Giant Eagle Supermarket

I'm an Arizona architect that primarily designs schools now but I also worked on the World Trade Center. I recently stumbled upon this place while attending a conference on open-plan school design. This is a very unique store design and it reminds me of a few of the stores that BEST built in the late-'70s. It also had the half-demolished facade. The irony in the facade speaks a million words. This is one of those rare buildings that's more of an architectural idealogical statement than a building itself.

I haven't yet figured out what the message of the statement is at this Giant Eagle. It's obviously deconstructivist and also perhaps a cynical rejection to modern architecture at that time. It appears their intent is to portray the destruction of early-'80s mall architecture as the savior of the 2019 supermarket. I get it. It's a provocative statement, but on a very expensive piece of property. I would almost expect an actual mall here with the exit ramps and everything.

I praise Giant Eagle for going above and beyond with the architectural design of this store, going so far as to make a statement in the retail architecture community. The attention to detail is incredible, including the "Tony's Got It" lettering from a former "store" and in-tact mechanical systems.

I hope, like BEST, Giant Eagle expands the scope of their cultural architecture program to more stores with more unique designs.

I have to say that this giant eagle has more stuff than than the other one I go to and had plenty more of what I like to buy and for some reason the prices on things I buy were just a few cents cheaper... But definitely two 👍 thumbs up

First time in Pittsburgh and to this chain. Impressive is the word to describe the staff, store and prices. Wish there was Giant Eagle in the south!

The plastic bag ban is in effect now (>2023-10-14) and The People are not happy. Just don't take it out on the GE staff.

Did some weekly shopping here. They had a great sale on sweet potatoes, and I bought nearly ten pounds for holiday baking. Somehow managed to leave them in my cart as I was loading my car! So I called up to customer service the next day, today, and spoke to Tondra on the phone. She was not sure at that time if anyone had turned them in, but ask3d me to cone up to the store with mt receipt. After coming up to see her several hours later, not only did Tondra remember our conversation, but she was friendly, polite, and professional with me the entire time. I was fold to go and get a new bag of sweet potatoes, meet her at a register, and was not even charged for them! That was SO nice! I am always treated very well at this store, and the immediate and friendly replacement of my lost groceries is just one more reason why I will keep coming back to shop here. Thank you, Tondra, and all of the excellent people working here!

I've been shopping here for years. The store isn't as nice as it used to be, but the staff make up for that. The pharmacy staff is excellent and so very helpful. Great people. The best.

There is a gentleman named Evin who works there. He always makes me smile.

Friendly employees, store is very clean and shelves are well stocked.

This giant eagle is my go to grocery store. I swear the produce selection is the best in the city and the staff have always been super friendly. During the pandemic, I did curbside pickup and this store was always stocked so I got what I needed safely. A heads up that this store doesn’t have alcohol or large selections of fish, but is perfect for daily grocery shopping. I think locals forget that this place exists (its location is kind of tucked away) because I’ve never seen large amounts of people here. This is my favorite part and it will always be my oasis of a grocery store!

Wonderful curbside pickup crew. Great selection. Store associates are friendly and helpful. The butchers came over to help us and they were just great! They even offered to custom-cut a beef roast for us. This is my new go-to grocery store.

This is a small store that packs a BIG punch. A lot of quality items. I LOVE the spice rack, great international seasonings that you usually only find in Market Districts. The bakery has soft pretzels too.

The staff is so helpful and friendly. Darius is a young man who usually helps me and he is so kind and respectful. The manager (?) who calls about my order is also very kind and helpful. I'm so grateful for their curbside service and for the wonderful staff!

Great supermarket. Wide selection here and quality goods. This location is a little hidden but it's close and easy to get to.

This is my store, all staff are cool and pleasant to talk too. Rarely can't find what I need. Never over crowed and usually don't have to wait in line for cashier or self check out.

I noticed prices are becoming extremely high. Being that giant eagle is a big name store, they're prices are much higher than shop n save or aldi

The store is always very clean and well stocked. All the gentlemen in the Deli Dept are always very friendly and really care about their customers. I always get great customer service in the Deli.

I am so grateful that Giant Eagle continues to offer curbside pickup.

I have been in this area for a weekly prayer group and I pop in here to pick up groceries I need. The people are cheerful and helpful. The isles are big and the meat and vegetable section is great!

To many choices, but my favorite part is the race car shopping cart where you become a professional racer and by the way racecar spelled backwards is racecar 🏎 and while we're on the topic of palindromes ratsliveonnoevilstar is also a palindrome. Anyway the parking is nice and I met a friend while I was there, also I think everyone one should play dungeons and dragons, it's a fun game and you can meet new people like TEA ☕🍵 I think I am going to stay home but I'm not sure what to do.
