I’m pretty sure the food is laced with magic here! Oh my god, everything was absolutely delicious burgers divine, garlic mushrooms so great, kids meals large and filling, lamb skewers and the spinach feta and pumpkin salad just yum! Espresso Martini 🍸 was magic, the best I’ve ever had. I would 100% recommend this place if you’re in the area it’s a must do! Thank you so much to the lovely friendly staff. AMAZING! 🤩

The food is fantastic and the staff here are amazing! We had a variety of entrees and pre ordered the tomahawk for dinner, and I cannot fault one thing. Would highly recommend Old South. Couldn’t thank Aaron enough for looking after us!

Very delicious food, nice environment, comfortable seating area and friendly server. I I like their mix skewers which has 4 types of meat to choose from, I went for the prawn chicken pork combination and was truly satisfied. They have generous portion of kids meal which are equally tasty. We chose the wedges instead of mash for the kids and they are very happy with the yummy wedges. The shrimp po boy is one of the special item we tried and was happy with it as well as we were looking for non beef burgers. It seems there are lots of regular customers here as well. All in all, great place for yummy food and gatherings.

Stopped here for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the food. Had a chicken burger with waffle fries and it was one of the best burgers I have had in a while. I will come back again when we are down there.

This place was a wonderful surprise! Just passing through Thirroul and stopped at the first place that looked inviting. Staff very friendly and attentive which is always a good start. The burgers with waffle fries was one of the tastiest I have ever had! Excellent bacon and the beef pattie was great. Then came the waffle fries, they were amazing! So fluffy and crispy with fantastic seasoning. I do wish the burger was a little larger in diameter as I did not want to stop!

A superb night that was just such a fabulous time for the whole family. Love the freshness of the food, the cost versus value and taste is incredibly good. Lovely staff and cosy layout. Highly recommend having the shared meals, the meat was amazing and the pork knuckle is was the best dish by far. I’d suggest using better quality cheese for the cheese dip, as it did taste a little cheap, but not unpleasant (some honey added would be nice). I’m French, so I apologise 😊 Highly recommend!! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Amazing customer service! Delicious burgers and genuinely the best coleslaw I’ve ever had in my life. great food after a day at the beach. have yet to come here and try the drinks but looking forward to it.

While I live far from here now, my spiritual connection to country belongs under the escarpment that runs down the majestic Illawarra coast.

Up here for another purpose, I took time out to take a break and get a feed in Thirroul. I came with no real idea and no expectations and randomly selected The Old South.

I wasn’t disappointed. The staff were welcoming and seemed in tune with the beach that is not far away, creating an oasis despite the busy Lawrence Hargreaves Drive that runs outside.

The menu was good but my early choices were disrupted by the sensual word picture of a steak sandwich on special.

The word picture was matched by the reality of a tender, lean New York Strip, cooked medium rare to perfection and served with waffle fry’s. It’s said we eat with our eyes and that was true today.

The food was supplemented by really nice wine by the glass at an accessible price; the cherry on top.

The Illawarra is in my soul but I have added this place to my heart.

Dropped by for a quick meal on a road trip down south. The burger was delicious 👌🤤 The beef pattie was so succulent and juicy with the cheese melted into it. The flavours of the burger was just right. Great friendly service as well. Will definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.

We stopped into Old South for lunch. We got the lunch special, it was delicious! The price was cheap, the food was awesome and the service was 100%. Thanks guys, we will be back!!

Always a fantastic night out. Great food and fabulous, friendly service! Our absolute go-to for our family dinners.

Popped in for a burger which was delicious. Far better than the hungry monkey or papis. And a beautiful sangiovese to wash it down. All four of us enjoyed our meals and Aaron is a great host. The only thing I was not a fan of were the waffle fries. I personally prefer normal chips.

I had a great experience at the restaurant. The ambiance was welcoming and charming, the food was amazing, and the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and made great recommendations. I especially enjoyed the chicken burger and the pork skewers.

The Old South is our go to for a delicious feed and amazing coffee! Everything on the menu is to die for and the cocktails are absolutely awesome. Service is always on point and food is always out in a timely manner. Would highly recommend checking out this absolute gem!
