We had an amazing experience here! The room was gorgeous and comfortable. The hosts are great. They helped us choose a great outing to Maria Island which ended up being the highlight of our trip to Tasmania. The breakfast is incredible. Some of the best food we had in our entire trip, especially the cinnamon rolls. Also appreciated we could take pastries with us on our hikes. We also appreciated the recommendations for dinner as sometimes Google can be unreliable . We loved the adorable dogs too. I highly recommend if staying in Swansea or wanting to check out Frecinyet area.

What a find! Last minute really but so happy we found it. Absolutely everything we needed was in the super comfortable and spacious room, and they even gave me lactose free milk and honey for my tea in the morning. The breakfast was amazing complete with a doggy bag of pastries and muffins for our trip. Thank you for having us. Highly recommend.

Can honestly say this was the best stay in Tasmania, Noel was our host as his partner was away.We were greeted with a friendly warmth that involved talk about Yorkshire and Lancashire ( you need to be one to understand :) We felt at home, it was like visiting a long lost friend. The breakfasts as everyone says is awesome, enough to keep you fuelled for the rest of the day, I even turned down a crayfish feed later in the day I was still full. Little touches like Yorkshire Gold tea, Port in the room for those that don't snore and a warmth of feeling that will bring us back in the future. We wish Noels and his partner every success into the future for their beautiful home open to visitors well into the future.

Our room upstairs in the 1853 heritage house was cosy, comfortable, tidy and had everything we could want (plus a few extras we didn't expect, like the complimentary muffins and port). Our hosts were wonderful and the breakfast...amazing. I didn't imagine you could introduce so many courses into a breakfast. The breakfast is worth 5 stars alone. Thank you

Comfortable, affordable, friendly, the chef made breakfast was top quality and included in the price!

Remember this isn't an Ikea catalogue, it's a historic homestead.

Beautiful views from our room of the Bay. Couldn't have asked for a better place. 6 stars actually!

Currently closed due to a fire, but honestly, I would give 6 stars across the board if it was available as an option. Wishing the wonderful couple who are impeccable hosts and their two wee dogs all the best for the future.

An absolute find - more than just a place to stay. Meredith House is an experience in itself. From the moment you enter, Neal and Noel greet you with a warmth and nostalgia that make you feel like old friends reuniting.
We were also fortunate enough to meet their gorgeous westie terriers Lulu and Dougall, which add a homely and familiar feeling to the house.

Comfortable, clean and cosy conjoined studios form the ‘Mews’. A fully equipped kitchen awaits complete with dishwasher, fridge and glasses for any occasion.
The bathroom boasts a clean and welcoming traditional spa - with complimentary bath salts and other bath/shower products to enjoy.

They’ve thought of everything from tea light candles with matches to a pedestal fan, an absolute must for us when staying anywhere!

Top off the evening with a glass of port on the private deck overlooking an English style fairy garden, with bbq facilities for those warmer afternoons.

With a comfortable bed to lay and rest after a walk around the sleepy town, Meredith House has a familiar and kind feeling.
I’d read other reviews about the breakfast available and they weren’t overestimating - Neal and Noel have worked hard for almost twenty years to perfect a menu of satisfying pastries, muffins, and a smorgasbord of traditional and continental breakfast items.
Each tasty morsel has been baked by them in their kitchen - I loved the touch of the ‘doggy bag’ at the end to take away the yummy treats to enjoy throughout the day.

The pictures on the website and other booking sites simply do not do this place justice - if you are lucky enough to stay here you will appreciate the understated yet tasteful space these two folk have created, down to the last detail.

We will definitely be back, and a shout out to the exceptional ‘mushroom gravy’ I enjoyed this morning - never had anything like it before!

