Madam Thu Restaurant - Taste of Hue

Great tasting platter of local foods as well as a great egg fried rice. Reasonable price and friendly service. The place had a long queue after we sat down which is a good sign!

The menu is extensive, we did have difficulty choosing.

The egg fried rice, the noodles, the fresh spring rolls and grilled pork skewers were delish.

The cold towels were a nice touch and since it was a rainy day, being seated outside was just perfect. One of our best meals in Hue!

The place is quite charming, but the bars across the road could be quite loud. However, the food is really tasty and the staff is very nice, so would definitely recommend.
They even serve a small plate with passion fruit and watermelon for dessert.
Pricing is a bit more expensive than in Hanoi, but fair relatively to Hue and in general.
Some vegetarian items in the menu too, but other than a few dishes it’s quite porky.
The spring rolls are really special and definitely worth ordering.

Well it did live up to the hype. I walked past it a few times from 7pm until 10pm and all tables were sadly so we couldn't get a seat.
So I went today for early lunch
Amazing peanut noodles and generous amounts of pork for 50k
Cold towel on entry and free fruit as desert.
The waitress seemed a little annoyed, maybe because we are interrupting them before their insanely busy nights.

Large menu with lots of recommendations. There is even a platter with a taste of many Hue specialty dishes (that is maybe a bit expensive but worth it if you want to try many things at once).

There was a wait when I went (Sunday dinner) but it was only 10-15 minutes, so walking around the pedestrian streets quickly passed the time.

As a side note, this is a very touristy place (could be a good or bad thing depending on what you like).

Tasty food with lots of options.
Make sure to get there early as this place is very popular.
Scented towels to clean hands before eating and complimentary fruit plate after dinner.

A must do in Hue! Awesome atmosphere, fabulous food, and superb service make Madam Thu worth the stop. Food presentation is divine and tastes as good as it looks! Cold drink variety is huge. Coffee is ok. Complimentary fruit at end rounded off a fantastic dining experience👏

I was here with a tour guide (Linh Lôc) for a food tour in Hue. Amazing place, very good, tasty and typical food, nice vibes and atmosphere! I can’t really say nothing negative about food in Vietnam but this place was among the outstanding ones!

Beautiful food here and I get the feeling the chefs cook with love and put a lot of thought into the flavours and combinations of ingredients. The waiting staff were very helpful and with a good level of English. As a vegetarian this helps in avoiding meat/fish. Only downside about this is the absence of Vietnamese diners which does effect the ambience of the restaurant.

We ordered 1 tasting dish for 2 people so we will know what to order later.

Everything in the dish was special, in the right amount and the food was filling.

I recommend you try it :)

Prices are fair and they gave us a lot of tea with ice (no charge).

You can pay with credit card.

We had to sit outside due to occupancy .
If you would like to sit outside, make a reservation or wait a bit - we didn’t bother to sit inside.

Weather your up for a like snack a d a couple of Beers or a full slap up meal, this place is a must.

Such a great place, food is very good here, service as well, many options, had to come here twice to try different things, don't miss this place if you're into good food.

Really enjoyed this set menu! I liked the variations of things to try out. It was definitely too much for one person so next time I would share it with somebody. The dipping sauces were great and you got free passionfruit and watermelon.

The food is good and tasty. The staff are service-oriented and very pleasant. There were many tourists there, which is very positive and the staff speak a little English.

We came back the next day and ate more🤣

Excellent typical local cuisine! Not to miss! Service and personnel top! They teach you how to eat the complex dishes!

Good food at nice prices, they have a combo that brings small portions of several local dishes in one dish, very good to have a flavor of all the dishes

The food here was really good. Nem lui (lemongrass skewers) were decent although I’d rather taste lemongrass a bit more. The fruit you get at the end of your meal is a nice touch:)
