so happy it's in our town.

The BEST bookstore a bibliophile could ask for: enormous range; brilliant location; a staff that are so helpful, knowledgeable and willing to find what's requested; and they're kind and welcoming of small humans! Never been disappointed with a visit or interaction here.

I’ve always had great service from these guys. I love the variety of books they stock and they are happy to order in anything they don’t have. Being able to walk into a shop overflowing with books and talking to people who love books too is a kind of heaven, and you just don’t get that from ordering online.

When I first decided to move from Melbourne to Castlemaine five years ago one of the number of significant reasons for the decision was the existence of Stoneman’s Bookstore. The range of books is excellent. It’s like having Readings in Castlemaine- always a delight to browse & buy.

The people, the place, and most importantly the books, this is the highlight for me of Castlemaine. The staff here are thoughtful, welcoming, inclusive, informed and supportive of community members seeking a refuge in the comfort and adventure of literature. Love this place, love the people, they are worthy of kindness and our eternal gratitude for supplying books in castlemaine.

Stonesmans is a sancturary, books that have carved spaces in my heart have come from this shop. Their curation of titles is perfection. Us locals all know the famliar gift wrap and feel warmed when we see it used time and time again. The staff are always willing to take time and thoughtfulness to suggest the a book that may be kf interest of order one that is not in stock. Even an aimless wander in this generous hearted store is restorative for the soul.
