Reminds me of the great eras of GameStop. Lots of cool consoles and friendly staff, I’ve had some questionable deals in the past, but if you don’t like the price you can just say no. Lots of cool games and definitely helped me build my collection. I’ll be a regular here for a long time!

I think this is a great video game store with a very decent variety of video games, game accessories, pokémon cards and many other things. If there's a video game you're looking for and they don't have it at this location, they will order it from one of the other stores and it could be sent to your home for just under $5 or you could pick up in the store at no cost. It may take a few weeks to get a game that way, but it's a great option.

Been coming to this hole in the wall since I was kid and still love it to death. Super friendly staff that care about the different niches they sell for. Fans helping fans is the best way I can describe them. Whenever I need anything physical I always come here first when I can. Def a must stop

I just have to say I have to give them five stars the gentleman working on Saturday and Monday or so great about getting my daughters game for PlayStation to and the memory cards. They made one little girl very happy will recommend everybody.

We went in looking for a hunting game. They didnt have what we wanted, so we got another racing game & a racing set up. We got it home and everything works great! It sure makes racing a lot harder! So fun!

Always great to go to as a local video game store, especially with the variety of stuff to sell...or buy back! They also sell Legos, trading cards, and magic the gathering cards. They sell current systems and their games as well as older and retro, all the way back to the Sega dreamcast

Loved it. We were from out of town and looking for a GameStop for our daughter to find Pokemon games. GameStop was closed, but we came across this store and we were impressed! The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was able to look at some classic video games and really affordable places. I'm talking under $5 for majority of them and they even had a buy two get one free deal going on. We couldn't have been happier to have found this place.

Every time i go in to browse, i always walk out with a few things. Great staff, knowledgeable and friendly.

I visit this store almost every week. Yes, they have lots of video games from every system available. Also systems and accessories. But did you know they also have trading cards? Poke'mon, magic the gathering, and others. They sell new cards. They also have binders and boxes of quality used cards to look through. They have deck boxes, sleeves and binders also. Not to mention collectable toys and figures. They carry used movies as well. The employees are very friendly and knowledgeable.

I absolutely love this store, and the owner is just so fantastic. He gave my little 2 year old a choice of any toy in store free. It made his day so much and was greatly appreciated. I love thamount of choices there are in games, toys, posters, and etc.

There's always something to find if you're either retro, modern or both. Highly recommend for the great selection, and awesome staff.

VGE is, by far, my favorite game store. They have an excellent, ever-evolving selection of preowned and new video games, consoles, smart devices, movies, and even trading cards, gift cards, new plushies, new board games... Seriously, this place is nerd heaven. They offer the best trade-in value around, usually at least double the competitors for both cash and store credit, and their loyalty rewards program (punch card) is pretty sweet. Do I want 20% off of a game or movie thanks to buying things I was already going to buy? Heck yes I do, thank you very much! Sales going on pretty much all the time, an amazing and super friendly and helpful staff, nice location for you to stop by and grab a game after lunch or picking up some groceries, what's not to love? This place and these guys are really great.

I moved here to Dubuque almost 2 years ago. It's Great store, nice to trade stuff in. many times I've picked up new games between 40-60 dollars, and traded them in after beating them and still got 30+ dollars. The few times I've gone to gamestop no matter what game it was I was always offered less there than here at video games etc. I see other reviews complain that they bought a game for x amount and couldn't get that much back.... Of course not. They are a resale shop...and no ones gonna give you much on a sports game. Lol.

The gentleman at the counter was very helpful! Stood there with me for 15+ min hunting down a specific game, calling multiple stores to verify inventory only to find out first 2 didn't have it. Will be back again!

These guys were awesome. A lot better deals than GameStop and nicer employees!!! They will give you more for your games, consoles or anything than GameStop! Traded in my ps4 and was able to get an Xbox one s and a couple games. I honestly can not say enough good stuff about this place.

Best Video game store around. Friendly staff, great selection of products. Best trade values also, don't go to the big guys when you can get a better deal here and support a small business.

Excellent small business. I purchase all of my games there. I've bought my gameboy SP, PS3, and several other things there and I always come away satisfied. When I bought my playstation, they only had the 120g system when I wanted the 80g (I was looking for a used system). They initially told me they had an 80g system and it'd be around $150. They returned from the back with the 120g system because it was all they had used. Then they gave me a discount on the spot and only charged my $150! I was blown away.

Another good discount story - I walked in to buy a controller for my PS3 a few months later, merely out of coincidence the manager was packaging and sealing a controller at that exact moment. Of course, he dropped what he was doing to help me out and I told him what I wanted. He told me since I saved him that packaging that he'd give me 10% off. No joke. I don't think a customer can expect more than that, really.

Also, whenever I'm in there to ask a completely random gaming question, they always seem to have a relevant answer, even if it means I'm NOT going to buy something.

As for the people complaining about the trade in values and not getting good cash for used games, consider this; Most of the used games that are over a year old sit on the shelves for a while. They have duplicates of almost every game you see in the store. Expecting cash for old sports video games or games for old systems is ridiculous because they probably won't sell them anyway. If they do, it won't be for a while or for much profit. If you want cash instead of store credit (which is usually pretty fair anyways) trade in something they can SELL. Like a popular game, tablet, system, phone or an ipod.

I have always been satisfied with my purchases and exchanges there and that's why I wrote this review. I find that most of the time people write reviews is because of a negative experience they had that was an isolated incident and they feel like complaining. If you're going to shop for video games, go to Video Games Etc.

Amazing service and patience from the staff. Very friendly. My kids even dropped a pile of change on the counter after paying for their own game for the first time and they made it so seamless.
