What a beautiful place to stay! Dog friendly cottages available on the river, so much wildlife to watch from the balcony.

Gwen is fab! We had her beautiful homemade lasagne our first night and she minded our dog, Mojo on the Saturday for us so we could go explore some waterfalls.

Overall, perfect weekend away

We have just come back from a wonderful stay at Chilverton Cottages over the Christmas period. Three days of total relaxation. Platypus cottage directly overlooks the river & it was hard to do anything other than stare at the river looking at the tortoises & hoping to see a platypus ( which we did!) And all the wonderful bird noise was a delightful backdrop to the river.
Gwen cooked us a wonderful 3 course meal on Christmas Eve for my birthday. How she had the time & energy I do not know as the next day we had a most amazing Christmas lunch . It included every possible item you could want on your Christmas table. And then some!
Gwen is a wonderful host while Bruce is kept very busy attending to the grounds.
The cottage itself was a delight. Very comfortable & clean. We loved it & so did our puppy dog & we hope to have the chance to stay again.

Gwen is very friendly and her property is amazing. Very tranquil and perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle. We had a very relaxing massage and a dinner at the restaurant. The Rosella cabin was great and very close to the water. Cabins have a covered carport, fire place and a Webber BBQ. River has lots of turtles but we didn’t see any platypus… maybe next time. Very calming atmosphere where you can go and hear the bird chripping and the turtles popping their head up in the river. The channels on the TV are very limited but not much you can do there. Highly recommend. Thanks so much Gwen for the amazing stay will definitely be coming back.

Our stay at Platypus Cottage was delightful. Sitting on the deck watching the river go by with tortoises bobbing about, listening to the birds, and taking in the stunning forest with tall trees was so relaxing. The cottage was immaculate, well-equipped with a very comfortable bed. The grounds of Chilverton Cottages are beautifully maintained and provide a great walk - don't miss the suspension bridge across the creek.

Three course meal was fabulous. Gwen and Bruce were delightful and caring people. They have put a lot of hard work into maintaining and making Chilverton Cottages really special. Very dog friendly too!

A great weekend away in a wonderful location. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a relaxing location look no further. Our host Gwen was very warm and inviting and extremely helpful, her love for pets makes it a really inviting experience to bring yours. We enjoyed the privately catering dinner supplied by Gwen and our dog Louie couldn't have been more cared for. As our first trip away with him, Gwen made us feel very relaxed in her home and cottage. I highly recommend the Platypus cottage, the fire place was cosy and amenities well thought out. Sitting by the creek on the deck watching the sun rise and turtles play is a delightfully wholesome experience. The grounds are absolutely spectacular, the care and attention to them with fire pits and benches throughout are a real credit to the owners and were my personal highlight.

Beautiful property and comfy cabins with everything you need for an escape from the daily grind with your beloved fur babies . No phone reception in the cabin was a blessing as we truely unplugged. Sitting in front of the fire watching a movie and sipping the most delish home made port was a highlight!! We booked for 3 course dinners with the puppy menu included and hot breakfasts, the food was sublime and paws down you could not ask for a nicer experience. Gwen was amazingly warm and welcoming and we cannot wait to come back. Layla and Cruise miss you and the puppy park already.

Gwen was the most perfect host. She welcomed us (and two rather large dogs) with open arms and treated us all like family. Between the delicious homemade 3 course meal (for us and the dogs!), the warm and comfortable accommodation, the beautiful walking trails and off-leash doggy park, it was exactly what we needed to get away from it all. 100% recommend and we are trying to find a date to visit again!

We stayed in the kingfisher studio, beautifully set amoungst the trees/garden , very clean, makes you feel very much like it's only you there in the tranquil garden's. We had the set three course meal for our three night stay, food was all delicious. Hostess was very friendly and helpful.
Staying at the cottages turned out to be a blessing, accommodation at mount surprise was all booked out which is how we ended up at Chilverton.
Chilverton is only a short drive to most attractions where as Mount Surprise would have been a two to three hour drive to see anything. Mount surprise has the Lava caves but that's it.
Would highly recommend Chilverton to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle as well as being in a central location for your tourist outings.