Amaaazzzinggg stay at this cute B&B! My partner and I had an Airbnb disaster nearby, and luckily there was a room available for our time around Frecyinet. Noel and Neal were extremely hospitable, and run such neat, tidy and homely accommodation. Morning breakfast was such a nice touch that we really enjoyed. Highly recommend if you're visiting in the area, thanks for the great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Meredith House for two nights. Loved the colonial style decor - full of character. We stayed at the self contained studio which comes with everything you need - shower, bath, heater, air-conditioning, kitchen, dining table, a verandah with access to the back yard, parking spot. The room is clean and very spacious too. Location is perfect - right in the center of Swansea, only a short 45min drive to Coles Bay and 1.5hr drive to Launceston. Neal and Noel are great hosts, we got some great recommendations on restaurants and tips on where to go and what to see from them. Bonus point from the two other hosts - Lulu and Dougal (the two westies on site) who are just adorable! Will definitely stay there again for our next visit!!

Wonderful experience
This traditional Bed and Breakfast had everything you hope for in a BnB. Friendly and knowledgeable staff to welcome you with lots of advice and local tips.
The breakfast was sensational and the hosts catered for Gluten free with an individual serve of bread, donut, muffins and porridge. Plenty of variety beautifully presented and even the offer of a doggy bag ( so you don't feel guilty sneaking out a muffin in a napkin!)

Will definitely be back.

One of the best accomodation on the east coast Tasmania. The breakfast was amazing, lots of choices, even have home-made almond yoghurt and almond milk. They even offer us some breads for takeaway on the road. Thanks for the generosity. The room were extremely clean and well thought in every details. The garden is so nice and I want to go back one day for a peaceful afternoon.

Returned for a second visit as had such an amazing time 6 years ago and wanted to show my Mum over from the UK how amazing it is. Neil and Noël have gone above and beyond to equip the room with everything you could possibly need. They provide complimentary port and chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate, as well as tea and coffee.

Breakfast is outstanding- a wonderful spread of fruits poached in spirits, homemade baked porridge and freshly baked bread. Then a full English breakfast along with a wide selection of fruit juices and jams. The finale is croissants and baked donuts plus freshly baked muffins which they give you to take on your journey!

This is the best b&b ever and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Love this place... the guys running it are fabulous. The rooms are very comfortable. And the breakfast- well I've stayed in many places over time and their breakfast is the best I've ever had in my life. Baked ricotta. Porridge pudding. Chia. Baked fruit. And the main poached eggs and other cooked to order selections are to die for. Can't wait to go back.

Beautiful house with service that went above and beyond. Homely feel and lovely people. The breakfast was amazing, made on site and the selection was beyond what you can ask for. The little touches within the room make it a great place to stay and make you feel at home. The place has a historic charm and we loved the addition of Dougal and Lulu. Thank you!

Neal is the host with the most, he gave us a true northern (English) welcoming and was so accommodating, together with his Australian partner. From the welcome muffins on arrival to the tips for the local area and our travel plans, it felt like he was welcoming us into his home. Then for the breakfast, wow, what can I say. Probably the best breakfast I’ve had anywhere in any hotel and I travel a lot. The huge selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, fruit juices and wonderfully cooked breakfast, even inviting us to take the individually freshly made pastries with us for later. You couldn’t ask for more. What made this even more special was all the little things that Neal went out his way for - bringing HP sauce to the table for the cooked breakfast (because nothing else compares) and bringing us a bag of Yorkshire tea to take on the rest of our travels. What a gent.

Do not think twice about booking this place, nothing will compare.

The breakfast was unexpectedly the best ever! You will be pushed to find better service, breakfast and accommodation in Tasmania let alone the east coast!

I am back in Swansea and forgot to do a review. First review I have ever done in fact. Had to do one though to let you all know that a stay at Meredith House is a must. A wonderful experience, and about the best breakfast we have ever had. I come from a family of 4 chefs and breakfast is always a big thing so ...sorry Mum... think it eclipsed all of ours. Noel and Neil are consummate hosts... thank you both so much. Ainstie and Luke. We will see you again!

We received the heartiest welcome from Noel and the two West Highland Terriers, Lulu and Dougal and that set the scene for the rest of the stay. Amazing ambience, beautifully comfortable bed and the most incredible breakfast. Thank you Neal and Noel, this stay was one of the highlights of our Tassie trip.
