By far one of my favorite local businesses for gift items. So many unique things from cool books, socks, cards, candles, soaps, furniture and more and more. Service is always warm, welcoming & informative. Prices are reasonable and if your looking for awesome finds for the four-legged family members we love sooooo much just head on over 2 (yes, two) doors and you'll enter an expanded space full of fun things for pets, children and friends who love jewelry, hats, scarfs and you guessed it....more and more and more.

My favorite items are socks with obscenity, Nag Champa soap and celebrity print by sticker book featuring greats such as Prince, Nina Simone, Beyoncé and more and more and more.

Mary and her staff have always been welcoming and helpful with every visit my daughter and I have made to her store.
I visit every time I come to St. Louis from Albuquerque, NM. It is a must stop for visitors to the area. Extremely happy to support local businesses such as Urban Matter.

Whenever I need a gift for someone and I'm not sure what exactly to get, I come here. They have such a wide variety of unique things here. They literally have something for everyone. Every time I come here, I have to stop myself from buying everything in the store! The staff is super friendly and helpful as well.

Wonderful boutique with lots of Midwestern crafters/makers. The associates are always willing to help, offering to hold the items you've already picked out at the desk, and can offer suggestions for gifts. They have a great selection of items just about for everyone. Stock include leather goods, greeting cards, home decor, candles, and more.

Lovely pair of shops with high quality, diverse gifts for anyone you need to buy for. Hard to avoid buying up all their jewelry and leather goods for myself. A nice selection of kids items, men’s grooming, kitchen and bar wares, organization bits, and more. Aesthetic and organized display that makes for easy browsing.

You will always find something new an unique in Urban Matter (make sure to check out both storefronts!). It's great for gifts or just to treat yourself. Their kitchen supplies are top tier and many are unique, and there are plenty of little toches too add some character to every home!

This place is so cute! They have so much good stuff - candles, books, notebooks, incense, lots of local goods… it’a great! I found my favorite notebook here and if you like paper as much as I do, you know what a great feeling that is!! 😅

I LOVE this shop! You will step in to a hip, creative and welcoming shop, with very reasonably priced and one-of-a-kind items for your home or office. The owner, Mary, took time to really talk with us, and she has a great story to tell about her own entrepreneurial adventure. I wish her and her partner all the best as they help lead the way in transforming this stretch of Virginia Ave. into a real destination. I'm visiting from Denver and will be back next time I'm in town. Delightful!

I am so incredibly impressed with Urban Matter! Their U Matter curated gift boxes have been a light during this COVID-19 crisis. Mary was extremely helpful in selecting thoughtful items for a loss of a pet gift box, as well as a birthday box. Both recipients commented how appropriate and great the quality of items were. The process was extremely easy: providing a price point, a few details, and then Mary made excellent suggestions, or asked additional questions and gave some options. I am so grateful for this service and this local business, and encourage you to check them out the next time you need any type of gift!

I not only sell my hand wrought jewelry at Urban Matter but am also a customer and have been since they opened their doors. It's a beautiful store that represents many local artisans as well as makers from across the U.S. I love working with Mary, the owner. she has a keen eye for well designed products and she does a fantastic job curating her store. If you want a special gift for someone, this is the place to find it!

The cutest, area makers shop! A great variety of selection! Super friendly staff. I highly recommend Urban Matter for gifts or something for yourself.

Street parking but not a super busy area so lots available. For wheelchair users there is a large curb step in front but if you can wheelie and have a friend to bump you it is very manageable. They do have a zero entry back door, you roll up the little drive on the righ side of the building and around the back. the back few feet is crushed gravel but it is short distance. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

If you want to buy really neat stuff and look around and think "my life will never be this put together or neat" boy, is this the place for you. They have local products, the staff is helpful and hasn't had the light drained from their eyes yet. They may actually believe in what they're doing. Love it. Wish I could afford the furniture! (Back to IKEA I go)

You need to check out this perfectly curated shop in the heart of Dutch Town. Mary was super helpful and could speak to all the local artists and makers work she features on her shelves. Cashmere scarves, jewelry, cards, bags, pottery and more; everything is handmade and of very high quality. I'd recommend for gifts, home, and office!

This place is AMAZING. My husband and I like to give unique, locally produced jewelry art and gifts. We are in there frequently and have come to know the owners the commitment they are making to the local art and makers community is praiseworthy.
