Hansons Peak

Hansons Peak, is worth a peek, as its one handsome peak. From the carpark was about 2 hours, and getting back while we kept going around the Lake track, was another 2 hours or so. Could do it quicker without stopping for photos all the time. Beautiful snow was on this walk for us, and a lovely sunny day made it truly magical.

Gorgeous trail. First time seeing cradle mountain from the other side. And the views are just as stunning. It’s quite a climb up and quite steep at a certain section which requires a bit of a scramble up. Make sure you give yourself enough time to scramble back down if returning the same way (especially if you’re trying to catch the last bus back).

An extremely rewarding hike. Amazing views over Cradle Mountain on a clear day. Challenging, with chains to assist with the rock scramble. Note track can get quite icy and slippery in winter. We parked at Ronny Creek, walked along Lake Lilla track, up Hansons Peak then descended to Dove Lake where we caught the bus back. All up was 6-7hrs but that was with many stops to take photos! Brilliant hike in a truly spectacular part of Tassie. Challenging terrain in a few places, but not ridiculously so. The track is pretty rough, but well marked the whole way up. Definitely need decent hiking shoes.

Perhaps a less popular trail at Cradle Mountain but well worth doing! The views from the top of Hansons Peak are spectacular. It's also a great spot to watch the sunrise. Either hike up to Hansons peak and return back to Dove Lake track the same way, or continue on up to the Face Track and take in Lake Wilks along the way, or return via the super pretty Twisted Lakes. Probably worth noting it is a steepish semi exposed hike at times up Hansons Peak, but there is a safety chain to hold on to if needed. Any time of the day, any time of the year is spectacular here!

Absolutely stunning place.

What a scenic trail! Overlooking Mt Campbell on one side, the magical view of Dove Lake and Cradle Mountain on the other side! And many other tarns and mountains... A really scenic trail indeed! One can also hike to the Cradle Mountain from here!

Awesome views 360. Similar to the trail up to Marion's lookout on other side of Dove lake. Includes a chain assisted ascent if you approach from Dove lake carpark. Definitely worth the hike up.

Excellent walk! Some difficult rock scrambling in the last 50 metres but well worth it.
