Well preserved from many centuries ago. Paid or ticketed entry. It’s a unesco site so it’s really beautiful and authentic. No Disney shows here. Only the weather is super hot and humid.

Today we stumbled across the beautiful Ancient House, owned by a long generation of a talented Vietnamese, called the 'Hong' family. This home is over 250 years old and had been lovingly looked after. As you can see from the photos, this place was beautiful.
Our guide showed us slowly around, explaining each room and the artwork on the wall. The father Mr Vo Duc Hong, was a lively character who enjoyed teasing us on our knowledge of ancient wooden tools. We learned how each intricate groove was carved into the wood, and with what tools.
He was also a talented silversmith and after showing us how he would create some of his pieces, he offered to clean our silver for free! The shop sold many delicate, home-made necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings. There were beautiful lanterns for sale, which his family also made. After showing us around, and with no pressure to buy, we were offered tea and slices of pineapple, both which were delicious!
We were happy to leave a small donation for the upkeep of this beautiful home. Entrance is free but why not help keep this historical building alive and enjoying some tea afterwards.

Stumbled upon this amazing gem site. In many ways this place is way better than those old houses in Ancient Town area. It’s free, no ticket is needed to enter, and the house is maintained very well. The family is happy to give you a tour and if you have time, offer you Vietnamese tea with sweets and fruits. They have guest books that you can write brief messages, which makes the family very happy.

Great place to visit! Amazing insight (for free) in how people lived here long time ago. The house is still inhabited and the family living there guide around.
Very impressive collection of manual wood curving tools and hand-made silver jewelry shop inside. Father of the house makes this jewelry himself.
After the tour and visit to the shop we were offered a cake, frozen home-made yogurt, fruit and lotus tea - with great smile of the lady of the house.
Highly recommended! 😃

This ancient house is not part of the Hoi An city ticket - hence you can even visit for free when you have used up all of your 5 stripes. (:

Very nice and warm people.
The jewlery may not be done there, but it was a pleasant purchase anyway.

Phenomenal service and experience by Mr Hong and his family, beautiful craftsmanship with everything they sell there. Overall atmosphere was fantastic and definitely a must see place if you’re ever in Hoi An.

I came here as part of a bicycle tour and had a wonderful time. The family was so welcoming and enthusiastic. They gave us tea, some pea biscuits and some homemade yoghurt. They then showed us around the house and we got to see lots of ancient artifacts, such as dowry boxes, old coins and tools for carpentry and making silver jewellery. I bought one of the rings there and absolutely love it.

Original Vietnamese wooden house. Free entrance and quick summary of Vietnamese architecture provided. There's a shop inside with reasonable prices considered the jewelry is handmade.

It is an actual house with a family living inside, it has been preserved like 200 years ago. They carved the wood for a long time but now they produce jewelry in sterling silver they try to sell you at an honest price.
The tour is short but free.
