The Flag Tower. It is former red brick military fort. Built in 1807. Located in the central place of the city of Hué. Today it is the symbolic place of courage, heroism, pride and virility of great Vietnamese nation. The current flagpole is made of reinforced concrete. His height is 121,39 ft (37m). At the top of the present flagpole was placed the massive red flag with a gold star (Cờ đỏ sao vàng). The red background Flag of Vietnam means revolution and the blood shed by the Vietnamese. In the center of the flag is a five-pointed golden star. The five arms of the star symbolize: workers, peasants, soldiers, intelligence and youth.

The foundation was built in 19th century (soil covered with brick wall). The flag pole was built in early 20th century of concrete after the original flag pole collapsed in a big typhoon. When the last emperor abdicated in 1945 and handed over to the commie-led Viet Minh marking the end of Hue as the capital, Viet Minh's flag was raised in this flag pole

The stage of flag (Hue citadel, also known as the stage of Imperial Citadel of Hue City) is an architectural monument of the Nguyen Dynasty, located in the middle of the south side of Hue Citadel under the fortress of Nam Chanh, which is also the place where the imperial flag is hung.

A gigantic flag decorates the blue sky (in the morning) on a sunny day. Great place for photos!
