Mad Monkey Backpackers Village

I had an incredible stay at this hostel !
The location is simply perfect, close to everything you might need. The kitchen is a real asset, very well-equipped with even an oven ! Plus, they offer a delicious breakfast that adds to the experience 🥞. The pool with its hammock creates a very relaxing tropical atmosphere. Additionally, the rooms are very nice and comfortable 👌
But what really makes this place special is the convivial atmosphere between guests and the staff : always there to help with a smile, which makes the experience even more enjoyable !

I highly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a memorable stay 🌴

Absolutely loved staying at this hostel! Has everything you need. Great to socialise and be able to relax and read a book out by the pool also. It has a TV room!!!!! And plenty of board games to play in the common area. Many social events down in Central (5 min walk). Staff are friendly and always helpful when I had an issue. Felt very comfortable in this hostel.

This hostel has been one of the best I’ve stayed in so far! A free breakfast every morning is served from 7-10 with multiple options available including vegan spreads for toast. The social areas of the hostel are nice and shaded and the pool area is great for laying out and taking in the sun. The rooms are really modern and are cleaned every day by the wonderful volunteers and staff and the beds even have a partial privacy screen which is hard to come by in Australian hostels. For everything offered this hostel is incredibly affordable and exceeded my expectations completely. I will definitely be visiting again!!!

Best hostel I have ever stayed at! Location was amazing. Cute coffee shops around and not a bad walk from the main shopping Center. I particularly enjoyed the free breakfast which is always made to a high standard and the cleanliness of the hostel itself. The housekeeping staff are very happy and make sure the rooms are comfortable and ready for you to enjoy. The rooms are hoovered and cleaned daily. Something that stood out to me during my stay was the bubbly staff members behind reception, who welcomed me so warmly.

I absolutely loved the facilities like the pool and the kitchen. It’s very spacious and has a lot of cooking utensils. I have never stayed in a hostel with an air fryer. Especially the tv room which has so many choices of things to watch. Channel apps like Stan, Disney +, Netflix and so much more. But one thing that stands out to make it such a happy place to stay is the music played in the communal area. Such a good place to make fun of yourself dancing in the kitchen. This creates such a friendly atmosphere worth seeing.

I absolutely loved Mad Monkey Village and will definitely be back in the future if my trip brings me to Cairns!

Comfy beds, clean rooms, new friends, delicious pancakes- these are all the things I experienced at Mad Monkey so I couldn’t recommend it more. The staff are really helpful and there is someone at reception until 4 so it felt very safe and I always felt like I could come to them about any queries or questions about the hostel or Cairns in general. Also it is located really close to the sport area of the esplanade so beach volleyball, football, basketball, climbing and tennis are all just a 5 minute walk away. 10/10 would stay again :D

This hostel was amazing! During my stay I felt super comfortable in the clean and high quality rooms that were fitted with their own personal sinks which made our lives so much easier, the individual beds were also private and cosy. I was welcome each morning with a delicious breakfast selection and even fresh pancakes that were truly incredible and such an unusual treat for a hostel to provide. The common areas were also clean and spacious which made socialising much easier, this includes a well equipped tv room which had all the apps you could hope for as well as an xbox which was perfect for the rainy days. I loved the kitchen as it had ovens as well as air fryers which you don’t often see in many hostels therefore made cooking easy especially during the busier times of the day.
Overall, I really loved my stay here and was
one of the best hostels i have experienced. I would definitely come back if i ever
find myself back in Cairns.

The vibes of this hostel are immaculate. The staff is really nice and the rooms are really clean. It was a decent size pool for the very hot days. Everyday theres is something going on. They offer free breakfast everyday and monday bbq night. I highly recommend it 🫶🏼

Great hostel with an amazing atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and always willing to help with any situations that might arise. The rooms are cleaned daily and have great comfy and big enough beds (I’m 2 meters and fit perfectly 😁).
There’s a complimentary breakfast every morning with freshly made pancakes, which is an amazing initiative from the hostel!
Overall I’ve had an amazing experience at Mad Monkey Village and can recommend it to any travelers passing through Cairns.

