Incredibly friendly staff, great prices, and a surprisingly large selection of produce in spite of their small size. I love the seasonal fruits/vegetables. I would shop here so much more if they were open later. Best grocery store in Oakland, hands down.

Yummy deli meats and cheeses, with very reasonable prices. The employees were kind and friendly! You can find almost anything you’d need in your kitchen here despite it being a small store. Highly recommend!

Best Italian store anywhere. Everything's always fresh, great variety, and the prices are good.
Love the fried hot peppers. They limit quantities of them, which sucks because my money is the same as the next person's. If I want a big container, I should be allowed to pay for it, but they limit how much you can buy. If you want a large container ( i think its a lb )...you have to order it in advance or you can't
have it.

I called to order an Italian sub and the woman who answered was very nice. Since it was my first time ordering she kindly described the peppers they add etc. When I came to pick it up I was blown away by how much the small store had to offer including a deli (many Boars head products), pasta, sauces, hot & cold prepared foods, general grocery items etc. The star for me were the meatballs and sauce I got for dinner. They were absolutely delicious! Super nice people and a great store, I will definitely be returning and recommended them to everyone I spoke to for the rest of the day.

Amazing! I stop by around 3-4 times a month for veggies, dough, pasta, bread etc etc. really anything you can ask for at a corner store. Surprisingly large selection of groceries and spices, plus a great deli counter that I would love to utilize more. Prices on par with giant eagle or lower, and a much easier and faster shopping experience if you live in Oakland. The sandwiches are killer and the owners are super kind. They always greet me by name and make for a good interaction to brighten my day! Can't recommend them enough--stop by if you are in the area or looking for buying essential groceries or a great sandwich.

Me and my boyfriend love Groceria!! We go probably once a week to pick up the necessities. The people are so nice and are ready to give recommendations! Highly suggest stopping in.

Small shop that has been a staple of this community forever. Oakland is normally regarded as a food desert, but this place has great priced food, to the point where I will still travel to Oakland after graduating because the cuts are so inexpensive, and they have so much that you can just throw in the oven. Staff is always super friendly and helpful.

I absolutely love Merantes! I have been going there for 3+ years and have always felt welcomed. They don't gouge students for fresh produce and the homemade, ready-made food is delicious! Whenever I am in Oakland I always make a point to stop by.

Best Italian hoagies in oakland! Go early and have one made fresh with awesome Italian bread. Its a small family owned store, but packed with tons of goodies! Stocked with the basics, but also carries imported items you wont find at the big grocery stores!

This place is awesome!! They have Boar's Head lunch meats and cheeses at unbelievable prices. Everything you need on a weekly basis (lunch meat, bread, milk, eggs, produce, etc.) Is very reasonably priced. Their produce is all local and they have a good selection. Some things are pretty expensive, but you are definitely getting what you pay for with specialty items. They have a fantastic selection of cheeses and they are all great. They also have really good deserts. It's got the mom-and-pop charm as soon as you walk in the door. The whole family is very nice and helpful, to the point where they will give suggestions on how to prepare different foods and will literally walk you through the whole process of how to prepare anything.

I have worked in Oakland for over 10 years now and always heard rumors about this great Italian corner market. Today was the first time I was able to visit. My gorgeous wife and I were impressed with the variety, kindness, and excellent home cooked food that we found there! Will definitely come back - much more often than ever 10 years!!

Been coming here for over 20 years and they are soon to celebrate 40 years in business! The people are so nice, the fresh produce and prices are the best around and they always have good quality stock. Excellent import goods, too. The deli is fantastic! You can get a giant hoagie on an entire huge loaf of Italian bread for about $10. Easy feeds two hungry guys. So at $5/each, its THE best lunch in Oakland, although there's no way that's all you're leaving with. Late spring, look for great deals on fresh herbs and beautiful herb gardens they put together in one big pot for you to take away. FANTASTIC!!! A true institution in South Oakland. Do yourself and your soul a favor and go pay them a visit. It will not be your last!

Highly recommend. Small but packed with no shortage of delectables. Frozen ravioli is my go to every time, and a side of meatballs to go with it is a requirement- frozen or in sauce. Staff is super friendly and happy to help. I make a special trip every time I am near by.

Can't say enough good things about this place. While it is certainly cramped inside, it is only to fit as much delicious, reasonably priced food as is possible: the best fruits and vegetables in Oakland, a wide range of Italian imports, and great prepared foods. Plus it's independently owned, so you can feel good about spending your money here.

This is my around the corner stop for anything from a cup of coffee, to quality Boars Head meats and cheeses, to authentic Italian desserts. Authentic pastas and sauces both imported and local. These amazing people will send you home smiling with some fantastic treats if you ask them about the cooler by the register. Don't miss out on any of the flowers or fresh produce either! Call me a regular, can't recommend this place enough to Oakland students and residents or anyone in the neighborhood!

Oakland can be a pretty bad food desert at times, but thankfully we have this wonderful establishment to keep us hooked up with fresh vegetables and high-quality import olives. You can count on varying and interesting selections of fresh fruit and veg alongside the normal root-veg staples

Tiny little store locally owned. The employees are friendly and answered any and all questions. They sell authentic imported Italian foods and locally grown produce at way lower prices than grocery stores and better quality.
