Omg soooo hot!! At 40 degrees I'd recommend doing it at night in the summer. The showers are free with good pressure but smells of eggs. Very clean and well maintained compared to the other ones on the way up here.

Be warned, it is HOT 🔥. Expect 40° temperature. Take a water bottle for hydration.

It's such a treat to travel through Outback NSW & Qld to find these warm bathing pools.
Lightning Ridge doesn't disappoint with its fabulous FREE, open 24/7, hot Artesian pool. It is located just on the outskirts of town.
Spacious pools (x2), ladders & stairs to assist in getting in, toilets & showers available. Heaps of parking and some seated sheltered areas.
Closed between 10am & 12pm for daily cleaning

Now that's what you call a hot spa. Nothing fancy, just a big bath, and it's completely free. I met a local bloke there who was in his eighties, but he looked seventy, been going there for years, he said!

Amazing that this attraction is free, just walk in and enjoy the thermal pool with other like minded people. Lovely to chat to people while enjoying the 41 degree water. 😀

Hot, hot ,hot. We were there at the end of January so whilst it was hot anyway, after a dip in the spa, the water was even hotter. But after 20 minutes we were out and having a shower which leaves you feeling better than before and cooler.

Relaxing absolutely. Great hot pool, plenty off room. Hot water and cold Showers on site inside and out. Free entry, parking outside gate walk in and night lights used for late night dip. It's great the water is put to good use for the environment as it was tapped and now helps in mining. 40 + degrees, hotter than mataranka, dalhousie hot springs and daily waters.

What a way to step back in time. The communal vibe feels Like your in the 70’s or even 50’s

Entry is free, open 24hrs, hot and cold showers, change rooms, picnic tables

Main pool ~9m dia and 1.6m deep
Kiddy pool ~4m dia and .4m deep

Truly unique experience. The Artesian Bore Baths are naturally heated to over 40 degrees! Takes a little getting used to bit once you do, it's a uniquely invigorating experience have your body in 40 degrees water with your head being cooled by the night breezes! Recommend going at night - it's open 24/7 and is 100% free

Fantastic artesian bore baths if a little on the hot side. Admission is free and the pools are open 24/7. Not pet friendly. Has 2 pools, the large one at around 42 degrees +-, and a smaller one that's a bit cooler and only shallow (deep enough to sit in). We started in the shallow one for a while and then went to the big one. Should only spend about 5 minutes in the pool at one time then get out to cool down before you can go back in. Apparently if you have low/ high blood pressure, heart problems or other health issues definitely only spend short amounts of time then allow your body to cool again. Very relaxing and enjoyable. A must do.

Years ago a uni mate and I enjoyed a soak here, amidst solitude and starlight. A long train ride through the mountains and hills, followed by a long bus ride through sheep country, racing the kangaroos and emus with ABBA on the sound system, brought us to this crusty one-pub town at the frontier.

We toured the old opal mines, then pitched our tent out in the bush atop the chalky terrain. Walking idly through the village at the mellowing end of day, we found a humble pool that steamed quietly into the cooling air. The water was clean, abundant, and so very satisfying. The whole earth comforted us in a warm embrace, under a massive starry sky.

I lost touch with my travelling companion long ago. I wonder if he remembers how perfect the universe was that night.

Free yet good! Something you don't always get! You wanna have a shower afterwards as has a sulphur aroma about it...

It's fairly boomer-centric but good nevertheless

Very unique experience and its free. But does need some maintenance done as its showing its age. Sometimes there is ques during public holidays.

It was one of the best experiences of my life. Just the whole atmosphere, the vision of the bath & the steam waffting upwards towards the openess and expanse of a millions stars layed out before you what a stunning backdrop to veiw whilst letting the magic of the Artesian bath wash away your aches n pains or just to sit and relax the weary body, young to the old can enjoy this amazing experience, its very quiet just soft voice chatting about there day ....truely cannot describe the feeling of being there ....if you can make the trip ...DO IT

A great spot to unwind after a long day of exploring. Only visited late at night, but everyone had a very chill vibe and observed social distancing. The water is very hot, I found it was best to stay in until I felt too warm then walk around in the cold air until I needed to warm up again! If the large pool is too hot for you there is a smaller pool that's a fair bit colder. The water makes your skin feel really soft and the magnesium would help any muscle pain, but remember to hydrate lots afterwards!

Well maintained, and clean. With showers and changing area. Fenced with carpark
Sunset or sunrise are awesome times to drop in for a thermal dip.

Free attraction close to Lightning Ridge , and caravan park after a days drive or sight seeing the opal fields its good spot to relax, ,refreshing / rejuvenating artesian bore water, follow the rules and shower prior to a soak. Water temperature is 40 - 46C so take care with young children .expect some slime that grows on the sides. NB can be closed from 10- 1200 for cleaning .
