Salt House

Having been to Salt House a few years ago and enjoying some very well made cocktails, I was in no hesitation returning on a recent trip to Cairns.

The drinks list is impressive and cocktails imaginative and expertly built.

AJ behind the bar suggested a Dusk cocktail, a near perfect libation of Ink Gin, Crème De Violette, butterscotch and lemon. Presented beautifully with floral enhancement, balanced with both acid and sweetness.

AJ when complimented on the cocktail pointed out that a lot of the cocktails’ ingredients were made ‘in house’ with vanilla being added to vodkas and pineapple roasted and added to liquors and many more genius flavours for these bespoke creations.

Take your time and enjoy a few marvellous drinks at this venue, which is itself beautiful with small seating areas separated by water, forming a very classy small maze to make your way through and enjoy your time here.

An amazing dinner and atmosphere. I’m so glad we chose this place. The vibe was lively, but not too crazy. They had live music and then a DJ took over. The food was delightful. I loved every dish. We got the pumpkin arancini, salmon miso skewers, steak and the fish main. It was a stretch, but we made room for dessert, which was worth it. We had gotten the banana sundae.

Great location and decor. Loved the deck seating with the water pools in-between. There was quite a big group of us and we all sat around a big table with benches. You order food at the bar and you get a buzzer. When it's ready, you collect it from the pass which is different but our buzzer didn't go off.
Really enjoyed my food, halloumi bao buns and I also had Barramundi wings, which I'd never tried before.
None of the group had any issues with their meals and we stayed for a number of drinks.
Would happily visit again.

Very cool spot at a great location. We grabbed a snack and drink here. Had the tuna sashimi and olives along with a Negroni and espresso martini. Drinks were perfect. The olives were tasty and the tuna was so damn good. The service was excellent.

Great place to dine with friends. Extensive menu, tasty food. Staff could have been more attentative considering it wasnt busy. Overall a nice venue with views.

Magical place. Beautiful setting. Chic restaurant with breezes blowing through the space which is on a point of land overlooking the marina. Charcoal roast chicken for two was exceptional - and immense: could have fed three or four. Excellent cocktails. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff. All around A+

Had a walk in experience for Dinner on Friday. Very good service, and got a great table with marina views. Menu slightly small, but we ordered steak and the daily special duck. Everything was cooked to perfection. Can’t really fault anything. Staff also very friendly!

We had a wonderful time at Salt House. Amazing, delicious food, great ambience and lovely servers. The desserts are incredible, we came back a second night just for them! Max and Jason went above and beyond for our group, and our love of Salt House’s nougat. Thank you! Next time we’re in Cairns we’ll be back!

Delicious menu, attentive staff and a great venue. Will come back to grab a bite to eat and maybe even have a listen to the live music sometime. Would recommend trying the menu and giving your taste buds a go.

Enjoyed a great meal without a booking on a busy evening. The sardine toast was absolutely amazing, but everything was good including the service. Decor and setting also really noteworthy. A stand out spot in Cairns.

Excellent cuisines and service! Salt house is the best Australian restaurant! We have had local fish roast, three oysters, local prawns and stakes. Those were memorial taste. If you want best dinner in cairns, you should go to Salt House!!!! I strongly recommend it!

We had two different experiences, both great. First, an evening with a DJ, where the vibrant ambiance and well-crafted drinks created a memorable night. On a separate occasion, we indulged in a dinner service with a breathtaking view of the harbor. While the prices were relatively high, the unique and picturesque setting, coupled with attentive staff, contributed to an overall exceptional dining experience.

Food was amazing! Had the scallops, prawns, eye fillet and oysters.
Only downfall was the oysters were tiny for 7 dollars each but were full of flavor so I’ll give them that.
Everything else was delicious! And our server and staff were amazing! Highly recommend this place :)

I booked Sslt House for my husband’s birthday and it did not disappoint…….was absolutely amazing! We had the seafood platter to share which was filled with so much variety and delicious flavours. Plenty of food but we got through it all, was so good! Cocktails were great we had four! Went for lunch but we will be back for dinner next time as the venue had plenty of ambience which I’d love to experience in the evening!

This place is amazing to take kids to for a meal! Toddler loved dancing to the live music and there was plenty of space for us to relax. The food was incredible, service amazing and it was the perfect venue for celebrating my birthday!

Outstanding. The Hot & Cold Seafood Deluxe Board blew us away, the restaurant and view was beautiful and the service was outstanding (thank you Antonio). Can’t recommend Salt House enough.

Enjoyed a very nice meal with my son, it was very quiet however the food and service were good.

What a great place to eat. Reasonable prices, great location and icy cold beer.

One of the best meals I had in Australia.
Tuna had too strong a vinegar taste for my liking. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the banana sundae was one of the best desserts ive ever had 😍