Chilverton Cottages has become my and my dogs and cats favourite place to relax and get away from the world. We have stayed at the cottages four times now. I love that dogs and cats are not just allowed but encouraged and loved. My babies love the cottage and love Gwen and Bruce. Gwen even puppy sat for me on our last visit. The cottages are well appointed and beautifully clean. It’s amazing sitting on the front deck with my furry kids watching turtles and platypus. The whole atmosphere is relaxing and the day spa is a lovely treat. We really look forward to our next visit.

My partner and I booked a night at Chilverton Cottages to stay in the Platypus cottage for a kid free relaxing getaway and we got exactly what we asked for. Our experience from booking until departure were fantastic. Gwen was extremely friendly and enjoyed having a joke and personalised our massage bookings as much as she could. Gwen met us upon arrival and we signed the paperwork and took the car down to the cottage before my partner went up for a massage from Gwen and I got us set up in the cottage and relaxed on the deck the rest of the time watching the turtles. I then went up for a massage package and was relaxed before she really even got into the massage, it was amazing! We didn't have any food from the restaurant this time, and unfortunately we only stayed for 1 night. But we are definitely wanting to make this an annual kid free relaxation getaway and make it for 2-3 nights. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from the rush of life and relax, disconnect from technology, and reconnect with your partner or yourself (even if you choose to not use the restaurant or day spa)

This was an absolutely amazing location and stay. The surrounds are stunning and the cottage and amenities so well presented. My host Gwen couldn't do enough to make me and my pup Jasper feel welcome and part of the family. Highly recommend this stay as the perfect base to explore the tablelands or to just completely chill out and watch the turtles, platypus, birds and other wildlife from the comfort of your front veranda. Chilverton cottages is one of the best places you could go to with your loved ones and pets.
It is super pet friendly, the food there amazing just like the owners. (Gwen & Bruce)
It’s huge and and a wonderful layout, especially if you love going for walks and connecting with nature.

The location was wonderful and Bruce and Gwen took the time to make sure everything was in order. They took the time to catchup and have a drink or two with you and discuss the local area which provided some interesting history on the area. The food cooked on site by Gwen with the assistance of Bruce was great and very generous serving sizes. I would recommend this place to anyone who just wants to chill out, hope to get back their at some stage.

This place is a hidden gem! Incredibly peaceful with beautiful scenery, you won’t find a better place to relax and recharge. The Rosella cottage was in the perfect location, right by the stream and it was very clean and included all the amenities that you need! Gwen and Bruce are great hosts who will leave you to enjoy yourself or join you for a wine and beer at the reception area.

We will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay in this fantastic place! Amazing night away just not long enough we will be back to stay longer! Great location and the accomodation was excellent! Great host in Gwen and thought our 3 course meal and of course a three course meal for our 11 month old rescue pup Delilah was fantastic. Didn’t think it would work with all three of us at dinner but it did and it was a great evening! Would thoroughly recommend Chilverton Cottages and we will be back soon! Thank you ❤

We had an amazing stay at Chilverton Cottages. We were welcomed by the super friendly owner, Gwen. The cottage was a delight and the massage was amazing. Gwen was even kind enough to drop off a left behind item into Cairns for us! We will definitely be returning for another visit with our doggy friend.

We have been to these cottages before and were looking forward to returning as we really enjoyed our stay last time.

We stayed at one of the creek-side cottages that overlook the water. The focus of the setting is the lovely bushland and gardens that surround the cottage, so you spend a lot of the time out on the deck. The hosts really value their guest’s privacy.

At Chilverton you are paying for the solitude and peaceful aspect with the ability to have your dogs with you. The cottages are clean, and the bed is big and comfortable . Having a dog run and lots of paths around the property means that you can walk your pupper and have a lot for both of you to explore. The hosts can even dog sit for you if you ask to travel solo during the day.

We stayed in the Rosella cabin and loved it, we loved being able to bring our dog along and he had a great time too. We spent the afternoon roaming the immaculate grounds and letting the dog have a run around in the dog park, sitting on the deck watching the turtles and platypus, it was great to be able to light the fire and curl up on the couch and then slept like a baby in our king size bed. We enjoyed it so much I've already rebooked for next month. It really is just so relaxing there.

Chilverton cottages was the perfect weekend getaway with our pooch. The grounds are stunning, Gwen is very friendly and the food was great. We enjoyed travelling around the local area just as much as we enjoyed relaxing in the cottage and watching the wildlife.
