While not your typical accommodation, there’s a welcoming and relaxed energy with both the location and from the host, Rebel.
I’ve stayed here a couple of times for retreats and have loved it both times!
Lightning Ridge is a long drive from most places, but there’s enough here for it to be worth the trip. Shops a short drive away to get all your essentials. Thermal baths are a must and also only a short drive away.
Highly recommended.

The food is superb. What a surprise. In the middle of nowhere and all cooked from a 40 foot container.

Fabulous gathering place in Lightning Ridge. A foodie event where stalls selling Thai, Mexican, lemon myrtle cheesecake, wattleseed muffins, pumpkin soup plus more all featured on the menu. A camp fire roared and a movie played in a big old shed with couches spread around to sit on. I believe they have other functions/workshops here as well, but I’m just getting to know the place so I’m not quite clear on everything it does. The story of how the Thai Thursday and Friday pop up came to be here is worth knowing. Tonight was the Food of the World markets and Jimmy Little movie celebration. Really cool outback evening.

Awesome authentic Thai food unfortunately due to covid restrictions only takeaway, & delivery service available & @ this time no on-site dining & functions but from feedback from locals a n awesome outback outdoor dining & functions facility..if your a visitor to lightning ridge like myself & you love Thai food then check this place out

This is an authentic outback glamping experience. The tent itself is clean and well-equipped and Michael and Rebel are very welcoming and helpful. Due to the recent floods and the (typical) high summer temperature, there were a lot of mosquitoes. I’m not just saying it - there are actually lots of them. Adding to it is the fact that the tent is set up next to a small dam and where there’s water, there are more mosquitoes. There are always four five mosquitoes roaming in the toilet and bathroom as well. It is also very very hot out here so better come in winter in my opinion after having shortened our stay here. Also note that on many summer nights, Lightning Ridge has strong wind around 1-3 am. So when you are sleeping, you are hearing dogs, insects, and wind blowing (hopefully no mosquitoes because you have gotten rid of them all). Toilet is a bit far and this does post some small inconvenience.