Staying at Mad Monkey Village was a great experience. Walking through the front door I was immediately greeted by the friendly and helpful staff. They provided a safe storage luggage area before I properly checked in which requires a code to access. My room which was clean and Air Condition was a nice escape from the heat. The bed was very comfy and the rooms are fitted with a sink which was convenient. The showers and toilets were clean and hygienic and I saw the staff cleaning it multiple times a day. The kitchen provides a big open area which even when it was busy I still had plenty of room to prepare food. The hostel also has ovens which I’ve rarely seen in my travels and air fryers which was a nice addition. I found the common areas inviting and a great place to socialise and chill, my personal favourite was the Tv room It had a comfy seats and blankets, the Tv has multiple streaming services and a Xbox. In the morning I was treated by some lovely pancakes cooked freshly by the Staff, I had the option for bread, cereal, milk, juice and various condiments so it was safe to say there was plenty to choose from.

I absolutely loved my stay here. The facilities and extras offered by this hostel were just amazing from the free BBQ and daily breakfast to the pool and other common areas I couldn't fault the hostel. It was always clean and being cleaned regularly throughout the day from early morning to late in the evening the staff work extremely hard to maintain the high standards of the hostel. As for the reception staff they couldn't have been more helpful. My dorm was a 8 bed dorm and it was cleaned daily which was much appreciated the only complaint I have about my stay here was that I didn't want to leave.

I recently stayed at mad monkey village and it was amazing. The staff and the vibe there was so chill. Not to mention the free breakfast we all get in the morning. They do pancakes with spreads, lots of cereal and toast. The outside area was very chilled. We all just sat around the pool all day, the palm trees over the pool make it feel so tropical. Met so many friends at the hostel, everyone was very nice. I liked the fact the hostel was next to a foodary so I could grab something whenever I wanted instead of having to walk all the way to the shops. Loved it 10/10!

Clean, fully equipped hostel in a great location close to the shops and the esplanade! I really liked the funny and respectful atmosphere here as the staff and guests make you feel welcome from the beginning. My favourite was the free breakfast every morning and the pool :)

Clean rooms, friendly staff and the other guests in the hostel were all very nice too. There is a free breakfast and free access to a gym, which was very good. It is also really social and easy to get to know people.

Amazing hostel, clean rooms and showers, friendly staff and lots of free activities. Excellent value for money. Only small criticism would be that there are only two sinks in the kitchen for a large number of guests and a few of the hob rings don't work - so you can find yourself queueing to cook/wash dishes at "rush hour".

I recently stayed at the Mad Monkey Village Hostel and it was a real delight in so many aspects. But the highlights of my stay included the free breakfast on offer, including delicious pancakes as well as toast and various cereals. In addition to this to burn off the aforementioned pancakes, they offer a free pass to the local gym which is only a short distance away. I also loved to relax by/in the spacious pool which is perfect after a long day out exploring the local area. Aside from these added bonuses the general aspects of the hostel including cleanliness as well as the attentiveness of staff were all exceptional. These all combined to make my stay very enjoyable! I would highly recommend this Hostel to any budding traveller.

Loved staying here! Everyone’s friendly, and the staff are kind and always around to help. The free BBQ on Mondays was awesome, and there’s a TV room to chill in when it gets too hot, not to mention the swimming pool! It’s also in a great location, with tonnes of tours available that you can book from the hostel. Would definitely stay again.

Free breakfast every morning till 10, only a short walk (10 mins) to the esplanade and shops and laundry facilities on site. Everything you could need. There's a large common area which is an awesome place to hang out and meet people or to chill.

This is the quieter Mad Monkey hostel so you can get a good night's sleep or hang in the common area for a few drinks or head down to central if you wanna party

Really nice hostel! The rooms are very clean and have an extra sink. The breakfast included tasty pancakes and a big variation of cereals. The staff was really friendly. I really enjoyed the pool area.
I would book this hostel again!
