Wagners; the only accommodation I’ve ever rated 5 stars.

I stayed in the Studio Cottage, the arrival experience was incredibly easy and the studio immaculate.

The freshly baked loaf of bread, fresh eggs, milk and yoghurt provided upon arrival are a touch that will not be forgotten. Eggs on toast with a coffee as the sun came up in the garden was an absolutely gorgeous way to start my morning.

Belinda, the owner, was lovely and made my short stay a memorable one, and exactly what I needed for my first night in Tassie after several months of non-stop work and other commitments. I will certainly be back, for several nights.

Hats off, truly.

Amazing accommodation and a beautiful historic property. The host will even bake you a loaf of bread when you arrive to have with her chickens fresh eggs in the morning. Such great value. Everything has been thought of for you.

Gorgeous, quaint looking cottages at a very convenient location close to Wineglass bay. Proximity to restaurants and town as well. Belinda was an extremely helpful host and the service was lovely.

Great selection of breakfast items, private gardens for guests, great amenities. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

you can tell the hosts genuinely care about your experience, its evident from the little touches - fresh flowers everywhere, Mor products in the bathrooms, quality bedding. such a gorgeous taste of the tasmanian life with home made bread and eggs from their own chickens! location is excellent for those wanting to go north to bicheno or south to hobart. we spent a very pleasant evening wandering among the gardens, and then finished it off sipping port in our private garden, gorgeous!

My sister and I recently stayed in Hollyhock cottage for two nights and wish we could have stayed longer. We arrived to the smell of freshly baked bread tempting us including butter in the fridge! Nothing has been forgotten in this beautiful place loads of towels luxurious beds full kitchen with yoghurt and fresh eggs supplied. On returning from a visit to Coles bay we were treated to fresh baked scones jam and cream. Our own private garden where we could sit and observe all the pretty birds with the supplied binoculars and bird guide book. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Absolutely faultless! The gardens are simply stunning and immaculately maintained, providing a serene and private atmosphere. Every corner of the place is adorned with delightful details that just make you smile. Inside, we were treated to the delightful surprise of fresh eggs and warm, freshly baked bread, which added such a lovely touch to our stay. This charming getaway is undoubtedly a perfect choice for couples seeking a romantic retreat.

Very rare for me to give a 5 star review.

We stayed in Hollyhock, the 2 bedroom option. Everything about it was great. The attention to detail is next level. Little touches were everywhere, flowers from the beatiful gardens were in vases all over the cottage. The back verandah looking over the gardens and out to the water in the distance had nice chairs with warm, comfy blankets to throw over your knees as the evening cooled. There were games to play inside and out. Binoculars and a book on Tasmanian birds.

On arrival the cottage was warm and inviting, the lamps in the bedrooms were on and welcomed us in. The fireplace was prepared and a single match was all that was needed to get a roaring fire going.

A bowl full of beautiful home laid eggs, a fresh loaf of home baked bread and some warm scones with cream and jam were all waiting for us in the neat, very well equipped kitchen.

A stroll around the gardens with a glass of bubbles in the afternoon is well worth doing. So many little touches and treasures.

The cottage was so nice we elected not to go out for dinner, we'd preferred to enjoy the cottage as much as possible and cooked a hearty soup to eat in front of the fire.

Ended the evening with a few glasses of delightful fortified wine from a beautiful crystal decanter.

Three of us stayed, my 16 year old daughter declared she never wanted to leave.

What a lovely cottage stay. Freshest of eggs on home made bread yum. Oh! And a spa bath complete with non breakable champagne glasses. Classy.

Beautiful set of old sandstone cottages. Very well kept, very comfortable bed, ready to go fire place, and in such a beautiful part of the world.

Belinda was amazingly helpful, and went out of her way to make sure our stay was really good. I can't rate these guys highly enough.

If you are heading for the east coast of Tassie, do your self a favour and stay at this gorgeous property. We stayed in Wagners Cottage because we really wanted to experience the original cottage and it did not disappoint. It's all the little details that made this stay so amazing. We didn't need to check in at reception, just wander up to our cottage so we felt very at home. There was fresh baked bread and fresh farm eggs waiting for us. The fireplace was set perfectly so we could just light the fire with zero fussing. The decanter of Muscat and choccies in the lounge was perfect for a late evening tipple. The robes and slipper and plastic wine glasses for the spa bath were perfect touches. This really is the ideal place for a wonderfully romantic weekend away. We will be back!

