Doris Cruise Halong Bay

We did a 3 day 2 nights trip:

A luxurious bus picked us up at the hotel. Smooth check in procedure. Once on the ship we had a great lunch, and were introduced to our butler Kevin. If we needed anything we only had to ask him and he would fix it for us. He really took great care of us. Always friendly, took some time to make some small talk and gave us great tips for the rest of our Vietnam trip.

Great trip, the weather wasn't the nicest but that is something they can't do anything about. They sure as hell would if they could.

I must write a review to highlight how awesome the cruise staff are -- especially Jennie! I love that guests are assigned a specific staff member/"butler" who personally takes care of you. Jennie is so sweet, welcoming, and friendly, and she went above and beyond to provide us with impeccable customer service and an amazing experience. She also has an incredible eye for photography. I got some stunning professional-level photos thanks to her! Even staff who are not directly assigned to you will go out of their way to be helpful and ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable trip.

We booked a spacious room with a patio and gorgeous panoramic views. My only complaints about it were that there appeared to be some water damage in our bathroom, and the fan/temperature control wasn't the best (fan was loud, too cold/too hot). There is a schedule provided for the entire trip which includes fun excursions and experiences such as kayaking, a trip to Viet Hai village, visiting the Bright Cave, etc. If you choose not to join those (or you're like my husband and end up feeling a little under the weather), there's not really anything to do on board while everyone else is gone. Definitely book the 3-day cruise because the 2-day version is way too short (it's just about 24 hours).

Very nice boat, lovely crew, really good food. Only negative was the presidential suite is next to the engine exhaust, so noise and smell makes it less desirable. But thanks to Michael from the reception team, who was always there to help with anything and made the whole experience one to remember. He has gone above and beyond his duties.
We would certainly recommend it, just go for the standard room as it was not worth spending the extra money on having a balcony we did not use at all.

I truly enjoyed myself on the Doris Cruise to Ha Long Bay. All of the staff was professional and friendly. My homeboy Raymond started and ended the experience with his big smile, great personality and positive energy during the round-trip transport. Our tour guide Dat was very knowledgeable and entertaining, he shared lots of cool facts about the area and history. The food was good. Tam was my server the entire time and she was amazing, kind, attentive and funny!!!! My room and the views exceeded my expectations! I would definitely recommend cruising with Doris.

We did the 2 night/3 day cruise for Christmas Eve - Boxing Day and had a very special time. The crew made us feel part of the family and put on a real show on Christmas Eve to celebrate. Thank you for the games that took place that evening we loved it!

So so glad we did 2 nights as it gave us time to relax and enjoy the views and the boat. The stop on the 2nd day at Viet Hai island was very pleasant and we enjoyed our trip on the electric car.

Kayaking was really fun. The water was a tad cold as we went in December but the scenery was spectacular. We’d recommend this cruise to anyone. We had the standard room and it was huge. I’m sure the upgrades are even more special but we felt no need. Balcony was great overlooking the bay.

Food was good and the buffet each evening was delicious. Something for everyone and if you don’t find anything staff seemed happy to cook up other things. Cooking class was fun. Bar on board reasonably priced. Cocktails are 3 for 2 during happy hour.

Amazing cruise, we opted for the 2 day option and it was perfect! There is a full schedule for both days and announcements in all the rooms when activities start. The staff were outstanding and helped with everything.

We had the honeymoon suite and the room came with flowers and a cake! Also the kayaking was brill.

The only downsides I can think of is that the balcony divider was see through so it is not that private. Also I thought the jacuzzi would be warm but it was freezing, but these are only minor details.

Our Ha Long Bay cruise was amazing, and Annie, our waitress, made it even better. She was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The views were stunning, and Annie's friendly service made the whole experience really special.

Excellent cruise with very helpful and friendly staff, especially Tâm who took fantastic care of us.
Everyone was very attentive and fast in dealing with all queries.

We enjoyed a lot our stay at Doris Cruise. Everything was great! The kayaking through the bay and the cruise itself have been one of the most wonderful experiences we’ve had here in Vietnam. Indeed, the staff was really helpful and polite. I’d repeat it again for sure!

The service and staff on the Doris Cruise were outstanding. We spent an amazing three days, the excursions were really enjoyable and varied, the staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

We booked the 2-nights 3-days cruise and had a wonderful experience. I strongly recommend going for the longer cruise and not the 1-night option.

