David Lawrence Myer Macquarie

I’m a big fan of Myer they always have really nice staff and good quality clothes. My partner and I went to the David Lawrence section today and I found a really nice coat that I liked (I had a similar style many years ago that doesn’t fit me any longer unfortunately). So I got very excited when I saw it and I tried it on. The tag on the coat started to beep (there was NO signage or anything saying you can’t try things on). The lady working for David Lawrence ran towards me and in my fright I took off the coat and said I’m sorry I’m not sure why it’s beeping. She told me because I tried it on I thought she was joking so I gave her a small giggle, she then said “are you going to buy anything?”. Then proceeded to follow me around the store like she was monitoring me. I really wanted to buy the coat but she was making me very uncomfortable so I kept browsing and she kept following me. I saw another coat and asked her if it comes in another colour (trying to lighten the mood so hopefully she would calm down and leave me alone) she said no only what’s on the rack and they don’t it have my size (I’m a size 12 and they did have it). It really felt like a scene out of pretty woman…. I was very upset and I just wanted to leave but decided to go speak to the store manager because no one should ever be made to feel that way. The store manager was very kind and offered to bring me the coat and give me a discount but I didn’t want the coat anymore and I started to cry and got very embarrassed and had to leave :(.

Moral of the story, Myer is still a very good store. David Lawrence you really need to treat people kindly and with respect. Just because I was in my casual everyday clothes shopping on a weekend rather than my professional uncomfortable work clothes doesn’t mean I can’t afford your $350 coat. Get off your high horse!!!
