Good coffee, really tasty desserts - french kiss and souflet. Great service. I feel a little guilty though that i am supporting the enemies of my country who opressed my grandmother and grandfather but as far as i know Hitler is dead but again EXCELLENT desserts, good coffee and i really appreciate great service. It is damn good restaurant:D

Went there today as a recommendation and definitely did not regret it. I was alone but felt very warm welcomed. Starting from the entrance everyone is smiling. Had some food with nice warm bread. Staff is friendly and constantly making sure you are having a good time. If you are coming to Vienna this is definitely your place to go alone or with company.

I was looking around near my hotel for a restaurant for dinner and was drawn in by the vibe walking by Retro. Sleek, clean, open kitchen, music that was a chill beat and not too loud.

As an American who visits Europe, I tend to have 2 major complaints: a lack of fresh meat and vegetables at restaurants, and a limited supply of water with your meal.

I was skeptical when the server told me their ribeyes were from the US. Not all steaks in the US are necessarily that great, how would an Austrian restaurant know what to look for? I chose it anyway. Steaks are a la carte, so I selected a side of vegetables, I’d had enough carbs for the day.

I drank my local (cold) red wine (which was unexpectedly delicious) and enjoyed some sliced bread and spreads (one cheese, one red pepper). I smelled the food coming out to other diners (something smelled deliciously garlicky, it might have been the branzino) and second-guessed my order.

I did not have to wait long, though, assuage my fears. When my steak arrived (despite being cut in a very unique manner), it was beautifully plated, with a whole medley of carrots, broccoli, celery root, spinach, tomatoes on the vine, and zucchini. Every bite was heaven. It was well seasoned; simple but delicious.

The staff was friendly, and the young chef very talented. I will (and did) return again to enjoy more from the menu.

Make sure to bring cash if you go soon because they are in their soft opening and don’t have their credit card system up and running yet.

*Please don’t put your fingers near the parrots, they will bite.

Great pizza, desserts and delicious cocktails in this hidden gem in Vienna. The owner is super nice and knows his stuff!

It was our first time in Vienna and the first place we went to after the hotel was the Retro restaurant. Great experience. Food, drinks, service - great. Definitely recommend. You go as customers and you leave as friends.

We wanted to have a Valentine’s day dinner with my love and we decided to go to the Retro Restaurant, because it is close to our hotel and the reviews are so good about this place. The restaurant was full, since it was a busy day, but they offered me a cozy table. The staff was very kind, friendly and professional, the food was exceptional! Really recommended restaurant!

Fantastic gnocchi, gorgeous tiramisu, excellent wine, super friendly staff. Food well worth travelling out of your way for!

This place, open since September 2019, is doing EVERYTHING right. Charming and attentive service, a great selection of draft beers, an open kitchen, but, first and foremost, there is some top-level cooking going on here! I had the chance to try my way through the menu, and without exceptions, every single dish was made with the right ingredients, authentic recipes, incredibly tasty. The 'Tafelspitz' can easily compete with Plachutta's, and the Tiramisu was served with homemade Tiramisu ice cream on top, a creative twist from the chef.
This place is worth a visit or two, or three, or.... I, for my part, will be back whenever visiting Vienna.
