Mama Mu Ya Homestay

It was such a fantastic full-day experience! I would highly recommend a tour with Mu to anyone coming to Sapa. She is very kind and knowledgeable, and it's just a plus that her english is so good, so we ended up talking a lot and asking a lot of questions. We trekked through the rice fields, visited a couple of different villages, explored a museum with village artifacts, and ended at a waterfall. We also stopped for lunch at her house. Her husband cooked an amazing lunch, and we sat and talked over some happy water! When we were finished, her husband and her daughter motorbiked us back to Sapa town. I would highly recommend her trekking experience and would've loved to do an overnight, but sadly, we already had our hotel booking. Her homestay seemed comfortable, with nice, clean bathrooms and free drinking water. And great food! 👍

We had the best time with Mu! Her and her family are very welcoming and sweet! We had the full experience of living with the locals and trekking with her for two days. I strongly recommend. Thank you for everything Mu!!

Very authentic place. We spent 2 days. Incredible experience! They’re very welcoming, they picked us up from the bus stop in the eve and we had a delicious dinner with fresh ingredients prepared just when we arrived. All meals and trekking with mama Mu included.

If you are looking for a truly authentic homestay experience then this is it. From the moment of stepping off the bus Mama Mu and her husband Ya were so kind and welcoming. It didn’t feel like they were putting on a show or accomodating for tourists, but instead you just tagged along into their world for a few days and it was magical.
Be prepared for simple and basic accomodation, it’s not as flash as the bigger homestays in the valley, but what you get in return is a unique experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Great expierence! We did one day trekking with Mama Mu from Tan Van. It took about 6 hours with lunch at her house. You can choose an easy way or a harder way. We chose harder way through bamboo woods and hills with a lot of mud but it was totally worth it! Amazing views. Our shoes had to be washed but it was not a problem. She explained us some facts regarding Hmong culture. Food was delicious. We did not sleep at her house. The homestay is very basic but you can trully expierence Hmong life depending what you expect from your visit.

It was a great authentic experience with Mu, Ya, their son, daughter and Bee (dog). They basically live their life and you are just staying and eating with them and drinking “happy water” simmilar to vodka or czech slivovice etc. Mu answers every single question you have so do not hesitate to ask her. Recommended to everyone who wants to know what day to day life is for Hmongs. You can try to work on their rice field with them if interested.

Very lovely and charming lady. Knows everything about the place you trek. Her family is lovely. She walked with us 18km and we stayed for the night. Had a great dinner and drank "happy water" (local vodka from rice) with her husband.

The homestay at Mama Mu is wonderful. The view on the rice fields around the mountains really make you feel free and although it's very back to basic, that's what makes the experience so real.

Strongly recommend a stay with Mama Mu Yu, she'll show you around Sapa and the ricefields, take you for a nice lunch and share some of her happy water (local rice spirit)

One of the best experience ever! Sapa is beautiful and mama mu is an amazing host: she cooked for us a good dinner and pancakes for breakfast 😊 The sunset in the rice fields is unforgettable!

What an amazing family! Zee will show you around, at night you will cook and eat with the family! Really relaxed and authentic.

Oceniam jedynie trekking z Mamą Mu. Przez 5 godzin prowadziła nas przez różne ścieżki. Polecam zaopatrzyć się w gumiaki , gdyż trasy są pełne błota. My szliśmy dzień po deszczowym dniu, więc może było wyjątkowo mokro. Całe buty do szorowania pod bieżącą wodą, ale spędzaliśmy w tej wiosce jeszcze noc, więc mogliśmy sobie pozwolić na "suszenie" butów. Fajna wycieczka zakończona obiadem u brata Mamy Mu. Widać, że kobieta przeżyła swoje w tej wiosce i zna każdy jej zakątek. Polecam!

Una experiencia increíble. La familia es encantadora y los dos días en su casa han sido geniales. La comida está muy buena y el trekking merece mucho la pena.
