ShopRite of Lyndhurst

Quite good store, with just about everything I could want. Good bakery, and decent sushi section. Look carefully however, if you want a bargain. Only drawback is the self service checkout counters occasionally become a bit balky at times. Definitely do get their customer rewards cards. It will help save you money.
Update September 2023: They have made a cute addition to their staff. It's a robot named Tally, here to take stock of shelf inventory.

I'm giving five stars purely because of Tom, the Manager of the produce section. If he's not the manager of produce at this store, he should be. I walked into the store seeking a few items and didn't bring a cart. Tom, seeing me with items in my hand, walked outside the store, got a cart and brought it inside for me. We talked extensively about fruits and vegetables, from a health standpoint, which was a great conversation. That's above and beyond customer service. The produce was way big, fresh and healthy as you can clearly see from the photos.

Neat, Clean, well laid out & lots of Parking. Staff is cheerful and friendly. Overall atmosphere - really good. Great prices - and diverse choices. Their in-house bakery section is awesome ! ....and so is their flower shop - right next to the entrance. Enjoy visiting this grocery store !

The customer service I received at this location is beyond AMAZING!
While shopping, I clumsily lost $120 in cash. I realized it at checkout and freaked out as the money was not mine to lose. I asked one of the clerks and he said good luck finding it. Then I saw the store management team all together and asked them for assistance. They immediately jumped into action to assist me. One of the managers reviewed their cameras to see if they could find something and sadly said they were not able to see anything. I was mortified! They proceeded to offer to pay for my groceries, which they didn’t have to and were persistent in helping me. While in conservation one of the managers received a note that someone found it. I was in shock! The manager called the number left, and a minute or so later the Angel that found my money appeared. I burst into tears! We all hugged, and I was consumed with joy & tears!
I truly felt God did this for a reason to show me that there are angels (genuinely good people) amongst us. That experience renewed my faith!
If I could give this location 100 star rating I would, as they were amazingly compassionate towards me.

I love this ShopRite! I have no complaints about the produce, and entire store is typically very well stocked.  The employees are very helpful and polite. If you're gonna use one of those motorized carts, #8 & #9 are the strongest and fastest.

They are open till midnight so I love shopping late to have the store all to myself. The individuals stocking the shelves late at night are also polite and helpful.  I've never sat down to eat at the buffet area. It always looks clean when I pass it though. Averaging the times I've used the bathroom over the many years I have shopped here I give it a 9 out of 10.  Overall the expiration dates seem to be rotated very well. The meat department always smells fresh. (No smell is good smell around uncooked meat lol)  I don't have to question the meat section, cold cut department or fish department. That is a huge reason why I continue to shop here!  This is not as remodeled and new as the ShopRite in Wallington but that doesn't matter to me because this location is kept very clean and orderly.  For convenience, they have 2 large deli cases with pre-cut cheese and meats, one for Thumann's and one for other brands. I have never come across expired packages in there, once again, this is why my family continues to give this place thousands of dollars a year in business.

Most of the time the check out lines are small to medium. Only on an occasion do I wait long. Approximately 10:30pm-11pm they close all or all but 1 register. Closer to Midnight zero registers may be open, and I have to rely on those self checkouts. I dislike using them, especially with large orders.  (This last comment gives me the opportunity to highlight the fantastic customer service once again) Someone will come over and ask if I need help, or I can ask if I need to.  If you need help to the car they can also call someone for assistance.

Now to compare ShopRite to Stop & Shop Lyndhurst or Foodtown N. Arlington.  In the past 30 years ShopRite (all stores in general) has the best selection and variety of any Supermarket Hands Down!  Foodtown is very small and overpriced. Stop & Shop would be the closest thing to 2nd place. If I go shopping at any of these 3 stores without coupons or checking for sales I will leave ShopRite paying the least as well.

P.S. In case u look at the pics, I wonder if it was humanly possible to stuff that motorized cart more than I did. I decided it was wise to get the eggs next time ha ha

I love this shoprite location. All the vegetables and fruits are fresh. So many different selections that I don't have to go other stores.

The store has a nice variety. Produce is great and bakery is even better. Decent parking. Bathrooms available to the left of the store. Self serve checkout.

The store is huge and they have everything imaginable. It is clean and well organized, with clear signage everywhere. The associates are helpful also. Bathrooms are clean. There is a large self checkout area but cashiers are still available also. They have a pharmacy and a customer service area. I went on a Monday afternoon, early, and there were no lines. I would recommend this store.

Holidays can be stressful and food shopping during these busy times can really drive you nuts. From finding a parking spot to pushing through choked isles, good staff and good customer service are what can make the difference in making the entire grocery shopping experience bearable and maybe even a pleasure. Shoprite of Lyndhurst, NJ is that place.
I grew up in New Jersey, Newark actually and my mom is still there. Visiting for the Thanksgiving from my new home in FL, I accepted the offer to help cook dinner. Mom lives across the street from a supermarket, but she insists we drive 10 miles away, across 4 towns to this Shoprite. Why?
Is it the sheer size and vast availability of products? Can it be the freshness and quality of it's produce? Perhaps the reason she passes over two other Shoprites is because of the professionalism and efficiency of its staff...I think it's all of them and more.
During our visit we filled TWO shopping carts with stuff, we stopped several employees to ask for help and were treated with courtesy and respect, not just by floor members but especially by my cashier, Crystal, she was amazing.
I missed my mom so much so this was such a good way to bond and spend time with her. Thank you Shoprite of Lyndhurst.

Beautiful large store with so many wonderful selections. Many items available here not seen elsewhere. Bakery looks very nice. So clean and organized....a pleasure to shop. Associates very friendly and helpful. Ample parking .

got in trouble with the busy-bodies
left our dog in the car. it was 87 outside, night time. BUT my car is a HYBRID and can run the AC on max for 8 hours on just battery. It is electric so it is silent.
there are many models of hybrid and full electric vehicles that have powered climate control. If you see a dog in a hybrid in summer time. Chances are it's in climate control.

This review is about the bakery and only the bakery. They misunderstood what I wanted done to the cakes but Jennifer and Maria were ready to take care of it and fix them. Very professional and made it happen. After a little waiting I got the cakes EXACTLY how I asked for them. Thank you Jennifer and Maria. Customer service gets a A+ from me. And the guys in the back who actually FIXED the cakes THANK YOU!

Great place truly brings back a lot of memories from child hood days

Love this place! Shop here with my family and it's always a pleasure. The people and workers are always so kind and it's always nice and quiet. Best supermarket hands down

Besides being extremely convenient, being near home it has managed to maintaine itself due to great Mangment and STAFF 😉🤗💯 for over 30 YEARS that I have been Lucky enough to have a ShopRite worth counting on TYSM to ALL Involved...

I love their pick up service where they bring your groceries out to the car. I shop online and never have to step foot in the place or deal with lines, bagging, etc.
