The Realm Refillery

This refilling shop is adorable! I appreciate the clear labeling of ingredients, and the availability of free or purchasable empty jars. The plant-based focus is fantastic, offering alternatives like powdered coconut milk. It's perfect for getting precise amounts of spices without committing to a full bottle too. They also carry fresh and local produce, which is great if you're trying to shop local. The scents of their body/hair/household products are delightful, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. The owners also seem very ethical and community-oriented; I always felt very welcomed in the store and I also appreciate their IG account too. I have learned a lot from them! I highly recommend Realm—my only wish is that they could open a location closer to where I live for everyday errands, but I always try to visit when in the area for appointments.

The Realm is the type of business that makes a community, a community. They are always working to adapt their business to meet their customers’ needs. I love shopping here because it makes reducing my plastic waste so much easier. They have a wide variety of items and are always working on adding something new and exciting. The staff are also some of the nicest folks ever and will answer all the questions you may have. If you haven’t stopped in, you definitely should!

I’d live here if I could….no lie. This place is so bright and clean. I’ve had lovely experiences with everyone who works there. One can find any spice they’re looking for at a comparable price to grocery stores (I shop at Safeway) and it will be the best tasting garlic powder you’ll ever encounter. I’ll admit the way they display their pricing SEEMS like it will cost more BUT when you weigh it out it’s often cheaper than grocery stores. This place has become a staple I make it out to at least once a month, and I always look forward to getting back to The Realm<3

Quite possibly the best thing in Portland! This store is filled with absolutely everything you need. The owners and staff here are all incredibly friendly, kind, and welcoming! Every time I'm there to visit and stock up, there are more goodies to choose from. I love the option to order in large bulk quantities. And the ability to bring your own containers is something so special and unique, it makes this place a gem.

I wish this was every grocery store!! I got to reuse my own bottles for olive oils and I wanted to try the chai mix they had and they had extra containers! They have anything you could need from facial serum to spices. The staff was so helpful on how to weigh and tag your bottles for check out. They have great local items too!

Realm refillery is a wonderful spot! I love their selection, and their staff are so helpful and accommodating. More importantly they walk their talk about being ethical, and show up for community in important and meaningful ways across so many issues. Their social media has incredible educational content too, which i LOVE! And, I love supporting a business that I know shares my values, including not putting up with racism, genocide apologists, and products that support them. There are so many reasons to love this place!

high quality bulk goods, local produce, package free, AND budget friendly?! you got it. the selection is seasonal and diverse - I'm inspired with new recipe ideas after each visit. all of the teas smell soooo good I can't wait to try them all. the assortment of spices is AMAZING.

I have been going to Realm for my refillable groceries for well over a year now and look forward to it every time. Everyone there is so kind and helpful, even suggesting recipes! Being an EBT user having them as an option for sustainable shopping is huge. Have never walked out not finding what I need or an even better alternative. 10/10 recommend and continuously encourage friends to make the switch to zero waste grocery shopping!

Absolutely fantastic store. My partner and I visited for the first time a few weeks ago and will be doing as much of our shopping as possible here in the future. I feel like I’m saving money and reducing my plastic waste significantly, which can be so difficult with grocery & cleaning products. Thank you Realm!!! We love you!!!

My favorite shop in Portland! I stop in every time I am in town and I am always blown away at the selection, beautiful local produce, and the friendly staff. I tell everyone I meet about The Realm and how much good they are doing for the community and planet. Keep up the fantastic work!

I love going to visit The Realm - it’s always a friendly and relaxing part of my day. Excellent & thorough selection of bulk good and home goods. They pack a wonderful variety for such a small space and are committed to reducing waste. The staff are super nice and I always end up chatting with someone when I pop in.

Sincerely one of my favorite places to shop! They make every effort to have not only sustainable practices, but extending that energy to making the space as accessible as possible and standing by ethical business choices. My rollator has plenty of room to turn around, and although many items are low to the ground I've never had trouble navigating there is plenty of space to move. Wonderful friendly staff, clear ingredient labeling, and incredibly allergen friendly. Ryan is always a gem and never fails to make me feel engaged and welcomed. Not always a one stop shop for our needs but has the best selection of quality bulk food goods and soap/bath items. There is signage as soon as you walk in, and around/on the container areas to explain their specific process. I am thrilled to have access to this shop and to continue being a patron!

Most amazing package-free grocery store. Brittany and Ryan are so passionate about what they do and the impact they have on the community. They're committed to providing the most responsible and highest quality items possible and it shows! I feel lucky to have a spot like this in Portland!

Can't say enough about how wonderful this store is! You name it, they probably have it and you can be confident that it is all sustainably and thoughtfully sourced. Beautiful produce, incredible spices (even the unique ones that you struggle to find in most stores), toiletries and all the pantry items you can imagine all in one magical store! You can see how much thought and passion goes into this store as soon as you walk in the door. The staff is all incredibly friendly and knowledgable. The system they have in place for bringing your own containers (and taring) is fun and simple to use. Per recommendation, we got a container of their cashew milk yogurt and I highly recommend! I have been thrilled with every speciality item we have tried. Unique granola flavors, vegan broth mix (great to have on hand), flavored popcorn...try it all! So happy to have this store in Portland and just hoping they expand all over the city and beyond!

An amazing place to visit and shop. I don’t know if they still carry it but the last time I was there they had Dingers Deli meats, which is just awesome! A must visit if you are a Portland shopper

I did a price comparison and this place is way more affordable than New Seasons (New Seasons isn’t actually affordable at all - it’s just greenwashed), and Realm prices hit Co-op bulk prices spot on or lower even.

I honestly appreciate how proactive/outspoken they are about social, environmental, and ethics issues. I feel good about supporting a business that shares my values and isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right.

Plus everyone is so dang friendly here! Thoughtful suggestions at the register and they always go above and beyond to help me find things.

I also love that they carry a lot of smaller local brands like Ramblin’ Rose Vegan Ice Cream! This place feels like the rightful sequel and evolution to Food Fight (RIP.)

Happened into this new business. It is a small Bulk style shopping with NO bags. They have jars you can fill and you can buy products by the pound or ounces. Veggies to topical salve,deodorant,nuts and snacks laundry detergent. It’s worth stopping in for a check.

So happy to have this wonderful store in our neighborhood. Bright clean space, friendly and helpful employees and, best of all, thoughtfully procured items that support us in our sustainability goals. Would highly recommend!
