Beautiful. Amazing to be up close to such a place. You are permitted access into the ruins for a close look. History is well explained. A 1hr drive out of Da Nang but well worth the trip. Take a GRAB, tour, or if you are a bit more daring, a scooter like we did. Roads and traffic light to moderate in the morning. Got really hot by 11am and lots of tours rolled in so go early!

This is a must visit place! It’s absolutely fascinating and so beautiful. I could’ve spent all day here. There are several groups of ancient buildings set in the forest which you can walk around in a loop. Each site is different to the last and equally as stunning. There is a shuttle service that takes you from the main gate to the beginning of the loop. I would recommend around two hours to do the whole area. Tickets are only 150k each and there are several restaurants, souvenir shops and toilets on the grounds.

Gorgeous ruins! Take the free buggy ride as it can be quite a walk. Lots of people with guides, but you can do it on your own if you like. I also enjoyed the mini museum, it was very informative!

A walkable wide sanctuary park with a lot of nature. The temples are beautiful, and so is the history of the place. But it is really worth to just be in the nature there

Our driver Tu has a friend who works there and he arranged for us to have a private guided tour, if you go there, whether you go with a group or if you get a private guide, absolutely get a guide. They have so much information our guide spoke fluent English and she was so amazing.
The history of this place would have been lost on us without a guide. She told us about the three incarnations of this place how once it was wood and it burned how once it was stone and it toppled and how it is now in sandstone but reconstructed after being blasted to smithereens by a bomb during the war.
So many of the beautiful antiquities have been lost to time and looters, but there is still so much to see and feel and experience.
There may be other places like this in the world, but this place has such a special feel, being in such a beautiful valley underneath the mountain of the god.

Must see if you are interested in Champa people. Beautiful location in the jungle, many different temples in varying degrees of repair. Went on a tour with Venus Tours out of Hoi An, highly recommend them. Our guide Michael spoke excellent English and was a wealth of knowledge as well as being super friendly, funny and an all around great guy!

Hindu temple building around 3rd to 13th century with buildings spread around the leafy forest. Alot of damage was caused by the war and restoration has been done to many of the temple complex/buildings and is ongoing. Easy walking paths to all sites , but access into the site will be difficult for a wheelchair. It is a pretty area throughout. Expect to walk around 1.5km to see everything. Kid friendly.

A beautiful place to visit when you are in Hoi an. Many temples from 7-15 century. Properly maintained. They have shuttle buses free of charge to bring you to the place. It is about 3km walk from the ticket office. Do carry some cash with you. Overall it was a nice experience visiting the place

Went with a local guide on the sunrise tour, which was great as there were no other people on the complex. It's a nice sanctuary with tons of history from the Champa empire, a Hindu based group in vietnam that ruled for over a thousand years. Many of the sites were bombed by the usa in the Vietnam War unfortunately so the site isn't that big and the full sanctuary and museum can be seen in about 2-2.5 hours. For 150k dong i think it's worth seeing in hoi an.

A lot of the negative reviews are from people saying it’s not as good as Angkor Wat. And they are right, it isn’t. But if that’s your bar you might as well not go anywhere else ever again as the Angkor complex is mind blowing.

On to the My Son Sanctuary. It’s worth visiting the Cham Museum in Da Nang before venturing here as many of the best remains were moved to that museum in early 20th C. I mean, there’s a pretty obvious reason why some of the temples in poor shape but restoration work continues and seems fairly sensitive.

It’s also best to arrive early or late if you have one transport to avoid heat and crowds. I’d strongly advise taking the free shuttle to the site from the ticket office. It’s a further walk than it looks!

The on site museum is well worth a look, some good interpretation. Avoid the cafes - obvious tourist traps and some atrocious scores on Google reviews. Bring your own supplies instead.

To wander around leisurely, visit museum and take in some of the Cham musical performances, I’d say allow 3 hours plus.

Very cool place to explore. Great for kids as they loved climbing and exploring. We went in the rain and it was still spectacular! Well worth the 45min car ride from Hoi An.

We loved the My Son sanctuary. A fascinating glimpse into the spiritual and political life in the development of Vietnam. Can understand how it gained World Heritage status. Short walk from carpark to where a tourist 'tram' takes you about 2 km to the ruins. Easy walking around the ruins for the most part, although some have steep stairs that might be challenging for the less agile. Don't miss the cultural performance of dancers and musicians.

Loved it! loved seeing the ruins and a bit of the restoration. Especially when I got it through a guided tour with Simply Vietnam Travel. We had Misa P. She was an absolutely amazing guide. One of the best in my opinion. She had great knowledge, great sense of humour, and really approachable and professional approach at things. Must be all her experience showing. She does some guiding for different tours as well.

The holy valley of "My Son" is a beautiful highlight for anyone looking for a cultural experience. The valley is best visited with a guide who can explain the holy significance of the area. The temples and towers have all been damaged by bombing during the Vietnam war but there is a rebuilding project which is interesting to learn about. A cultural dance accompanied by a local orchestra is also a must see treat!

Very ancient historic place with a cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples. It is considered one of the most important and well-preserved examples of ancient Champa architecture. It was built between the 4th and 13th centuries by the Champa people, who ruled central Vietnam during that time. The temples were dedicated to various Hindu deities, including Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. The complex consists of more than 70 structures, including towers, temples, and other religious buildings. Take your time in wandering and exploring.

Amazing experience. Unbelievable to walk amongst buildings and temples built in the 10th century. Take a guide or at least the audio app. Much better to hear the story whilst you’re in the historical backdrop. Make sure to see the show !

This is a must see. Not as famous (or busy) as anchor wat but most spectacular. A real shame the Americans bombed it and destroyed many of the temples, but on going sympathetic restoration and stabilisation. Awesome experience and one off my bucket list.
