Great location and clean hostel with super friendly, accommodating staff! The lobby/kitchen area is quite big and it’s easy to make friends here. Bathrooms were very clean and the a/c worked well in the room. I appreciated the big lockers in the room and how often housekeeping came in as well. The rooftop bar area was lovely for socializing and morning yoga. Definitely recommend staying here!

I had a dorm for men with a own bath for ~145A$ per night.
Each bed has its own light and plug. The cabinet can be locked and has its own plug inside as well. The room had a central AC, which could not change the temperature.
The rooms and bath are clean. You can get a towel for an extra fee.
The hostel has a rooftop terrace with a view over the harbor. You'll see the Opera house as long as there's no cruise ship in it.
There's a co-working space with a kitchen and cafe. The staff was nice and attentive.
Overall a great Hostel, would go there again.

During my three-night stay in a private room at this hostel, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional experience it provided. As a first-time hostel, I had no idea what to expect, but this place exceeded all my expectations. The room itself was not only nice and clean, but also wonderfully quiet, allowing for a peaceful sleep. My room had a great view of the Opera House and you can see the fireworks display from the comfort of your room. I can confidently say that the view from the hostel's rooftop is nothing short of amazing. Additionally, the staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to assist, making my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a nice place in the area.

We were so impressed with YHA, and we are old farts! Staff was incredibly friendly, location was awesome, rooms were clean and comfortable. They have wonderful gathering areas, and it was so interesting. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Really nice private rooms. Effective air con. Great prices. Just beware if paying extra for harbour views the opera house may be obstructed during the day by cruise ships in port.

Great price for accommodation in the Sydney Rocks area. The room was clean and fresh with a great view of the Opera house. Also, the continental breakfast was cheap and had a good selection for breakfast. The site of the YHA is perfect if you are interested in a bit of historh as well.

The location itself is really close to Tourist Landmarks. Walked to Darling Harbour And the Sydney Opera House on another day (Very centralised location) and across the Sydney harbour bridge on my last day (all within an hour).

Service was great upon check-in and during the extension of my stay. As the level I was staying in was above a cafeteria, the morning scraping of chairs and footsteps were a tad too loud. (Improve soundproofing?). Other than that, everything else was amazing as a hostel should and perfect for budget travellers. Love having a private bathroom , although since you might be sharing with strangers, you have to choose a time not to disturb your mates. Very mobile friendly but able to request for physical key if needed. Kitchen and storage area is clean and washing my own utensils is neat. Located near a convenience store right outside. Definitely go to the rooftop for the view and if with friends, play at the pool table. Site itself is located with an archeology dig so it's really interesting. Amazing concept, seating areas are wide , spacious and clean.

Karl (which my group mistakenly thought was Kyle/Kail/Kale) at the pop-up rooftop bar was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable of the area, went above and beyond for customer service, and is a great addition to the this hostel and the Sydney area. Made the trip more personable and made us feel welcome in a country we hadn't visited before!

looking for a city centre vibe? you’ll
get something even better, walk around the harbour and it will be appealing in day light and night-“lights” too. search for “the rocks” on google map and go for the walk that will hype up your mood. view the sydney Oprah house or walk towards it, and don’t forget to take a boat trip which is also a public transport in sydney. how about saving on a cruise ticket ;)

The best hostel in Sydney in my opinion. There is plenty of space in the kitchen and enough tables for dining. The kitchen also offers huge space to store stuff, even in the fridge der is enough space for everyone. The wifi is incredibly fast, never had such good wifi anywhere before except at home.

The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The huge space between reception, dining space and kitchen never seemed to be crowded.

The rooms were clean, the 4 bed dorm had a own bathroom. Your comfort within the room depends on your fellows in the room.

Would totally recommend and always come
Back.

Rooms very basic but clean. Common spaces large and plenty of people to meet. Great location, although up a large hill from the train station. Absolute win, would stay again.

I loved this place! It was the first hostel my mom had ever experienced and she loved it. It was clean, spacious, and had a very nice common space. Most importantly, the staff was extremely great! UT from Thailand and Tomas from Chile specially stick out to me. They made the hostel feel like home. Both of them were very friendly and I felt like they cared about us deeply. I'd also like to note it made me happy to see a diverse team. Since my mom only speaks Spanish, it was nice to have Tomas to connect with. He was like having a piece of home at the hostel. His vibrant personality and welcoming latin energy was exactly what we needed. It was nice to feel like we had a safe and caring place to call home while on vacation. I'm grateful to have found this hostel. Our first time in Australia was a good one:)

If you're looking for 5 star accommodation when travelling to Sydney on a budget, look no further than the Youth Hostel Accommodation on The Rocks. The rooftop floor has excellent viewpoints of Sydney Harbour with both Opera House and Harbour Bridge and it's easier to understand why There's No Place in the world like Sydney.

the YHA is a very nice and modern hostel. the rooms beds and bathrooms are clean and in good condition. the lobby is very large and offers plenty of space. the kitchens are clean and well equipped. The rooftop deck offers great views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera, the city and the Sydney Harbor Bridge. the hostel is very centrally located and only a few minutes walk from Circular Quay station. You can be at the opera or in the city very quickly. The staff is very friendly. When I wanted to change rooms it wasn't a problem, I spoke to Tomas and he made everything possible. I've been there four times in the last six months. and will go again when in Sydney. it is a quiet hostel which is very good if you travel for business. the private rooms have a beautiful view of the opera and sydney.

A nice YHA to stay in when traveling. The location is excellent for sightseeing with a short walk to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and Botanic Gardens. The hostel is not overly sociable but they do offer events (for a small fee) which you can opt to join such as rooftop yoga classes and BBQ. I opted for a female only dorm and it felt really clean in my room and quiet.

Had the most amazing experience at the YHA Sydney Harbour.
Booked a shared females EnSite room. However, on the day, one of the friendly receptionists said that all the rooms are fully occupied. But he offered me a private room instead. The room was just like five-star hotel room. Very comfortable bed, coffee/working desk, and amazing hot water.
Also, the entire establishment is quite exceptional for hostile standard. The kitchen and the lounge area were always clean. Five-star view of the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Also five-star customer service from The Rocks’s staff. I would highly recommend this hostel when visiting Sydney.

I hate hostels, but this hostel set the standard for me in Australia. After going here all the other hostels felt terrible. Nice place for a rooftop swim
