It is one of the most beautiful churches in Vienna. The look from outside is just amazing. I was unfortunately not inside as it was closed by the time I was there. You can also have a great view when you travel with a car. The colour of the church, the art , the design, the look , and the location of the church are just amazing ❤. A must visit place in Vienna . I always enjoy the view.

The St. Francis of Assisi Church, also known as the Kaiser Jubilee Church and the Mexico Church, is a stunning example of architectural beauty in Vienna, Austria. Situated on the Mexikoplatz, along the banks of the Danube River, this church was constructed between 1898 and 1910 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I’s reign. The church is a remarkable example of Neo-Gothic architecture, showcasing intricate details, spires, and a richly decorated facade that draws the eye and captures the imagination.

Built and inaugurated in 1898 (although the works actually continued until 1913), the church of San Francisco de Asís, with its appearance like a medieval castle with turrets and red roofs, is located in the Plaza de México, on the banks of the Danube.
This enormous church, one of the largest in Vienna, was built in a historicist style, recalling the Romanesque style

This majestic church is often colloquially referred to as the Mexico Church in honour of Mexico's protest against Germany's annexation of Austria.

This church appears to be more ancient than it actually is. It was made to honor the ruler's anniversary of becoming king or queen, and was created to appear as if it was built a long time ago. This church looks really nice. It is located next to the Danube river and has a view of the riverbanks.

Beautiful church from outside and inside, we went to the English mass on Easter Sunday but missed it and decided to stay for the One in German even though we don't speak much it was beautiful with wonderful singing and musical instruments. The church was cold but they got heated seats which was a plus. We have visited before but not for the service.

A strange atmosphere, like still waiting for something to rest in.
The building is only a hundred years old, so it's not that old. Large, but not outstanding in style (maybe it is among many churches in Vienna).

Adjacent to the Danube.
I believe that many visitors, like me, were surprised by its sudden appearance on the way to the Danube.

Amazing part --> Elisabethkapelle.
In excellent condition.
Worth the stop.

What an amazing church. Unfortunately it was closed when I visited it but just admiring it from outside was incredible!
It is situated in Mexicoplatz in Honor to Mexico and their friendship with Austria. A must see if you are in Vienna

The best suprise I got, while on the way to check out Dunav river. This church just popped out as a magical castle 🏰 And it looks like one, too. Seems new~ish. Deserves more visitors.

Well this church was something else!!! Besides the amazing architecture work, and as you can see from my pictures it is spectacular from every corner, the inside is surprising as well. One thing that impact me the most was that besides regular paintings it had two contemporary ones that really spoke to my heart. This church focus it's attention to the Mother of all Nations and you can find brochures inside in many different languages! Definitely worth a visit!

A beautifull church, with a special architecture, somehow different than the others I've visited in Wien, unfortunatelly it was closed and we could not enter...a shame, I am sure that the interior beauty and serenity matches the outside, it can be admired from the park in front and the nearby bridge.

Very lovely church looking like a castle from a fairytale 🏰
Not always open, so beware of the opening hours for visitors (went on a Sunday, and the church closed at 3pm).
5min away on foot from the Vorgartenstrasse (U1).

A breathtaking architectural marble on the Danube shores.
The holy establishment is also known as the Emperor's Jubilee Church.
It is a Basilica-style Catholic Church, built between 1989-1910.
The interior has simple decorations creating a contrast with the rich architectural almost medieval exterior.
The beautiful church also host the Vienna English Speaking Catholic Community (VESCC).
