The level of service from Thomas Farms butcher was outstanding. Joe took the time to show me how to tie up the chickens for a rotisserie. He also gave me lots of tips and tricks. Thank you Joe!

Bought marinated chicken for easter lunch. Taste was fine, but the meat was so full of water we had to drain the oven tray 4 times. Impossible to brown or crisp the meat when its swimming in puddles.

Been here on and off for years.
Unfortunately had too many bad experiences.
Diced steak being sinewy.
Quality mince being overly fatty.

Why did the Ford Pinto catch on fire? (Google it) or just read on...

At approximately 14 / 11 /2021, 1:47 PM during a disability mentoring session a young child aged 12 was verbally abused by the older lady, shop keeper at this time. In front of other patrons… This conduct is only a reflection on the individual and lack of customer care as well as lack of understanding of how to treat different types of people.

The young person was waiting at the counter for their order that the male shopkeeper (who was very polite) was grabbing and was asked to move away from the single EFTPOS terminal being used for many of the waiting customers (Asked by the older female working). The young person did this and stepped to the side while waiting for the male shopkeeper to return with the order. While waiting, the young person, who had moved far enough from the terminal and had followed the previous instructions of moving out of the way. Thus, sidestepped out of the way. The older female shopkeeper then verbally abused and scolded the young person in front of myself at which point I had to speak up.

With several people around watching what was happening, nobody had the courage to say anything. It was brilliant that I was able to see the bystander effect in full force today and a valuable lesson on humanity was given. That not all people are treated equally or included, and people often judge others by the way that they appear and that invisible disabilities are not always respected even acknowledged.

However, it is an absolute disgrace that this occurred while this young person was following the correct procedures and using his manners while collecting the order as requested by family members. To then be treated in such a way that prevents the young person with disabilities from developing confidence and independence by experiencing trauma from somebody who is much older and should be intelligent enough to not use threatening tones or demeaning language.

Upon continuing to be verbally abusive the shopkeeper seemed disinterested in apologizing and was continuing to be rude and even made a young person cry through the experience after yelling and pushing the order across the glass out of the hands of the male shopkeeper. Most likely as a reaction to my intervention, as I dont allow people to be bullied. Smart words were used by myself and this only seemed to upset the shopkeeper who seemed perplexed by what I had stated.

The correct amount of money was not able to be paid, and no receipt was afforded at the time to be collected as it was important to remove the young person from this situation as quickly as possible for safety and health reasons.

Arguably this is why this review is a 1-star review because of the severity in lacking customer service and traumatic experience that was afforded to a young person aged 12.

I can only hope that this older female shopkeeper working at approximately 1:47PM 14 / 11 /2021 is not the person who owns this butchery and that this conduct towards others does not continue for the sake of maintaining a good business during a turbulent time.

To be honest business must be damn good to be able to treat people like they are dead meat and to continue trading…

This is what I witnessed, and this was my subjective experience, and this statement has been supported by the young person. I personally will not use any Springfield butchers again… I will also continue to tell this story.

Nobody deserves to be treated unfairly or made to feel unsafe or must suffer traumatic memories as a result of poor and inappropriate conduct.
