Hunter Valley Smelly Cheese Shop

This venue knows it’s cheese and they provide an extensive variety. The store attracts many tourists so be prepared to have to deal with those whom have no clue what they want but will stand in front of you at the deli counter.
Other than cheese, the product range for food related to a picnic is extensive, no alcohol for sale though.

Every time I come to The Hunter, I make sure I visit the 'Smelly Cheese Shop'! All my favourite cheeses and crackers in one place :)

Great ice cream, cheese tasting $5/pp is okay, not perfect, but great to hang out with friends and family. Great location, there is Thai/Japanese restaurant next door. Great range of stuff like honey, cheese, candies in this shop to buy.

When we went there, we went for a quick visit, which is not the right thing to do. You need to give yourself some time, and you have to try all different types of cheese 🧀 😋. The options are endless, and everything tastes better than the other.
I really need to visit again and spend more time there to maximise the experience

This place has amazing flavours of cheese. Personal favourite is Shropshire or stinky bishop, tarwin blue and Ash rind brie!! The staff are excellent and well informed of the products. Their recommendations are true to taste. Definitely worth the stop and taste of their cheeses. Yumm! The quince and muscat paste is a winner!

Gelato and sorbet is amazing, vegan options for cheese and gelato.
They serve small meals here, I've never tried them, but they look good, as does the coffee.
I visit this place regularly and its always stocked, and staff are super friendly / helpfull.

Despite the name, it’s not as smelly as you would think! There is an excellent collection of cheeses and ice creams and other deli type items. It’s often crowded and they had a sign out the front saying they were moving to somewhere else in the hunter valley

Every time I am in the Hunter, I always visit this spot and stock up! Everything is great, and you could peruse inside the shop for a long time. Today we picked up chilli jam, a variety of cheese jams, truffle cheeses, truffle salami and even had a quick bite from their hot food section (we had the pluto pup, salami, cheese and pesto toastie and the loaded brisket chips). Love this place! Parking is plentiful, and even though we came on a weekend it wasnt too busy.

We were missing the Hunter, music, wine and cheese in lockdown…so ordered the ploughmans delivered to Sydney. Very happy it arrived so well packed, still chilled, and was a lovely escape from the monotony of lockdown. Cheese was as good as ever, love the pickled onions, and the bread was so fresh and crusty after popping it in the oven for the recommended few minutes. Thank you for our mini break in our own home! (oh and the board pictured is just a part of what came, there’s enough in there for a couple more nights 🧀 🥂)

Exactly what it sounds like. Has it's own walk-in cheese fridge. Sells small cheese boards to really large ones. Sells all sorts of cheeses; hard, soft, Smelly, blue, ash, aged etc. Staff has great knowledge. Located within Roche Estate.

Absolutely amazing cheese range with a huge walk in cheese cool room and lots of yummy jams, condiments, dressings, chocolates, lollies and more. Gorgeous wooden hand carved cheeseboards too. The highlight of this store is having the legendary 4 CHEESE TOASTIE. If you haven’t had one yet go there and do it. ASAP. It will change your life.

Nice shop with varieties of food: cheese, jams, etc, even icecream. Cheese tasting is worth if you do not familiar or want to know a bit more... The service is very good - our helper Billy is very patient with our questions and requests - Job well done! thank you!

Great burgers, I had a fabulous chicken schnitzel burger & it was freshly cooked & the salad was fresh & generous. They also have red meat & vegetarian options too. A shared side of hot chips went down an absolute treat too.

Amazing array of local cheeses, sauces and more. Really enjoyed having so many fantastic options, and having gelato with a view was perfect!

Everything is sooo good in this place. Favourite is sharing baked Camembert and hot dogs with 2 or 3 of my friends and combine it with the Tempus Two (Shiraz Rosé) wine from next door and sit on the grass to enjoy perfect snack/ brunch

Loved it! Had deep fried Camembert with baguette. Was plenty for two to share for lunch for around $15. Friendly staff. No formal seating just picnic bar tables outside with a buzzer to go pick up food when time. Would recommend for lunch and visit. Terrific variety of produce in shop too from cheese antipastos etc

Amazing deli shop located in the Hunter Valley. Really impressed with the range of vegan options available - good variety of vegan cheeses, crackers and spreads/dips available, and all clearly labelled as vegan.

The ice-counter here is also fantastic. We visited on a really hot day and really happy to find this place, and discover all their sorbets (12+ flavours) are vegan, and they all had a vegan friendly coconut ice-cream. We chose 2 sorbet flavours (mango, passion fruit) and were impressed with the creamy texture and fresh flavours. Highly recommended!

Great selection of Gourmet Cheese & other accompaniments from a variety of crackers, spreads, cured meats, breads & not forgetting the flavourful ice creams on offer.
Grabbing a Quick bite from the snacks menu prepared while you wait is also much fancied by visitors.
