Best spot on the mountain. Fire place, drying facilities and fresh rain water supply available. The toilets are 5 star with million dollar views of Cradle Mountain.
Awesome cabin.

Loved this hut. You can't beat the price. It's just a simple A frame, 2 levels: ground floor kitchen with a woodburning stove for cold nights and upstairs open floor on which to lay your mat and sleeping bag. They've been busy outside building new platforms for tents. Lovely setting right near the lake.

The Scott Kilvert Hut is the beautiful, much loved place for my sister in law, who we lost due to an illness. It brings us joy to know she passed in a place she loved so much. Helen Joy Stewart aged 45, 2012, nurse, wife, mother and great human being.

Scott kilvert hut is a great place to camp overnight and only a few hours from the cradle mountain carpark. Has a pit toilet and a beautiful lake nearby.

Spent four hours walking from the Dove Lake carpark. We took the detour via Twisted Lakes Track to avoid Hanson’s Peak.
However, on the next day, we found that the estimated time to Kitchen Hut is FAR from accurate. On the board, it says 1.5 hours to Kitchen hut (via Bensons Peak), but we actually spent 3+ hours!
Speaking of facilities, this hut is awesome. The toilet is very clean, but there is NO toilet paper, so remember to bring your own. Rain water tank is behind the hut, and coal is provided in the tanks.