The Doris is a small cruise ship for 50 or 60 passengers. It appears well built and well maintained. The cabins are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The star of the show is of course the view. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the cabin and the bathroom let you watch the scenery go by and each cabin also has its own balcony.

The cruise had a packed itinerary with kayaking, a gentle cycle around Cat Ba island, a cocktail party and a cave visit in a rowing boat with a local fisherman. If anything, I would have preferred to spread the excitement out over one additional day and to have spent some more time just enjoying being on the ship.

The food was tasty and plentiful and the staff do a great job of catering for vegans and vegetarians. They also do a great job of encouraging you to order cocktails. These were great, especially the Whisky Sour. However, I recommend that you ask for your drink to be less sweet - the Vietnamese like their sugar so drinks tend to come quite sweet by default.

The cruise does provide wi-fi but the connection is awful and you can't do much more than download your emails, so use the cruise as an opportunity for a digital detox.

The staff were helpful, efficient and friendly. A special mention to our young assistant cruise director who went by the English nickname 'James Bond' who went out of his way to make everyone comfortable and to keep us entertained.

We had a relaxing and fun 3 days/2nights tour with Doris Cruise. The program was well organised and the staff was very accommodating. Everything went smoothly from pick up at the hotel in Hanoi to the drop off. The rooms were clean and the food was also decent on the boat. Judging by the looks of the other boats that we saw Doris is among the nicer and classier ones.

Both my wife and I had a truly amazing time. We had booked 2 days ( 1 night) with Doris Cruise and from start to finish their service was impeccable. The staff on the cruise were friendly especially Windy and Tom. They looked after us well. The room was luxurious and had views all the way around Ha long bay. Pick time was punctual and comfortable for us. We will recommend your cruise to others.

Amazing cruise, would recommend 100%. The boat and room looks exactly like the pictures. The staff is great, food and drinks is amazing and obviously the view is completely breathtaking. The room is great and to have a private balcony when cruising in Halong Bay is a absolutely breathtaking experience. We spent 2 nights in the boat and I would recommend everyone to do that, the people that only stayed for one night missed out on a lot of the experience.

And don’t miss the day activity with the smaller boat and definitely don’t miss the kayaking and swimming!

The Doris Cruise in Halong Bay exceeded my expectations and proved to be an exceptional experience. The rooms provided were of high quality, boasting beautiful bathtubs with open views that allowed for a truly immersive and relaxing atmosphere.

The culinary aspect of the cruise was a highlight, as the five-course meals served were nothing short of fantastic. Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing the culinary expertise of the onboard chefs.

To my surprise and delight, I celebrated my birthday during the cruise. The staff went above and beyond to make it a memorable occasion. They arranged a large birthday cake and orchestrated a procession where all the staff members carried the cake to my table. This thoughtful gesture truly made my day and added an extra touch of warmth and personalization to the experience.

Exploring the bay by kayak was an unforgettable adventure. The breathtaking limestone mountains provided a stunning backdrop as I paddled through the crystal-clear waters. This activity allowed me to connect with the natural beauty of the surroundings in a unique and immersive way.

Another delightful activity offered was night squid fishing. Engaging in this traditional pastime was both fun and educational. The whole experience was complemented by the assistance and guidance provided by the attentive and cooperative staff.

Overall, the staff on the Doris Cruise were incredibly helpful and cooperative throughout the journey. Their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident, as they were always ready to assist and ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all passengers.

We went with M'Gloria from this company and the services were very good. HUX the manager was very carefull with the guest and make our stay very pleasant

we did the 3 day/2 night cruise to lan ha bay. the room was amazing- the bed, sheets, bathroom, tub, shower was the best we had in vietnam. although this is an expensive trip, we enjoyed the splurge. the 2day/1night trip makes no sense to us. you arrive on the boat around 130pm and leave the next morning 1045am. it’s so short you don’t get to enjoy at all. we liked kayaking around. the day trip to cat ba (biking around) was whatever, would have liked to engage with local people more and learn about their life. there were only 2-4 boats docked around us at night so it didn’t feel too busy. the worst part was the ladies in the boat on the first night literally knocking on our balcony asking us to buy things (soda, chips). we understand everyone needs to make money and there is probably not a lot doris can do (except pay them to not come??) but it was really annoying to spend so much money and then not be able to relax on the balcony. the pool was freezing but we were told it would be heated soon so hopefully that has already happened. you have to pay for drinks so bring water bottles and alcohol with you (if you want to drink). the staff is nice but most don’t speak much english. overall we recommend!!
