I visit here regularly just for a quick meal, always satisfied with food and staff. Food is great and prices are the most reasonable in the area! Staff is also always friendly. I will keep coming back! 😊

Yes this place is BYO!!! That makes me almost as happy as the food did. The fish and flavours were fresh and delicate, and not over filling. Get the family size platter like we did, lots of yummy selections between 2 people (not enough for a whole family though - at least for the size of my stomach). Very much appreciate a yummy Japanese tastes experience- we’ll be back soon! ❤

Was so impressed with the pork Udon. By no standards is authentic Japanese but it doesn't mean it wasn't delicious and one of the best suburban udons we've ever had! The soy, sesame oil and Dashi stock was so moorish and comforting and skewer very tasty. Sushi rolls were also great and generous in serving. Loved the vegan roll especially- one of the best combos- so fresh and tasty. Would defn come back if we re in Thirroul again.

Beautiful little restaurant. Staff were very polite and sushi was absolutely amazing and fresh. Probably my favourite pet was the ginger and mayo and soy sauce were thrown in at no extra charge. Pretty rare these days. Will definitely be my local go to from now on

If you love Sushi then this is the place to eat. Also has another location in Wollongong.
This is a quiet little restaurant with a nice modern decor with a hint of Japan and a nice touch with the Koi art on the wall.
Food is five stars. I had take away Salmon Chef's Roll first time I visited. I then came back a second time with my Daughter who ordered the chicken.
Pricing was good for quality and size. Hands down wins over any shopping centre sushi ! I'd have to say it's also better than Sushi Bay which is now number 2 on my list. Toro in Thirroul and their other Store in Wollongong will always be my first choice in the Illawarra.
Well done guys very professional.
If you get a chance drop in you won't be disappointed.

delicious! A quick light meal was what we needed, and what we got. Their customer service was fantastic, pleasant and swift.

Loved Thirroul Toro Sushiya. We didn’t book but we were lucky to get a table. It’s a popular restuarant, bookings are probably preferred.

Definitely lovely, relaxed intimate dining or fun night with a group. Added bonus it’s also open between 3pm-5pm on a Sat.

Sashimi is of high quality, just like all their dishes. So much care goes into making the dishes here and you can tell. Great lunch atmosphere but it can get noisy at night.

I have been coming to Toro Sushiya in Thirroul for many years and they never disappoint. The great quality of the food, friendly service and warm atmosphere are what kept me coming to the restaurant. Their sashimi and tempura bento box is amazing and so is their wagyu short ribs which is flavourful and spot on. Toro Sushiya is definitely worth a visit.

Toro Sushiya is an excellent local Japanese restaurant that offers some of the best sushi and other Japanese dishes in town. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with friendly staff that provides great service.

The menu features an impressive selection of sushi and sashimi options, all of which are expertly crafted with the freshest ingredients. The tempura prawn crunch roll, in particular, is a standout dish that is melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Beyond the sushi, there are also a variety of hot dishes like the udon soup and tempura vegetables that are equally delicious. The miso soup and seaweed salad are also must-tries.

Overall, Toro Sushiya is a top-notch Japanese restaurant that is definitely worth a visit. The quality of the food, great service, and friendly atmosphere make it a fantastic spot for a special dinner or a night out with friends.

Being the only sushi place with Cooee of the northern suburbs from thirroul to Stanwell park, they are packed to the rafters with an endless chain of takeaway as well.
The food is always awesome and freshly made, and the only down side to eating at old people time, is that it's also young people time, so be prepared for a rowdy session.
The service is always prompt and delicious! Highly recommend their wonderful stay for Japanese foods and Aussie versions.
I speak with authority, as since opening in Thirroul, we have visited at least once a week (usually more), & have never had a less than yum experience!

This is a great family friendly local sushi restaurant. We go here often with our two little ones for an early dinner. Sushi and sashimi is fresh and tasty. Staff are always friendly and helpful. They have a broad Japanese menu.

This is the best sushi anywhere, period. Always made to order, so super fresh every time. Try the tempura prawn sushi and cooked tuna sushi, also the crabmeat sushi. So many choices, so good.

Amazing vegan options! Sushi places in Sydney need to learn from Toro Thirroul! We looved the Inari + Avocado + Veg Maki Rolls, loved the big Spring rolls and also the veg tempura. I would go back just to have this again. Quick and friendly service. Highly recommend.

We, three 70+ year-olds, took friends' recommendation and dined at Toro Sushiya. We enjoyed everything about the experience: the staff were gentle, friendly and efficient, the food was excellent (we are experienced eaters of Japanese food) and the price was very reasonable. We recommend Toro to anyone looking for good Japanese dining.

As we live around the corner we have been going to dinner each week at Toro. First night was difficult for them as they didn't think they'd be that busy and also had heaps of take aways! The food is good quality, Sashimi is fresh and you can BYO. Doesn't have a lot of tables so it's better to book and if you only have small party you may have to share tables with someone else as the tables they have are too big. The owner used to manage Moon Sushi in Woonona but now he has opened his own place the quality is much much better (I personally think Moon's has bad quality, at least the last few years).

Highly skilled chefs, superior fresh quality ingredients, wide unique variety, stylish interior and very friendly staff and atmosphere. All adds up to a true overall 5 Star authentic Sushi experience.
