The Bed and Breakfast was just great! The beautiful building felt really warm and welcoming. We had such a nice time there, that is especially because the house owners were super friendly and just made the best breakfast which was freshly cooked. My highlight was the smell of cinnamon granola in the evening when we arrived. Something really special!

Loved the house, the decor, ambience, comfortable rooms. Every detail was thoughtful. The afternoon tea was
delicious. Cooked short bread and real leaf tea. Breakfast was also delicious, home made bread, baked oats, yogurt, home made spiced apples and honey. Cooked breakfast was exactly the way I like it. Highly recommend! Host was lovely.

Cameron and Judie have been the perfect hosts in both venue and food. Home made is the keyword for most items you’ll eat or drink, and if not home made, then as local as it can be. Great tips for the area too! I want more of those breakfasts!!! And yes the rooms as well as common living area were spot on, oozing old world charm. Thanks again!

Stayed for two nights and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The bedroom was elegantly laid out, along with a couple of lounge rooms, which we used a lot as it rained both days we were there. The hosts, Cameron and Jodie, were very helpful. Will definitely come again.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying with Cameron and Jodie at Schouten House. Upon entering the lovely 1840s house you are greeted by a beautiful front door that, although requiring a slight duck to get under for the tall, warrants a second look. Inside, the accommodation is tasteful and welcoming, as were the hosts.

The individual rooms with self-contained ensuites were delightful, with extensive, comfortable beds full of character throughout. Every requirement and whim was catered for, including recommendations for our stay on the Freycinet and East coast. Local knowledge was priceless and substantially improved our enjoyment of our daily activities.

After a long day exploring, eating and drinking it was a pleasant feeling to return to such a welcoming home and hosts. An extended chat in the reading room before an early night was in order, with the promise of a breakfast to remember the next morning.

Breakfast. Well, Schouten house could do a trade in cooked breakfasts alone. The bread was freshly cooked the night before on site and to die for. Coupled with eggs, bacon and all the sides, we could of stayed and ate all day (although if you would like pancakes, they need to be ordered the night before). Unfortunately we had to leave, and we were saddened to do so. At the price paid for such fine accommodation and service, both my wife and I felt guilty. Our next stay on our "lap" of Tasmania paled in comparison to Schouten House, and we spent our time in St Helens regretting our inflexible schedule. If you do find yourself in or around Swansea, I cannot recommend Schouten House highly enough for an enjoyable, welcoming and memorable stay.

Amazing. We stayed here a while ago and loved the whole thing. Rooms were very clean and I loved the old fashioned decor. The food was so fresh and yum and the staff were so friendly. We have come back to Tassie and few times and tired to stay again but it’s always booked out as it’s sooooo lovely.

Everything we hoped for. Elegant, cosy and the breakfast was excellent. The list of complimentary items was impressive : tea and shortbread, port and sherry... etc. Are coming back in winter for the open fireplace.

A beautiful, quaint and quiet venue that is away from the highway. The hosts were both lovely and welcoming.

Shouten House is delightful. The interior blends modern and old seemlessly. Please look at the blue carpet in the hall and on the stairs. The guest lounge is spacious and warm. The antique looking cd player in the corner shows off the modern/old look. Bedrooms are small but comfortable. We stayed in Room 2 on the second floor with great views east over to Freycinet Peninsula. Close enough to the beach that you can hear the waves but far enough not to keep you up all night. Breakfast is included, pancakes are very special. The owners clearly love their business going to great lengths to provide tasty nourishing food with plenty of advice on what to do and where to go. Easy drives to Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park and also Bicheno.
