Ta Phin Cave Reviews

One of the most unique attractions in this area, Ta Phin caves is a must do. Prepare to go spelunking on this adventure as spaces can get to be quite tight and you will get slightly dirty and covered in the local clay/mud which exists throughout the caves. If you stick it out though you will find that it leads you to an underground waterfall which may or may not be running depending on how much it has rained recently.

Would definitely recommend getting a guide and to visit the local house closes to its entrance to get the lights turned on underground as it makes for amazing photos. Our guides were two young kids as their dad is normally the tour guide but was busy when we visited the caves. They provided us with head lamps and torches at 20k dong each. Great experience would do again.

Best experience we had in Sa Pa.
I came there with my girlfriend and we had no clue it’s gonna be as adventures as it was. We came inside till what we thought was the end of the cave. From outside came a local kid with two head lamps and took us inside till the end of it and back outside and it was just outstanding. both me and the girl felt like we could have lost in it very easily. The kid was patient and showed us the way. We tipped the little guy for his effort of course and it seemed like he didn’t expect this at all what showed us that we were lucky.
The inside is pretty narrow at some parts and very slippery.
Come ready for this.

Friendly tour guides, knowledgeable and fairly easy walk through the caves (just mind your head).

Get the tour guide and do the entire cave, including the crawling. All the 1 star reviews are from people who aren’t adventurous and would probably be better served sitting back in their retirement homes than exploring an unexplored cave. I am 6’2 (185 cm) and could do it. You can too

And get something from the villagers, most of them can’t afford school past fifteen and they’re good people. Just talk to them, they’re not demons.

If you were adventurous, you definitely should go down the cave. Pack light and bring headlight or flashlight because it's super dark and the deeper you go the narrower it gets. Recommended to have a guide, you can see many ethnic kids in front of the cave entrance offered to take you down, they even provide flashlight. 1 trip is 20,000 vnd. There's a man sitting in front of the cave, he will offer you if you want to pay for turning on the lights within the cave. It's totally up to you, I guess if you want nicer photos then more light won't hurt. Prepare extra clothing if you want to explore deeper cause at some point you will need to crawl.

Beautiful area. Cave is alright, interesting but not super wow. But Worth renting a bike to venture there! Try to spend at least 2 nights around ta phin. Don't pay the first price the girls offer you. They slashed half the price immediately once I said no thank you. Check closing times too.

Not bad! We rent the bike and ride it in the village, the road is pretty bad if your motorcycle skill is good, u may consider.
You can tips the Hmong, they will ride their bike and bring you around.
I manage to go the cave, there’s an elder man who asks me to pay 10,000VND for the lights fee, even though I know that’s light not belonging to him. The journey in the cave is short maybe less than 80m. This’s because after a short distance the cave will become very steep almost 90 degree to climb up. Therefore, it is not advisable to climb. Kinda of cool to go there.
Please be extra careful of the sharpe rock above your head.

Strongly recommended place when you travel to Sapa. Almost 2 hours under the ground. You can't see well but you will get a unforgettable memory.

Amazing experience. Bring flashlights and don't turn on the old man's lightbulbs, the experience will be x2 excited.

Really cool cave. Don't understand why people don't rate it high. It's not touristy and offers no touristic frills. Bring a head lamp
