Very nice historical site to visit. Many buildings are restored and have beautiful grounds. It’s very big place so take your time to enjoy the place. 200k dong for entrance was worth it.

One of the must visits in Vietnam.. never knew the Vietnamese had such a rich history. The whole imperial city complex is charming . There were ruins but there were also buildings that were still operating as temples to the emperors..
would certainly visit again

It’s definitely a must-visit place in Hue. Actually, the remains are not much nowadays, there're many vacant lands, and the entrance fee (200000 VND) is too high for the existing palaces. But it still means a lot to Vietnamese people. Don’t forget to rent a “Nhat Binh” - Vietnamese traditional royal costume in Nguyen Dynasty. That will be an interesting experience.

A great place to spend some time to admire and appreciate the great architecture structure that had been built and are very well preserved. The detailings are just marvelous.

It is worth it, very fascinating! I have visited it in a bit more than 3 hours.
No one asked me to cover my legs (I was wearing shorts) while entering in the temple and other buildings, but you have to take off your shoes and hat.
I went on Sunday and It wasn't crowded at all.

Nice historical site.
Just that many buildings were refurbished, lost the taste of originality

How wonderful the garden is. I really like the Thieu Phuong garden, it’s so cozy, feel so fresh and green, added here there with colors from flowers and the roof. I was lucky to get the cool breeze and cool weather around 1pm-3pm when I visited it. Great experience on that day

The citadel in Hue blew me away. I was expecting it to be beautiful but this was beyond all expectations. There were so many people entering at the same time as us that I worries it would be too crowded to really enjoy it. However, once inside and exploring the grounds , the crowds dissipate as everyone goes off their own direction. We were able to really enjoy the gardens and buildings without the crowds. We spent an easy two and a half hours exploring and enjoying the scenery. If you think you might visit any of the mausoleums, be sure to buy the combo ticket here before entering. It is a good deal. Wear a hat, drink plenty of water, and carry an umbrella.

Beautiful grounds, yes some of the buildings are a bit dilapidated, but the bonsai in the ornamental gardens are worth the entry fee alone.

The Imperial City in Huế is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Vietnam's rich history and culture. The complex was the political and cultural center of the Nguyen dynasty, the last dynasty of Vietnam, and it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The architecture of the Imperial City is stunning, with intricate details and beautiful colors. Visitors can explore the many palaces, temples, and gardens within the complex and learn about the history of the Nguyen dynasty.

The Imperial City is quite large, so it's important to allocate enough time to fully explore it. Audio guides are available for rent, which can provide more in-depth information about the different areas within the complex.

One downside is that the Imperial City can get quite crowded, especially during peak tourist season. This can make it difficult to fully appreciate the beauty and history of the complex.

Overall, the Imperial City is a fascinating and beautiful destination that should not be missed when visiting Huế. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history and culture. I would rate it 4 stars on Google Maps due to the crowds

Beautiful old citadel in the middle of Heu. Really worth a visit while you stay in the city.

Took us at least 2-3 hours to walk around the complex and look at all the wonderfull old buildings.

There's even a VR tour right now.

It was a shame that one of the main tempes was undergoing some restoration work. But still so much worth it.

It's 200k dong entrée. But that money is well spend on maintaining the citadel.
