Dunalley Boat Ramp – Denison Canal

A great place to enjoy local scallops and chips for lunch.

This is a good deep launching ramp.
Be warned that it is a tidal canal, meaning that it will have a big effect unless the tide is on the turn.
Once you have launched you have two options , one is to head West directly into Dunalley Bay. This option puts you in safe sheltered waters.
The other option is to head out through the Dennison Canal via the narrows and out to open ocean. This option has some extremely serious safety issues.
The exit out of the canal is listed as one of the seven most deadly waterways in Tasmania. If you don't know there waters you must get local knowledge or help before you attempt to navigate them .
Another issue is the opening bridge which is only a problem if your vessel is too high to fit under it . If it won't you will need to contact the bridge operator to request him to open the bridge.
No payment is required by the bridge operator.

Neal the Seal inhabits the boat ramp, and the Parks & Wildlife department has blocked access with safety tape. The area now is where the Seal hauls out, recovers from exhaustion. Tourists gather to photograph the Seal who’s became famous on tiktok.
