Ate Edomae Nigiri Sushi 9 pieces for $14.65 with tax included at Nijiya Market Ala Moana Store. It was fresh and good and the price was so reasonable especially when it was inside the Ala Moana Shopping Center.

I love Nijiya Market. Alot of my favorites are here, too many to list and have pictures of but one of my favorites is the Strawberry Mochi. Always fresh and Yummy. Kansai Yamato brand makes the mochi, a tart local strawberry 🍓 perched on top of a soft, sweet pillow of mochi with a bit of azuki filling. I like to have more mochi in my bites, so it’s just right for me! Yum! 😘 They have tons of other great things there, hoping to post their specialty seasonal items to come really soon.

I love croquettes. My favorite is Yasai flavored croquettes but the Curry ones at Nijiya are tasty. Not a Super strong curry flavor though but mild. I recommend toasting them for a bit to make them crunchy on the outside. They also had creamy seafood ones available as well.

My Sister & Nephew picked up the Nijiya Choco Croissant for me. Not bad for $2.50. A drizzling of chocolate on the outside. Mid tasting. Around C rating. Best if heated in the microwave 25 seconds or so. Perfect with Tea or Coffee but I had absolutely no energy today so I drank a Red Bull. Lol. (Sorry I didn’t get mine from here. Its The Blue Edition Ocean Blast but you can order it on most Japanese websites)

Tried the curry croquette. It was good. The Yasai (vegetable) is still my favorite but I would eat this again. I love croquettes anyway. (sorry the sakura cola was my personal drink i did not buy from Nijiya) The Bentos 🍱 are good here too. Especially the Okonomi. Nice mix of stuff.

My Sister and Nephew picked up mini melon 🍈 pan from Nijiya. My first time trying it. The texture was a bit mushy. Kind of on the super sweet side. Not to my liking but I appreciate any gift so I ate a few and shared the rest. The loaf 🍞 of Nijiya brand bread was good though 👍

Update: Their Yakisoba is quite good for something out of a Convenience Store. Flavor is good with bits of beef and veggies throughout. I would buy it again. Also, it goes well with another Summer favorite, Ramune. They have Hata brand here which is one of my favorites. My mom picked up a Strawberry 🍓 and Orange 🍊 for me 😍 it was yummy! Tried a different bread too. Nice and thick. Perfect for a loaded sandwich, or use for french toast!

This is a gem of a store. Great place for grab and go Japanese food.

Also an area to sit and eat with microwave!

Very reasonably priced. One of my better meals at Waikiki!

Nijiya is a small chain of markets in California and Hawaii specializing in Japanese foods.

THE STORE:
Formerly part of the Ala Moana Plaza, they've relocated to the first level of Ala Moana Center in the Ewa (west) wing, I believe it took over part of the space that used to be the Vintage Cave restaurant. It's a lot smaller than I expected. Parking can be at a premium.

On top of the expected goods, they also had a nice selection of sushi, bentos, beer and wine. A small dining room was available at the front.

What I was on the hunt for and found was the Kagome-brand katsu sauce. It has the best balance of savory, sweet & tart of any brand on the market. Plus, it came in a size double of what I'm normally accustomed to with an affordable price to boot (500 ml for $6.29!).

Another product I was looking for but believe is no longer made are the big sleeves of Shirakiku-brand teriyaki nori. I used to find it at Walmart but haven't seen it for years, nor on Amazon.

Cashier service wasn't anything special as there was no greeting or gratitude.

OVERALL:
Broad selection of specialized groceries at competitive pricing.

I go to Don Qioxte weekly for sushi. Portions are good and fish is usually looking very fresh. Hot curry plate is good, but I wish they offered brown rice with it.

The udon and rice balls were delicious. A great supermarket for Japanese people. I get tired of eating only hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza.Oden was the most delicious.

Al thought most of the labels are in Japanese, they have little white stickers with the inglish name, we love discovering new items here, we love the coffee candy and the Japanese bread flour, the Japanese beef ( from Japan) we love it all

Classic Japanese grocery store. The highlight (for us) was the indoor dining. They have a space for you to eat their fresh stuff, like sushi and even microwave for food that need to be heated! And the prices are good as well.

My first visit to this store and for a minute, I thought I was back in Japan. Very good selection of products. A 'full on' grocery store. A little pricey, but a great location and selection of all types of products. Lots of bento boxes as well. Yum!

They have moved into the mall and are located next to Famous Footwear now. More parking 👍store seems larger which is great 👍 bring your own shopping bag if you can. Really like the selection of shabu shabu / hot pot ingredients 😁 looking forward to Christmas dinner this year as we are having shabu shabu. 🥰

Asian market offering made in Japan groceries and products that may be hard to find in big box stores. They also have grab and go bentos and treats for a quick meal or snack. Fresh meats, fish, and local produce too.

They have a variety of snacks to purchase, next to some great stores to also go and visit. The chips are delicious, and the candy is great too!

Food (sushi) are made with quality rice. I purchased the sushi with a piece of shrimp, piece of clam, two pieces of raw fish, a little bit of fish eggs, two pieces of squid, one piece of takoand two pieces of fried sugary eggs. My problem with that container was that all these pieces were lined up, but not on individual squeezed rice. The rice was just laid out so they were not individual sushi but instead, pieces of things over a mound of rice.
I also bought shrimp shumai. Except for the fact that it was cold, the flavor was pretty good.
Cashier was very nice and fast.
One last thing, I got there at a couple minutes after ten. It was obvious they were just opening up. The sign says that they open at 9.

This is my favorite market. When I miss going to Japan, I can go here and feel like I'm still there. The food is good with a good selection. I like the chirashi bowls. I usually add the sashimi king clam from the produce area in the back. I also like the heater bentos as there is a microwave to heat up food in the dining room area. There's lots of parking. This is also a market to shop for Japanese goods. I like this place as the staff is very nice too.
