Le Vintage - The Old Town Wine Shop

This charming wine shop is an amazing addition to this section of Old Town that’s tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the waterfront and surrounded by some of my favorite food establishments. Ben, the owner, is down to earth, genuinely friendly, and kind, which is just a plus because he’s also incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. Popping in and asking for a recommendation is like always having a sommelier at your fingertips, and without the restaurant price markup. There’s an “under $20” section that will still blow out of the water any grocery store selection for a comparable price. They offer free tastings twice a week that also give you a nice discount for anything at the tasting and each one is expertly and thoughtfully put together. I love frequenting this family-owned rockstar establishment (literally, there are guitars hanging up 😏) whenever I’m in the neighborhood. Or maybe it’s why I go to the neighborhood in the first place? In any case, it’s FANTASTIC.

Le Vintage, the old town wine shop, has become a weekly destination for my partner and me, thanks to the outstanding service provided by Ben. Our experiences at this charming store have been nothing short of delightful.

My wife and I love this place! Such a great store for the community. Ben is very knowledgeable and friendly, and has an excellent selection of wines from diverse regions you can’t always find in other stores. If I want to try something different and exciting, this is where I go. He’s always got my favorite go-to wines on standby too! The wine bar next door is great as well. Definitely one of my favorite places in the area.

Le Vin is a great neighborhood wine shop. The Thursday and Saturday tastings are a great way to try wines you may never have heard of. There is also a nice selection of cheeses and charcuterie for purchase.

Love this family-owned, small business. Every time I go in, I get personalized care from the sommelier and always get a perfect recommendation for whatever my mood or the person I'm shopping for. While I never buy my wine from CVS, so I can't compare like the person who left their CVS-loving review, I feel confident in saying that luckily for you and me, Le Vintage Wine Shop is around to save us from cheap, boxed wine that tastes like grape juice. I also love that this family owner takes time for their family.

This is hands down our favorite shop on King Street. Not only do they have free wine tastings twice a week, they are the friendliest and most approachable people who love to talk about wine and help you find what you'll like. They have wine at all price points.

Ben and the Old Town Wine store are the best. Ben is super knowledgeable, extremely friendly and accommodating! He is super helpful with wine selections.

I run with a group and he has wine tastings on the same night we run. Most of the runners head over to the wine tasting! He never complains about the number of people or that we are all in running clothes post run.

Le Vintage is a superb wine shop and a great addition to Old Town, Alexandria. The owner, Ben, is very friendly and incredibly helpful. If you go and tell him your price point and the kind of flavor profile you are looking for (even in the most abstract/obscure/subjective terms) he will always deliver a recommendation that meets your needs at the right price. Notably, he has a wide selection of wines for under $20. The (free) Saturday and Thursday tastings are presented by enthusiastic wine agents who genuinely love quality wine and will share their knowledge and recommendations as well. Best of all, every wine in the shop is natural/biodynamic. If you want supermarket trash which is filled with added sugar and food dyes, the kind which turn your lips purple, dehydrate you and give you a monster hangover - go ahead. But for the same price, you can buy delicious, fragrant wine from all over the world - which has never given me, or my friends with whom I have shared these wines, a hangover. Go and experience wine afresh.

If you look at the places where people live longest in the world they often are drinking wine. The catch is that they are drinking NATURAL wine, not the toxic mess we find in most shops. Wines these days have a plethora of additives, chemicals, pesticides etc. This shop finally gives consumers the option to buy wines that are natural and created in the process enjoyed by our ancestors for hundreds of years.

I can't tell you how much we love this place and what a gift it is the Old Town community. Their wine is consistently delicious and they have a beautiful variety. I also love their weekly free wine tastings. They always showcase something special. Please don't ever close up shop!

Great selection, people there are really nice and knowledgeable about their products for their French wines in particular are really great. Big fan of their cheeses as well got a sheep's raw milk cheese that was great and is contributing to my waistline.

Ben doesn’t stock a bad wine! The variety and complexity of what he selects for his shelves is incredible. He’s always super helpful finding what you’re in the mood for, not to mention there are free wine tastings every Friday and Saturday to help guide you as well. Cherry on top? They have amazing meats, cheeses, and related accoutrements to create an amazing charcuterie spread. And don’t fret, there’s an impressive stock of craft beer for those who prefer hops over grapes. Can’t go wrong at Le Vintage!

Hands down the best wine shop in Old Town and beyond! Ben is so helpful and I’ve never had a wine suggested that I did not enjoy. They have free tastings every Thursday and Saturday, always featuring interesting wines. It’s such a great way to learn about your own tastes so you don’t have to rely solely on others to guide you. Ben is not just a shop owner, he’s a wine educator and is very passionate about his business. Don’t hesitate to stop in!
