Belmont Homestead

Unique and pleasant experience.
We stayed at the Gypsy Rose which was very quaint and pleasant. John & Maureen were very pleasant to speak to and deal with from the beginning. They gave us recommendations of places to eat in the area and were very responsive.
We did a trip in the Freycinet National Park and didn’t want to break the bank on a night at a hotel - this place was perfect for that.

PS not that we needed it, but there was no wifi and limited reception (we’re both with Telstra). But just a heads up.

What a cozy place! Such caring attention to detail in the accommodations. Maureen and John set us up on very late notice, after we’d had a camping disaster. They were warm and welcoming! Special mention for the incredibly comfortable bed and great shower.

My partner and I absolutely loved Belmont homestead! We stayed in the Bentmore cottage and it was so quaint. The room was cosy, well equipped and decorated beautifully. We really enjoyed the fire place - a novelty to us coming from far North Queensland. Maureen and John were attentive hosts and made us feel very comfortable. The grounds are charming and we had heaps of fun feeding the animals. Would highly recommend ❤

Such a lovely spot on our way down the coast to Hobart. Maureen and John were absolutely amazing and so helpful! Kids loved the chickens, goats and sheep to play with. The watering hole to swim in was such a bonus! A great spot to stay for exploring the Freycinet National Park. Highly recommend staying in this beautiful homestead.

We had a wonderful stay at Belmont Homestead. Maureen and John were extremely welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in the Belmont Wing, it was clean, cosy and had all the essentials. The property is absolutely beautiful. There is a lovely orchard which they were kind enough to let us pick from, there is also a water hole which is very refreshing to swim in and some adorable sheep, goats and chickens. It is in a great spot, approx 45 mins from Freycinet, and very close Swansea and some of the east coast wineries. Will absolutely be visiting again next time we are in Tassie!!

Maureen went above and beyond the call of duty offering my partner and I a breakfast basket to make the cherry on top part of our stay & experience.

I can tell she's passionate about the land and upkeep of the place we stayed (Gypsy Rose) and she made sure it was sufficient for our needs and gave a proper walk through.

She also went out of her way to help us find a restaurant that suited our tastes; we chose the Salt Shaker for my birthday evening.

Beautiful homestead! My mum and I stayed in the Gypsie Rose and it was such a fun, unique experience. There's animals (goats, chicken, rabbits) and fruit trees (apples, mulberries, pears) and the gardens are beautiful. The owners are really lovely and welcoming and I just want to move in and stay forever! Definitely worth a visit.

Belmont house was beautiful and so were the owners Maureen and John. Their love for the place radiates through their comfortable and gorgeous accommodation and garden! They are so excited to do more and more so us lucky guests get to enjoy it too! Such warm folk who could quite easily become your friends if you lived in Swansea! Thank you!!!

We stayed in the Gypsy van overnight only (would have stayed longer with pleasure but just needed one night ). Very cute funky little space with a comfortable bed and all mod cons, very clean, lovely balcony to sit on, have your coffee, enjoy birds, fresh air and a little river (when it fills with water!). Very friendly hostess who even offered us fruits from her little orchard. Enjoyed it very much.

We stayed in a beautiful little cottage. Mix of old with new kitchen/bathroom. Comfortable bed. Hostess was really nice and ran into town to get us extra water when the power went out. We had a little balcony which was great for wine and cheese and stargazing at night. They also have several fruit trees on the property you are free to pick and eat, including apples, pears and mulberries. Also complimentary port and chocolate.

We stayed in Bentmore Cottage 2 weeks ago - lovely cosy stay - Maureen & John were terrific hosts. Supplied us with bacon & eggs! Roaring fire welcomed us! Overall a very unique stay!! Loved it - Gary & Brenda Steele

Absolutely loved our stay in the 1850’s Bentmore Cottage! Such a cute little place, a part of the beautiful Belmont Homstead. Hosts John and Maureen made us feel right at home and even provided us with some bacon, eggs, bread and butter for our breakfast. All your little extra touches did not go unnoticed! Could not fault any part of this stay, would go back in a heart beat! Manny and Vincent Van Goat were also a highlight. Thanks for a lovely, peaceful stay John and Maureen - just what we needed!

We had a delightful stay in Gypsy rose on Belmont homestead! The space was quirky and cosy with everything you could need. The goats are just darling and I was lucky enough to take them for a walk!!

The cottage was absolutely beautiful to stay at with a kitchen, ensuite and fireplace. Maureen puts in all the extra touches with fresh flowers in the room and many other little homely touches. It’s the type of accomodation that you book for one night and kick yourself for not staying more. We will be back

An absolutely pleasant experience! The place was beautiful with gardens and animals to interact with, smelled like roses everywhere! We had everything needed and the place was decorated with classy furnitures, high class toiletries towels everything was provided, late check-in was well accommodated, host was extremely friendly and so were her cats! This will be an excuse for me to return to tasmania !!!

An absolutely beautiful property with friendly goats and chickens (!!), amazing bird life, running stream behind and lots of fruit trees to graze on. Hostess Linda was amazing and couldn't have done more to accommodate us, we only wish we could have stayed longer!

I cannot express such a experience as this without being too overly enthusiastic with my words of praise. Although I must confess I am deeply in love with the friendliness and hospitality that does come with just the simple Homestead itself. Although simple is a very under used word in this circumstance, because this place is by far too incredibly impressive to give it such a simple exclamation. Every detail of this place screams perfection and homeliness. Can’t wait to come by here again, the goats and chickens are a must see!

We had the most wonderful stay at Belmont Homestead in their cottage. Such a cozy space and very hospitable hosts. We would love to go back.

Michael and Linda have been perfect hosts with every comfort for our stay catered for from the wood heater being set for us to port and chocys .

We stayed in the little cottage, Bentmore, that reputedly dates to the 1850s. Lovely little place on the Tasman Highway with a bit of history. And goats and alpacas and sheep and chooks... Very welcoming hosts. Our only regret was that it wasn't cold enough to light the fire...
