The Outpost Retreat

Just enjoyed a delicious family lunch at The Outpost bistro.

Such a beautiful location to sit and relax with a great meal and friendly service. My wife and I enjoyed the fresh made lasagne and our daughter the kids staple of chicken nuggets and chips.

Very much looking forward to returning soon.

Stopped here for lunch and wasn't disappointed. The meals were a great size and were very tasty. The beer and drinks were nice and cold and service friendly. Dogs are welcome when outside seated. Make sure you drop in...

Absolutely sensational lunch with friends and family!! This is a must do!

Been coming here for 5 years, it's a great place to visit. Situation right on La Trobe River. We stay in the cabins. They are spacious with plenty of beds and a great balcony with views, plus air conditioning. We enjoy sitting outside watching the cows walk past and listening to the abundant bird life. The Tool Shed restaurant has great chicken parmas. With GF and vegetarian options too. Highly recommend this place.

This restaurant really surprising me. The big breakfast is very yummy. It is really very big. The mushroom is die for. And the venue is great.
Outside, there is a lovely cat, a very interesting dog. And cows and horse. I took many photos.

The Outpost has offered consistent excellent quality in food and service in the 5 or 6 times I have been lucky enough to dine there.

The decor is rustic and has a comfortable homely feel.

I never hesitate to recommend The Outpost to family and friends.

Toolshed Bistro was welcoming and cozy on a cold day. Meals exceeded our expectations. We'll be back.

Great accommodation. Cosy warm with electric blankets and heating. Lovely view of the river in our cabin and the toast, juice, tea and coffee for brekky was a lovely touch.
Easy check in and out. Great price as well.

Just two hours out of Melbourne CBD, so quiet and tranquil. Lots of great short walk to do, galleries, coffee shops two great pubs to enjoy larger meals and an aray of other great eateries

Very peaceful for lunch. Great menu. Able to eat upstairs in main area or downstairs in lovely eating area. Lovely view. Well worth the drive

The best atmosphere,set in a great little town,been a few times now,and will be back,the best meals,staff friendly,long wait for lunch,but that only coz of Easter,normally good waiting times,beats the pub as we only went there once 🍻

Great meals, good service & the owner Dave was a great host.
