Kai Port Douglas

Nothing bad to say about this place, it was our last night in Aus before we have to travel back to the UK. We definitely saved the best till last.
Staff, food, service, everything was great.
Compliments to the chefs.

First meal nowhere near Macrossin Street, Kai is situated 10 minutes out of town. It is still casual dining but the menu is a little more varied than we have seen else where. We ordered the Coral Trout Cevice, flat bread with burrata to start which were both very nice. Our mains included fish and chips, lip mussels in a spicy tomato broth, pan fried Coral Trout fillet in a delicious sauce. And amazing onion rings for the kids. We finished with homemade tiramisu their only dessert.
The place is busy, everyone looked happy with their orders especially the lady on the table next to us who was served a mountain of baby back ribs which her whole family helped her eat.
The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We would definitely eat here again

TBH, I saw the Post Douglas Magazine and just stayed close by , so deciding to come and try.

I like scrambled egg, so the miso scrambled egg will be my first choice ~

For the dish,, the egg and the toast part was fabulous, I just can’t eat the kimchi… it’s way too sour to me… if you could chop pans mixing with egg, and put more Korean chilli powder with the kimchi… I think that would be much better ! But general the miso scrambled was good 👍

I ordered iced mocha, I couldn’t finish it … maybe recently when I ordered iced mocha … what I got were made with vanilla ice cream instead of put ice-cube … so it was under my expectation … however … I think I shouldn’t take that ice cream thing on granted either as the chocolate drizzled on the side of cup as well 😂😂😂😂
Kombucha was nice 😊 by the way ~ 😍😍😍

Lovely place at the south end of Port Douglas. Staff were attentive and we ordered the octopus for me and the duck liver pâté for entré and the 24hr slow cook brisket and lamb shoulder desert was a crime brûlée. All were nicely presented and very tasty indeed.

Regular visitor to Port Douglas and just learnt about Kai from the hotel we are staying at. Great local choice away from the bustle of the main st. Staff were lovely, breakfast was delicious. We'll be back to try dinner now we know about Kai.

Easy to reserve a table, friendly staff, absolutely scrumptious food! Best brisket dish in my life!!!
A little out of the way but well worth the drive. There's also a sports bar right next door if you want a little bit more excitement or just want to meet up with friends before or after dinner

I don't normally do reviews but this Cafe / Restaurant is absolutely amazing we went for dinner and breakfast and couldn't fault a thing, I'm from Melbourne and the food and coffee is fantastic. 10 out of 10

Had dinner with the family here and was amazed by the serving sizes for the price.
Fantastic value. Staff are friendly and helpful. Casual dining environment. I felt overdressed but we had a great night. Definitely recommend ❤

Had never been before but it was the best! The dinner was excellent, the coffees were also great. 5 minute walk from Sea Temple Port Douglas.

We made a late last minute booking for a table of 5 and slipped in around 8, bearing in mind kitchen closing at 8.30...we were promptly seated and had our order taken within minutes.
Drinks arrived, then entree, doubled up on at the waitresses recommendation...brilliant!
We ordered specials and regular menu items and were not disappointed. Wonderful flavours, attentive and friendly international staff made certain we were well looked after and not rushed close to closing time.
We really enjoyed this experience with family.

Coral trout (catch of the day) was delicious. My friend ordered the mussels which were super fresh.

The servers were helpful serving our party of 8 even as the restaurant was buzzing on a random weekday night.

Best meal we’ve had in Port Douglas! Got the calamari Entree and the Braised beef Brisket .. Delicious!! It just fell apart, so flavourful. Very reasonably priced, and really great atmosphere. Definetly recommend, it’s a must do to try that brisket! Staff were lovely.

A casual/family/pub style restaurant but with top quality food. It was also great to be able to get the option of salad and roast vegetables instead of fried chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals, mussels, beef brisket, parma and the wagyu rump special. We've tried all the restaurants in the main strip and this would be the best family restaurant to take the kids.

Food was so good! We tried seafood options and all were delicious

The food was delicious, and the staff very friendly and attentive. We have the civche, haloumi fries, yellow curry and mussel dish. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Portions were the perfect size.

The one very minor downside of the restaurant is that the interior could have a lot more atmosphere and cosy decorating.

We brought our own fish to the chef at the suggestion of our fishing charter operator. I can tell you, for three seasoned fisherman we were astounded at what was served. Fish 6 ways, without a doubt the best we have ever eaten. Absolutely astonishing value and great service. Make sure you visit when you are in Port Douglas.

We had a lovely experience at Kai. The fish and the beef checks were 10/10. We lived it so much we sent back for breakfast the next day

We are staying at Silkari Lagoons and were recommended this restaurant by reception. Excellent place. Very tasty food with clever flavour fusions from around the world. Service was very friendly and prompt. We ended up inside which was nice but suggest booking as the outside area looked great.

Been staying down the road and getting my coffee here every morning !
We also had dinner and it was great :)
I got the spicy ribs and my partner got the fish n chips.
The house made Tartare is soooo amazing. I always judge a place on its tartare haha.

Exceptionally good food and service.
Recommended by the skipper of my fishing charter and off the beaten track but 100% worth the trek here.
Really good food, nothing too fancy but clearly very well done, presented well and tremendous value.
Highly recommended.
Service impressive, staff just knew how to make the dining experience smooth and plenty of really good menu options.
We went on steak night Fridays $10 can't be beaten.
My only criticism could be no desert menu which after really enjoying entrees and mains I'd have loved to sweeten the deal.
Locals love the place and tourists will be spoilt finding it.