Thank you so much for a beautiful stay. We absolutely loved the cottage and location. Very warm, relaxing and cosy (super comfy beds). Really appreciated all the extra touches you provided. Such a beautiful garden to sit in and watch all the birds while we had a coffee in morning / wine in afternoon. We will have very fond memories of our stay at Wagners and will definitely be recommending to others visiting the area.

This might be the best experience I've ever had. We booked this stay as a nostalgic stop because my partner has started here when she was very young and I'm so glad we did

The accommodation:

I didn't know what to expect but once we arrived I knew it was cute. One we open the door to the cottage I was stunned, if not instantly transported back in time. This lovely little cottage was decorated so thoroughly and such careful detail that we could not help but exist, in our minds, in the real late 19th century.

With cozy lounge to sit in quiet conversation, reading books with a drink by the fireplace, pacing the immaculately maintained garden or playing guitar in the courtyard. We couldn't help but live the way the cottage suggested.

The service:

The service was so above and beyond that at times I didn't feel deserving of it. Not a single corner was cut. From the fresh aromatic flowers in every room to the fresh bread and eggs each time we returned from our daily excursions. The detail and care in just the service alone would have made this a special visit. Thank you so much for treating us with such tremendous hospitality.

Uncategorised musings:

I'm conflicted whether I selfishly keep this place a secret or tell everyone I know that their life will never be complete if they don't stay here. I didn't know you could fall in love with a place until I stayed here.

Wagner’s Cottages are a cluster of immaculate stone buildings surrounded by private gardens on the edge of Swansea, (East Coast Tasmania) For three years in a row now we have booked our favourite Primrose Cottage and delight in the time spent as guests of the very attentive owner/hostess Belinda.

All the little details are part of a wonderful experience - tranquil setting, fresh sourdough bread as part of generous breakfast provisions, vases of roses, treats like chocolates and port ready by a prepared fireplace, stunning shower and spa bath. Comfort and luxury combine to wrap you like a big warm hug. So much better than an anonymous hotel and Belinda is a font of knowledge about local attractions and recommendations for further afield. And there’s Netflix and WiFi for any idle moments. We’ve already made our next reservation and can’t wait to return for another indulgent and relaxing escape.

Had a delightful stay at Wagners, our group of 8 across 3 cottages were so sorry we were only staying 1 night. From the fresh eggs and bread, the fresh roses in the rooms, the beautiful decor in each cottage and the gorgeous gardens. Belinda is a wonderful host, who provided us with dining advice not just at Swansea but for many of our stops around Tassie - all were spot on and we enjoyed our stop at Ironhouse Brewery/distillery. Thanks Belinda for your hospitality

Stayed at Wagners cottage, the best choice place to stay for my partners birthday night. She could not stop talking about all the nice touches, fresh flowers, baked bread, fireplace ready to light. It's a beautiful homestead with real soul and comforts. Truly felt warm and welcome. Thankyou Belinda

Small cottages for rent within a dry stone walled estate. Superbly appointed with the highest quality inclusions. The owners are unobtrusive to the point of being almost invisible. Self catering, it is highly recommended as an escape from city living. Beautifully maintained private gardens with garden furniture and abundant wildlife including a bunny.

Our daughter and her partner considered eloping but decided to have a small wedding with immediate family and celebrate the day with a weekend of good company, good accommodation, good food and good wine. Having stayed at Wagners Cottages in 2015 they decided this was the perfect place.

The ceremony was held in the gardens in front of Primrose Cottage and the photographs taken throughout the premises. Lisa (staff member) arranged a box of flowers for the bridal couple’s cottage which was too beautiful to be hidden in a cottage and was moved to the signing table. Thank you Lisa!

Over the course of the weekend lunches were spent in nearby wineries and dinners enjoyed beneath the stars in the courtyard of Wagners cottage.

Belinda & Kerry were brilliant from providing local knowledge, helping with the music and toast during the ceremony to sprucing up the cottages and replenishing supplies. Little surprises could be found in small places (see attached photo). It was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

All eight people in attendance spoke highly of the property. We recommend Wagners Cottages for it is a great place to relax, smell the flowers and drink in the countryside in comfort.

Thank you for the great memories.

I honestly cannot speak highly enough of Wagners Cottages. We stayed in Hollyhock and it was delightful, even in the middle of winter. It had everything we needed and then more. Perfect for a couple, or a couple of couples. Belinda made our stay complete. So glad we stayed here. ❤
