Green Car Door Tour

I was impressed with all the car door tours of Lightning Ridge and this one in particular. They are such a simple idea and well executed. If you follow Google maps it may take you down the wrong track so you will miss the beginning of the car doors so find the road entry per your map from the Visitor Centre and enter at car door #1. It is interesting to see how miners live on their temporary camps in the area. Sunset is gorgeous here, plus some monuments, a rock art installation and beer house - that seem to be a popular in The Ridge per capital! Take the drive!

Find out when sunset is, then start this tour half an hour earlier.
This tour takes you to the 1st Shaft Lookout taking you past some interesting sites and yet another house made out of bottles and cans!!
The sunset at the lookout over the scrub and Coocoran opal fields is spectacular!

Easy drive. Not much along the way but the lookout is great to visit.

Not actually anything to see on the tour, however do the tour just before sunset and whatcha the sun go down it is pretty epic

We really enjoyed this tour.

i came here and didn't pay for the guided tour paper. i could of saved my shock absorbers and fillings. i could of had a better car for the job as my 2WD was not suitable, the road needs grading to make it more tourist friendly. i would only recommend coming with 4WD.

Must do when visiting Lightening Ridge

Would be better if the roads were in better condition.
